Armor Template

The new protection, absorption, and hindrance ranges for body armor are now live. (Shield protection is still on a separate scale, which has not changed.) I recommend changing the armor template so that it accepts new and old scales (but flags old scales as outdated), which is similar to the current Weapon template. --Isharon 19:37, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Weapon Forging Templates

What kind of syntax would you suggest for weapon templates? Multiple weapon types use the same template, and it would make sense to link them all together and not make them dependent on the name. Let me know what you think works best so I can start flowing in data. —TEVESHSZAT 19:04, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

...I'm going to have to think about that. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 19:10, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Alrighty. Just let me know whatever system you prefer. I was thinking something like Weapon:Forged_TYPE_PRIMARYDAMAGE_SUITED_VOLUME could possibly work. So, for example, the template used by the Briquet/Dagger/Misericorde would be Weapon:Forged_le_puncture_balance_2. There might be some times we'd have to do something like an _(1) or _(2) for some templates, but I don't think it would be too terrible. —TEVESHSZAT 21:05, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Okay, set it up like this Weapon:Forged <template>
The template can be your choice of whichever of them you like, but also mention in the article it covers the other templates, and set up redirects. We'll try that for now. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 21:11, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Template:ItemProperties

I would like item pages to say, "This item's type is unknown" when the type field is blank. --Isharon 22:05, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

While in theory I could add it, it would just about double the size of the template, and double the amount of work it would take with each update. So.... no. :P -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 22:21, 20 June 2011 (UTC)

Forum Post Properties

For some reason, when I tag a post as being about "PvP," it doesn't list that under the "Facts about" section. However, if I go to the PvP article, the post is archived there. --Isharon 19:13, 9 June 2011 (UTC)

That is bizarre. And I can't figure out why. sigh -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 07:41, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

New Forum Posts

Now that the Play.net forum has been moved, what do you want to do with the Forum field? Previously, we placed the board number after the category and topic, but the forum no longer uses numbers. Should we just omit the numbers from now on (for example, Discussions with DragonRealms Staff and Players \ Game Master and Official Announcements? --Isharon 18:56, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Also, the date format on new posts is a bit different. There are now zeroes before single-digit times (for example, "06/01/2011 05:42 PM CDT"). ----Isharon 19:09, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
Eh, omit the forum folder numbers and just keep the times as the forum displays. Easier to copy and paste that way. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 23:13, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
It looks like the forum post time no longer displays the second, so it is theoretically possible (though unlikely in practice) for two different posts to have the exact same page name. --Isharon 06:48, 3 June 2011 (UTC)

Mining

Two things: could you remove my BOT status? I haven't really had the chance to move much DFP stuff recently, been busy for a while. Also, what is spoiler-ish about the mining section? Would it be possible to just move the spoilers to a secondary article? --Leito 01:38, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Sure.
It's spoiler-ish, because I put the page up right when mining came out. It was a warning to people who wanted to PAFO. I'll remove it in a couple more days. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 01:44, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Guildfest 401

Would you mind adding Guildfest 401 to the "Improvement Drive" section of the home page? Thanks!----Isharon 08:54, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

The current drive section lists "Guildfest 401" in May 2010. This should be changed to May 2011. ----Isharon 17:30, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Template:ItemProperties

When you select "writing" as the item type, nothing appears in the completed item. I think it should say something like "This item is a writing implement or something that can be written on." --Isharon 05:59, 11 May 2011 (UTC)

Turns out that's cause I hadn't added support for it. Huh, I wonder why. Anyways, fixed. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 09:21, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Any way you could add something for "anatomy chart?" It's a listed property, but the completed item doesn't say what it is if you use it. See, e.g., Item:Silverfish anatomy chart. --Isharon 06:38, 15 May 2011 (UTC)
I could, but at this point, I'd actually be inclined to remove that option. It doesn't seem like they're variable enough in form to need to have their own tag. In fact, I suspect I might have removed it from the template and forgot to remove it from the form and property. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 07:07, 15 May 2011 (UTC)

I would like the item pages to say when an item cannot be worn. Thanks! (wearloc=-) ----Isharon 23:58, 20 May 2011 (UTC)

