In-Game Visions
In the lead-up to the event, a number of visions were seen by random players from multiple guilds & races:
- On 10/28: Your senses reel with chaotic energies, and you see an endless desert with a singular line of camels slowly meandering across a dune ridge. The hot sun burns above, and a heat shimmer distorts the surroundings, but it is clear that the camels are making their way to a distant oasis. A small grove of palm and date trees enclose a spring, and the clear waters burble, fed from a reservoir deep beneath the sands. Suddenly, a half a dozen bulges in the sand rise and begin streaming towards the camels, leaving a pocked trail. The camels spook and begin to run, when a massive vortex of sand opens beneath them, articulated legs reaching up and pulling the beasts downward.
- On 10/28: Your senses reel with chaotic energies, and you see a lush apple orchard, varieties sweeping down a long line of planted rows, the rich scent of blossoms carried on the gentle breeze. A farmhand lugs a pruning saw and a bushel of dead wood and examines the trees as he walks the field, occasionally stopping to trim a branch. He pauses a moment and squints, cocking his head as a shuddering rumble can be heard nearby, causing the trees to sway. All goes silent for a long moment, and one of the trees begins to creak, then splinter. Suddenly, it explodes in a flurry of insect legs, dirt, and shattered wood. In seconds, there is nothing but a vacant pit in the ground, and the stunned farmhand blinks in shock and begins to run.
- On 10/28: Your senses reel with chaotic energies, and you find yourself on a tranquil forest path. Birds chirp, and small creatures flit about merrily. A sudden shadow momentarily blots out the midday sun, and the forest noises abruptly cease. All life has hidden itself, save for you. You feel a drop of moisture on your head and look up to see the massive chelicerae of an enormous spider descending rapidly through the forest canopy directly towards you. You raise your arms to defend yourself from the predator, and a shrill shriek escapes your throat. A moment before the creature is upon you, your vision blurs, and you find yourself back where you were previously, albeit still shrieking and covering your face with your arms.
- On 10/28: Your senses reel with chaotic energies, and you see a dusty caravan pulled by a team of massive oxen. The reinforced steel wheels creak under a heavy burden, and as the wind catches the canvas tarp, you glimpse enormous slabs of metal -- lumium, glaes, kertig, haralun, silver, and brass -- the incredible weight borne by thick oak beams and steel struts. The team makes steady but slow progress, gradually working along an open road. Glancing ahead, one of the caravan guards scrutinizes the area, when suddenly, the road ahead explodes with articulated legs, and a tide of enormous spiders washes over the caravan.
- On 10/29: Your senses reel with chaotic energies, and you find yourself on a tranquil forest path.
- On 10/29: Your senses reel with chaotic energies, and you feel bile rise in your stomach as your vision blurs and the ground beneath you rocks. Suddenly, twin sets of massive legs shoot up through the earth in front of you as the ground buckles and falls. You are swept up in the turbulence and look down to see a gaping maw and two gigantic palps reaching for you, flanked by eight soulless eyes. Just as the abomination is about to swallow you, the vision fades and you find yourself alone, with no hint of the gigantic arachnid anywhere in sight.

Tasks for Tickets and Items
At each of the Meeting portal locations, you can find a concerned arachnologist and an agitated businessman. You can speak to both about various topics (web, spider, etc.), and both offer TASKS that will enable you to get tickets for the upcoming event. It appears that both these NPC's give the same variation of the 4 tasks but with different messaging. Additionally, each appears to have a unique contribution credit counter, which you can check by asking each about STATUS. Currently, the only difference is the possible titles you can acquire.
You are able to pick up and return tasks to any location of the 2 NPC's. For example, you can accept a task in Crossing but return it in Riverhaven. However, the Crossing location may be desirable as it appears most of the random locations for task groupings are located in Zoluren.
Tasks
When you ASK ARACHNOLOGIST/BUSINESSMAN FOR TASK, you will randomly receive the option of one of the following, which you can ACCEPT or DECLINE. The below are summarized versions, see each NPC page for detailed overviews with task messaging and specific instructions:
- Kill spiders: kill various spiders found during invasions or in the Current Spider Hunting Location (see below).
- note: Empaths will not receive this as an option
- Rescue missing colleagues: find via SEARCHing in the location that the NPC gives you in the accept text.
- Spidersilk turn-in: kill various spiders found during invasions and in the Current Spider Hunting Location (see below) for randomly dropped pieces of spidersilk.
- Spiderweb portals: either clear spiderwebs from nearby doors, arches, etc. or travel to the location given in the task and SEARCH for portals to clear.
- tip: See the below Spiderweb Syntax table for directions on how to clear different web types
- Tomiek chitins: kill and collect chitin from the Tomiek-iguji broodlings and return them to the NPC
- tips: To get into the burrow, wait near the task givers to be drug down (or use the burrow of a recently drug player) or find one of the randomly spawned entrances in the area. To get out of the burrow where you can hunt the broodlings, look for a freshly dug hole.
Current Spider Hunting Location
It appears that the above ground spider hunting areas change, perhaps once per day or after x-number of spiders are killed in the area. The following list should be updated as the location moves:
- 10/27:
Farmland, Grain Fields - Crossing west gate - 10/28:
Riverhaven West Wilds - Riverhaven west gate - 10/29:
Dirge, both in the city and immediately outside the gate - 10/30: Shard, East & North Bridges (outside town)
Spiderweb syntax
ADJUST, WAVE, CUT etc, the portal that the webbing is covering, not the web itself
Web type | Method of destruction |
---|---|
spidersilk | -cut it with a bladed weapon (slice or puncture must be highest attribute on weapon) -POINT a Lighter at it |
metallic | -ADJUST it with tinker tools |
phantasmal | -POINT or WAVE at it with a light source -WAVE at it with a glowing Gaethzen item |
shadowy | -POINT or WAVE at it with a fire/light source |
dew-covered | -POINT or WAVE at it with a fire source |
Not all light sources and fire sources will work due to variations in code. The following have been confirmed to be usable items:

Rewards
At 100 credits you get a message saying you're capped. ASK ARACHNOLOGIST/BUSINESSMAN FOR STATUS to see how many credits you currently have with each. Credits appear to accumulate per account, not per player.

Games
Notes:
- While the chart below shows what is dropped at each game, each game may drop different things at different rates. One game might be better at dropping crystals than rings, while another might be really good at stones instead of tickets, and so on. Explore and try things to see what works best for your current needs!
