Clerics have access to a plethora of rituals they can perform to please -- or appease -- the gods. Rituals primarily sustain Devotion in order to power the Communes. This is the standard message for a successfully completed ritual, regardless of any devotion gain:
- You sense that you are as pure of spirit as you can be, and you are ready for whatever rituals might face you.
Non-Aligned Rituals
The vast majority of the rituals in game fall under this category. They aren't all necessarily 'neutral' rituals, but they display the devotion gain message of neutral rituals:
- You feel that your gods have smiled upon you for your attempts to please them.
Generic Rituals
Holy Ground
These rituals can only be performed in a consecrated room, usually with an altar.
Acts of Humility
One who shows their humble desire to please the gods may learn that kneeling and praising the statue of a god of good standing will cause them to achieve some minor attention of the gods.
Offerings of Sacred Wine
Offering the wine of the gods unto them by pouring it unto their altar can bring about their pleasure.
- POUR sacramental wine, deep red wine, or blessed sacramental wine onto an altar.
Dance and Poetry
The gods are delighted by the dancing and recitation of their priests, and may grant their grace to those who do honor them in such ways.
- DANCE three times in a room with an altar.
- PLAY songs. Any song type will grant at least a small amount of devotion/theurgy now. Wedding songs have been bumped to grant Hymn level devotion, Dirge songs have been bumped to provide Psalm level devotion, and Requiem songs award more than Psalms. All other song types award a static small amount of devotion.
- RECITE a poem of sufficient length that mentions the neutral gods or other keywords such as praise, blessing(s), love or unity.
Menial Humility
Cleaning the altars of the gods can bring a kind smile from those who watch over the altars. Of course, one cannot use just any water to wash these altars, for to otherwise is sacrilege unto the sacred and profane!
- CLEANing dusty altars with holy water.
Incense
Neutral aligned ritual that awards a small amount of devotion/theurgy. There is a dark aligned version of this that is, so far, undiscovered that requires the use of a specially prepared piece of incense. The award for the dark version is a bit higher.
- WAVE incense at <altar>.
Offering of Destroyed Undead
- OFFERing holy water-sprinkled undead skins on altars.
Miscellaneous
Visitation of Shrine
Visitation of shrines is recommended, if for no other reason than to become acquainted with those who you serve.
- PUSHing a supported shrine or altar with a pilgrim's badge.
- PRAYing on a pilgrim's badge.
Release from Greed
Tithing is encouraged.
- PUTting money into an almsbox. Tithing 5 silver provides the maximum devotion, and there's a two hour timer.
Releasing the Undead
- Killing undead creatures that teach you[1].
Cleansing the Scourge of Necromancy
- Successfully ACCUSEing someone of Necromancy.
Planting of Sirese
Sirese is the flower of the Cleric. Do all that you can to ensure its spread.
- GATHER the sirese seed, PLANT then SPRINKLE holy water on the room.
- Syntax: GATHER SIRESE, GATHER SIRESE SEED, or GATHER SEED will work. You'll know you're doing it right if you get a Roundtime. If you come up empty handed, just keep trying.
Note: The seed must be blessed before planting. OR ... the room must be sprinkled with holy water prior to planting.
The Holy Bath
If you have found yourself unclean and in need of good cleansing, then take ye to a holy pool and there apply such herbs as are deemed by the gods to cleanse, and let yourself be cleansed.
- Holy bath in which two of chamomile, sage, or lavender are RUBbed into the skin.
- When purchased, each bag of herbs has one application each.
- Using additional applications of the same herb type will "consume" the item without producing the desired effect. The two herbs must be different: e.g. chamomile and lavender, lavender and sage, or sage and chamomile.
- Locations include the Crossing Temple, Damaris's shrine near Kaerna Village, near Leth Deriel Moss Meys, Kweld Gelvdael in the Zaulfung, Eluned's Temple on Ratha, the shell pool in Halasa Temple on Aesry, and the Temple of Kertigen in Hibarnhvidar.
- Note that the Crossing Temple Bathing Pool is emptied (and therefore unavailable) during the winter months, in order to prevent damage to the marble due to the water freezing.
Preaching
Preaching on the greatness of our gods can bring about much favor and grace.
Breaking Bread
The Anlas of Hodierna's Blessing is celebrated by breaking the bread of life.
- BREAKing a piece of lanahh pao. The fresher the bread the greater the devotion gain.
- EATing the bread.
Last Rites
Must be performed on consecrated ground. Skinning or Looting the creature before doing this will prevent this from working. Does not work on cursed creatures.
- PRAY <dead creature>