Done. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 00:25, 21 May 2011 (UTC)

Post Form

I have no idea why, but every time I try to create or edit a post with the form, I get the following error: --Isharon 18:43, 9 May 2011 (UTC)

Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /home/khodges/public_html/w/extensions/SemanticForms/includes/SF_FormPrinter.inc on line 291

Fixed. Oops. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 04:07, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Item Template: Read

It would be nice if there were a dedicated field for item reads. --Isharon 00:53, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

The default (-) value would be There is nothing there to read. --Isharon 00:53, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
It could be done, but that seems like it might just be another step to template overload. Do you really see a huge need for it? -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 04:14, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
It would just make it easier to generate forms (especially by script). --Isharon 04:39, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
Mmmmmm, lemmie see. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 04:41, 4 May 2011 (UTC)
(The main issue with my Elanthipedia Items script is that the look ends at the end of the line, and reads are on a separate line. I can't capture that with one regular expression.) --Isharon 04:50, 4 May 2011 (UTC)

Ampersands in Post Page Names

How should we handle post titles that contain the ampersand (&)? It seems to be cutting off everything after the ampersand. For example, Post:Crossbows & Tinkering - 4/30/2011 - 8:32:54. (See how it redirects from Post:Crossbows.) --Isharon 22:46, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

It has to do with the & being used as a control character by the wiki in addresses. If necessary, just replace it with "and." -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 00:00, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Shield Template Bug

The shield form is missing at least one value (incredible). Here is the shield appraisal scale:

  1. very poor
  2. poor
  3. rather low
  4. low
  5. fair
  6. better than fair
  7. moderate
  8. moderately good
  9. good
  10. very good
  11. high
  12. very high
  13. great
  14. very great
  15. impressive
  16. very impressive
  17. tremendous
  18. incredible
  19. god-like

--Isharon 22:28, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Fixed. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 22:51, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
I see the option in the shield form, but on the finished shield page, it shows up as "Unknown protection." --Isharon 01:18, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
Okay, now it's fixed. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 07:41, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
Now "incredible" is showing up as "Tremendous (10/11) protection." (See above item.) --Isharon 08:07, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
No it doesn't. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 08:19, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
It's showing up as incredible now, but is there a reason that the Paladin-only values aren't considered part of the scale? Incredible should be 18/19, not 10/11. --Isharon 18:59, 25 April 2011 (UTC)
Because the vast majority of shields are not paladin appraised, and I want them to still be as accurate as possible when attempting comparisons. For example, if you tried to find all shields better or equal to a paladin level, it would miss many of the shields that were actually that, but not listed as such. Thus, the Paladin more specific appraisals are the same rank as the value a normal person (no, Paladin's aren't normal) would appraise it at. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 00:41, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Reference Tag Bug?

When I use the {{RefAl}} tag, something is wrong with the formatting. The "Related Forum Posts" and "Also See" sections are not recognized as headers. --Isharon 18:10, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

I know, and I've been trying to figure out why. Gimmie a bit. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 22:10, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
Fixed. I know what I had to do to fix it, but I don't know why it had to be done. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 10:00, 30 April 2011 (UTC)

Item Template: Fest Items

Does the item template still support the fest= tag, and should we be filling that out? It's not in the form when you click "create/edit with form." --Isharon 22:57, 22 April 2011 (UTC)

Nope, it's superceded by the rare= tag. Thought, it technically will work, since I didn't want to have to track down the ones I'd tagged fest. I also, more or less meant it as an advanced option... though that doesn't seem so smart now that I think about it. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 09:20, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
If you still want us to flag things as rare (fest, auction, etc.), can you add a rare field to the "create/edit with form" option to the weapon, shield, armor, and item pages? (This field is useful if you're using the query pages.) I think that the main reason that it hasn't been added to more items is that people don't know that the information is requested. --Isharon 18:17, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
Rareness is automatically populated for festival store weapons as long as the source store is set as a festival store. That field is reserved for odd source equipment, such as auctions or quest which the system doesn't understand. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 22:10, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
Is rare automatically set to no for items whose source is set to a permanent shop? --Isharon 22:45, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
It SHOULD be, but I'm not sure if it is. I don't remember whether I figured out an easy way to do it. I'll check when I have a moment. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 22:49, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Spell Template

Can there be an option to designate something as a metaspell (for Magic 3.0)? --Isharon 08:09, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

On second thought, perhaps a separate metaspell template would be better.--Isharon 08:43, 27 March 2011 (UTC)

Bug With Brawling Template

When the puncture/slice/impact type variable is set to No, the page looks like the puncture/slice/impact damage info is missing.

For example: Weapon:Gold elbow spikes

Appraisal:

You are certain that it could do:
no puncture damage increase
quite a bit of slice damage
quite a bit of impact damage

Form Values:

|puncture=none
|puncturetype=Yes
|slice=quite a bit
|slicetype=No
|impact=quite a bit
|impacttype=No

Page says:

Puncture: none

Slice: Unknown

Impact: Unknown

The "Facts about" item box at the bottom is also missing damage stats. --Isharon 00:36, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Yea I know. The problem is that I can't set up the template till I have information on how they relate. Is "quite a bit" better or worse than "some?" -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 00:47, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
I've fixed it so it will display, but without more information on how brawling weapons compare, I can't do much more. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 01:57, 18 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks. Is there any way that the display could add (increase) when "the damage is the special brawling increase type"? For example:

Puncture: none (increase)

Slice: quite a bit

Impact: quite a bit

--Isharon 15:32, 18 March 2011 (UTC)

Whitelisting URLs (CAPTCHA Bypass)

Is there a way that certain URLs can be added to a whitelist so that contributors don't have to complete a CAPTCHA when these links are posted? Leito brought it to my attention that he has to go through CAPTCHA every time he adds the DFP tag. --Isharon 20:13, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Already on it. Having Callek look into it since I wouldn't really know where to start. It'll be a bit as he's stuck with RL stuff. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 21:08, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Leading Articles (Items)

Currently, a, an, and some are leading articles that are not included in page names or item names. However, other potential articles are not treated consistently. For example, in some items, "a pair of" and "a set of" are treated as leading articles, but in others they are not.

Do you have a full list of leading articles that should be excluded from page names? --Isharon 17:35, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

To be honest, I have no idea why people have decided to leave out the "pair of" etc, but I've been too lazy to do anything about it. On one hand, it is part of the item, but on the other hand, it doesn't add much to the info.
What's your opinion? -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 19:11, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Ignoring the amount of work that it would require to make all of these items consistent, I would only count a, an, and some as leading articles. Phrases like "a pair of" are not articles (grammatically speaking); they're quantities. Unless we exclude all "leading quantities" from page names, we'd have to decide which to include and which to exclude, and that would breed inconsistency.
It seems that more of the items that I've looked at omit "pair of" and "set of" than include those terms, so it would be more work to add those terms than remove them. Another issue is that many of the store pages also omit these articles, so it may not be immediately obvious which pages need to be edited. --Isharon 20:27, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
I agree, include them from now on, and I'll work on updating the old ones where possible. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 20:28, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
Most of that would be from me, based of this post. Category talk:Items#Pairs and Sets?. If memory serves, it was a decision to the achieve the same effect as the List field.-Glimmereyes 21:40, 7 March 2011 (UTC)

Favicon

Just an FYI, the FAVICON.ICO for elanthipedia doesn't appear to be working in any browser. (Chrome, FF, IE). Possibly missing.

... I don't actually know what that means. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 03:57, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
It's the icon that appears in the browser for the page/bookmarks for example, the greyish sphere for play.net page, the facebook "f" icon, etc. It looks like Elanthipedia's is missing (it should be at http://elanthipedia.com/favicon.ico according to the source, but it doesn't appear to be there.) Crafts Items

Hi Caraamon,

Do we want to set up item pages for basic, mastercraft versions of forged items, based on a standard metal? (thinking medium carbon steel is probably easiest)

--Hithrael 03:47, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

That sounds fine, but let me think of how to do it properly. Using Template:Weapon would mess a number of things up. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 05:22, 25 July 2011 (UTC)

Tab titles

Hey, I was browsing roar titles at this link http://elanthipedia.com/wiki/Special:Ask/-5B-5Bpage-20type-20is::title-5D-5D-20-5B-5Btitle-20category-20is::Category:Barbarian-20Titles-5D-5D-5B-5Btitle-20subcategory-20is::roar-5D-5D/-3FTitle-20requirement/sort%3DTitle_difficulty_is,/order%3DASC,ASC and the tab title is funky. Now that I look at it, the whole URL is very un-elanthipedia like. Is this just something weird or what? Healfdene Rokk 02:36, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

What's wierd about the tab?
The URL is just odd because the query stuff is an add on. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 07:28, 5 October 2011 (UTC)

Sortable Lists

I want to move most of the information from my Ship and Travel site to Elanthipedia and would like to create a sortable table of Ships and their types and owners. As I recall, somebody has to make a special code to create a sortable table. Here's the table I want to make sortable: http://www.kraelyst.com/travel/roster.html. Can you help? - Kraelyst

That would be great, Kraelyst! If it's just a regular sortable table, you can see an example of the wiki code here. I usually make mine in Excel and export them to a text file. --Isharon 16:05, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Template Suggestions

Creature Template

Hey Caraamon, any chance of adding box ranges to creature templates? They would be easier to update if they were listed on the creature page. Would be nice to use them as a variable that would show up in the Box Range lists as well. --Leito 00:13, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

It's a possibility. Lemmie think about how to best do it. Remind me again if I don't get to it this week. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 02:29, 27 February 2011 (UTC)

Item Template

I think that the item template should have a field that asks whether the item hides any features or items (f=features, i=items, b=both, n=neither). --Isharon 21:35, 24 February 2011 (UTC)

Post Template

I think it would be a good idea to modify the post template so that it automatically includes a link to the forum post. I realize that old posts often disappear, but while they're online, it would be useful to have a link to the original. The post template already contains the information that you need (category, topic, and post number).

The format for a forum link is:

https://www.play.net/forums/messages.asp?forum=20&category=#&topic=#&message=#

--Isharon 19:45, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
It can't currently do that since it currently cannot "process" the folder info. Those would have to be stored in separate fields... assuming there isn't anything odd about trying to format external links. It's possible, but would take a lot of extra work both with the template AND with transferring posts. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 09:28, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Will there ever be a post query? If so, separating the folders into separate fields might be worthwhile. --Isharon 02:04, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Considering that I often find info in folders that have NOTHING to do with it, I'm not really sure it would be. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 05:59, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
That's true, but sometimes you remember which folder a post is in without being able to find the actual post (unless you're willing to scan dozens of pages). --Isharon 18:07, 13 February 2011 (UTC)

Spell Template

With the advent of Magic 3.0, I think that it would be good to add a category for obsolete spells. (Currently, they are listed in planned spells, which is misleading.) --Isharon 16:56, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

Agreed. Lemmie see if I can set up the template to handle it. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 22:38, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
Done, and recategorized. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 23:26, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

Constellation Template

Hi Caraamon,

Any chance the default for not having the "hours in sky" be "all night" or something like that? I ask because hours of night are seasonal dependent, and the constellations with specific hours do not have a varying time.

Thanks, --Hithrael 03:21, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

Hmmm, I've got an idea. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 10:16, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
How's that work for ya? -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 10:35, 20 November 2010 (UTC)

I think I've beaten it into submission. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 22:31, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Looks that one one's quashed... I think as a last ask, would the "Visibility" one be able to draw from the dates the constellation is up to provide the season match? --Hithrael 01:04, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Provide me with the dates which the seasons change, and I can look into it. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 01:33, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
[[1]] --Hithrael 01:57, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
In theory, it should be done. I haven't had time to fully test it, so let me know if it goes wonky. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 02:57, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
There seems to be some ambiguity about the "End Date." Are you listing those as the first day they can't be seen, or the last day they can be seen? -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 03:02, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Start date should be first date visible, end date should be the last date visible.--Hithrael 03:09, 21 November 2010 (UTC)
Good, because that's what the template assumes. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 03:10, 21 November 2010 (UTC)

How do you decide who becomes a moderator or not? I think my ~3,000 contributions certainly warrant me for consideration. --Thilan 16:37, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

Generally, I go, "Huh we need new mods. Lets check the recent activity list. Okay, he/she's been doing a lot of work." If you haven't been asked, it means that I just didn't happen to see you, not that I've decided you aren't good enough (usually). -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 22:03, 9 February 2011 (UTC)

Deletion Requests

Please delete Post:The Big Post of Magic Techniques - 1/29/2011 20:41:38. I forgot the hyphen in the date and didn't realize that it had already been posted. --Isharon 17:00, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

I noticed that a person by the name of UliannaMiddleton made an account, posted an article on MCSE, and uploaded a picture about that, all within 1 minute. Change of Page names

hey chief, a couple of pages i thought could use a name change, and i'm not sure how... 'sky hawk' - are actually called 'giant snow hawk' in Forf (i added the desc and some notes) 'year 400 fireworks' - i think should be called a 'spectacular show' maybe, since that's what it was called when observed in the sky Powerhaus jan 8, 2011

Moved Hawk page after some fumbling. I don't know much about the fireworks so I'll leave that decision to someone else.

I added a redirector for it. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 05:09, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Durability Changes...

Ok, so with durability changes comes new "ranges" in appraisals...

Do we have anything setup that recognizes "Was appraised with old ranges" vs "Was appraised with new ranges" in wiki, if not should we? [2] --Callek 20:12, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Yup. Items not marked with "newapp=yes" get tagged with Template:OldApp. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 21:15, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Not sure if this is a result of the new durability changes... but when doing database search/sort, the highest to lowest order goes 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 10, 1. TEVESHSZAT 21:21, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for letting me know, I'll look into it. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 21:44, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
Can you post a link to an example? It doesn't seem to be doing that for me. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 21:54, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
When I sort this page by balance, it does the 9, 8, 7, etc etc etc 10, 1 thing, but ONLY when I do from most to least. When it goes from least to most, it sorts properly. Sorry for the super long and messy URL. It seems owly and bitly etc are all blocked as spam options.

Okay, I see it. I suspect it's a bug with the semantic programming, considering how specific it is. I don't think there's anything we can do. I'll do a bit more checking. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 22:33, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
No problem. Just wanted to give you a heads up. It's a really specific oddness and I doubt people would often even run into it. TEVESHSZAT 22:34, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Multiple Shops

I was thinking about this on my ride home from a road trip, would it be easier to use other designations for festival shops that change year to year instead of (1), (2) etc? For example, for Hallow Eve fests, they could be (HE2008), (HE2009). Most fests are able to have a two letter designation, HE, GF, EL(Feast of Eluned), EL2(Feast of Eluned2), etc. then that way, we know which year which shop much easier. Just a thought. --Ysselt 03:04, 2 November 2010 (UTC)

In general, I would agree, except that it seems that some versions show up at multiple festivals, before they get switched to a new version. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 01:36, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

I've named you "lead sysop" even though you've been in that roll for a while now. Please glance over the current admins listed here and let me know who you think we should bump down due to inactivity and let me know if you want to bump any current editors up due to their contributions to the wiki. Shops by Type subcategory not sorting properly

As the title says, when you get to the lowest level of shops by type everything is bunched together under a single heading based on the level higher. So for example, instead of Magic Shops sorting each shop by the shop's first letter, everything is listed under M for Magic Shops. I checked a few other random subcategories like Shops by Town, etc and they all seem to be working fine.

It may take a bit to repopulate, it but should be fixed now. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 23:27, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Weapon Search Page

Is there a way to search for weapons that are multiple types, i.e. HT/pike vs. HT/HB or 2HE/HE vs 2HE/2HB? If not can that be added in? Love the feature btw. --Thilan 15:51, 30 December 2010 (UTC)

Blacksmithing

Since you are putting so much work into the new blacksmithing pages, I wonder if you could ad something rather important that is missing: What can you actually make? A list of items which can be crafted I think would be highly useful. Russell 18:49, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

I undid your redirect on Age, it created a circular redirect and the page and info became lost. I am not sure which page you wanted the info to be on (Age or Age command) but it ended up on neither with both redirecting to each other. I was scratching my head for awhile trying to find that info that I knew existed before. Go ahead and set it back up how you intended, but I had to undo it for now. Russell 07:10, 22 January 2011 (UTC)

Plat Timeline Differences

There's been an interest to record how IG events worked out differently in Plat than they did in Prime, so both players and GMs are better at remembering all the minor differences that tend to happen. Alicia Crowther

Hi, I see you've moved the Alicia Crowther article from "Alicia" to "Alicia Crowther". How to name articles has been an ongoing concern for the Elanthiedia which has received much discussion in the past. A while back, however, everybody was able to agree on the first-name-only format (with a few exceptions) enough that it has been entered into the Elanthipedia:Manual_of_Style. Hope that helps. --Basselope 12:59, 29 April 2008 (CDT)

Not sure what you did to the spell/enchante templates, but there's a weird line showing up as "{{#ifeq:<guild>|bard|" (where guild is that spell's guild) below every spell box now. Bards are fine --Thilan 10:18, 11 July 2008 (CDT)

The change you made to Roopardua seems to have broken the page's NPC infobox. Tried fixing it but nothing's happening. --Thilan 23:08, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

The change that broke it was actually on the NPC Template, what happend was he added "filler" to the start of the template, and this filler interupted the wiki parsing of {| which must be at the start of its own line. --Callek 04:36, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Take a look at Form:Item. I'll be making one of those forms for all the item templates and other popular templates (like integrating all the shop templates into one form as well. Hey Caraamon.

SMW Namespace FIXED

Hey! I fixed the namespace problem! However, everything that has been moved to one of the new namespaces needs to be moved back to the main namespace, then moved back to their custom namespace again. The factbox shows up correctly in the new namespaces once this has been done. It's a little tedious, but fixes our problem! I hope you haven't moved too many articles to the new namespaces yet! Let me know if you want help fixing all the affected pages.--Naeya (talk) 19:29, 19 June 2008 (CDT) Hmm or I could be wrong. I've looked at a few more of them and they seem to be fine without the little switcheroo move thing. Let me know if you notice any problems.--Naeya (talk) 19:33, 19 June 2008 (CDT)

By all the annoyingly silent gods, that's great. Thank you. Now if you're bored, maybe you might want to track down why the Forms explode if I try to activate autocomplete on source fields? If not, no biggie, it's not a high priority.-Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 19:35, 19 June 2008 (CDT)

Enchantes Pages

I'm not sure if you set up the templates for the spell pages, but I can't seem to find a way to unmark an article as complete. All of the Bard enchante pages are complete as of now - I would like to 'unincomplete' them if possible. Thanks! --Slowhubb 20:20, 6 October 2008 (CDT)

Update: Alright, I found the issue: The enchante template conversion broke something. For whatever reason, it's not tracking the variables necessary for completion correctly. For instance, I can have the enchante play times, song form, etc blank because the spell template doesn't track those fields to determine whether or not the article is complete.

I went through and updated most of the enchante pages to complete them, but it had the unintended effect of completing non-complete pages. Any ideas? I don't think I can edit the template myself to fix the issue.

Thanks! --Slowhubb 23:21, 12 October 2008 (CDT)

Have you used <ask> anywhere? If so I need to make some code changes. This was something that has to do with the SMW upgrade. It might be easier to change them all to #ask - (more info - SMF site--Naeya (talk) 17:10, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Hey, on Elemental Pathways

done, gave pathway perceive it's own page for future additions too -Powerhaus 10:26, 30 January 2009

hmm ok, i'll work on it. Eh Barrage kind of is and isn't, it's not like the others cause it's an actual attack rather than a state of mind, but shows up on our pathway list and uses 'mental reserve' that only gets drained and used by pathway stuff, i'll probably just put a See barrage or something. thanks Powerhaus23:40, 29 January 2009

noticed there's 2 pathways pages, one with spoilers, and one that's a mess. Should the info just be copied over the the messy one, and delete the spoilers and leave a link to the pathway spoilers page? Also I don't think the whole Spell Form is needed, since other than barrage they don't include any spell effects? Also was wondering if I should move Defense Pathway spoilers from Discussion to the acual page since it's been awhile now. Finally, should Barrage be included with the pathways with just a link to the Barrage entry? Powerhaus 11:00, 29 January 2009

Titles

I've been changing some of the Title pages to use the TitleReq templates, rather than the extra pipes in the Title template, as I thought the TitleReq was the way things were going, but then I saw what you'd done with Barbarian Titles, so am thinking I may need to undo the changes I've made. Or, possibly use both styles so that TitleAsk and the individual Title pages both work? Thoughts? FuIru 20:08, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for the long wait, I've been having internet problems. Use TitleAsk for the category pages and use the forms to do the individual title pages. The form knows how to process it correctly.Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 03:35, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

As you probably noticed I updated the titleAsk stuff to "work better" including pretty name, and linking etc. (we may want to update css/formatting on the "more" link... no time atm). I also added a TODO page to help with getting it all done (and caught up)! Also of note is the missing property, which I added generically to do things like what you just did today (add it to other templates), so thanks on that! --Callek 05:37, 11 January 2009 (UTC)

Yep I saw and it looks good to me. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 06:55, 11 January 2009 (UTC)
Replied to you on my talk page. again --Callek 20:32, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

hey, any idea what is up with the Title ToDo page, it refs the missing::TitleReq and still shows many pages that no longer have that. Even its "more" link shows that. Nearly the whole first results have that problem. Is it a Semantic bug, a function of how elanthipedia is cached, or did I do some mistake? If a semantic MW bug I can surely dig and attempt to fix stuff, but it may take a bit of work. (my best guess is its a factor of Semantic MW + parser functions together, the #if stuff) --Callek 03:31, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

It's a caching issue as far as I can tell. Basically, until the page is purged after the semantics change, it won't send it to the search engine properly. At least that's the issue I keep running into. If that doesn't work.... lemmie know and I'll poke into it. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 07:45, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Okay, I've found a fix. Purging (i.e. refreshing) isn't enough, you actually have to do a no-change edit and save for it to be updated correctly. I suspect it has to do with the fact they were shifted namespaces, but I'm not sure of the details. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 07:49, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Yea, purging in and of itself did not work (I can also purge :-) ) which is where I was confused. --Callek 15:28, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Hmm, and looks like it STILL did not update that ToDo page (I see a few that still shouldn't be there)... unless you mean purge/blank-save on the Title:* pages themselves. --Callek 15:30, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
Yep. Gotta resave each individual title page. Why? Damned if I know. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 19:37, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

Couple things: How do we calculate a diff for a title that only requires a stat like Title:Actor? And how do we calculate a diff for a guild title requiring a skill that isn't required for the guild like Title:Impresario? Had a couple more that have slipped my mind at the moment, but I'll let you know. I've been gradually working through the categories, finished Trader, Performer, Lore and Criminal, working on Survivals and up next are Thief and the other general categories. I saw you were doing the combat ones this morning so I'll leave those to you if you want. Thanks, Azhag 02:47, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Okay, what I do is that I ignore any skill that isn't required (no choice), and if it's a pure stat title, I make an arbitrary guess based on what I know of the given guild. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 02:53, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Gem Selling

Hey can you proofread and copy-edit Selling_Gem_Pouches for me, I'm not sure if that is clear enough. But I just wanted to write an article on it from all my times explaining the methods to newcomers in the gemshop in crossing! (I plan on writing a page on the numbers, and one "for traders" to refer to eventually) --Callek 18:21, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure how to better word it at the moment, but tieing a pouch actually creates 2 items, not one. It is one for the pouch itself, and one for all the gems inside. --Callek 21:39, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

response

I responded on my user talk. As far as the changes go, I've provided proof but honestly, they're about things that are general reputation. It's well known, and Ragran is attempting to hide it. As someone who works full time on wikis, I am quite averse to people trying to whitewash their own articles that read like puff-pieces. Fenance 22:53, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Ranik Maps

I just made a change to the map infobox, without first verifying that this is something we want. Revert if you think we need to either create stubs with template for shops red-linked from maps. Or if you feel that the way I did this is not wanted (i.e. fest shops showing up, needing to add new shop pages for the links to even appear, or shops from sub-maps not appearing -- i.e. Trader shop is not on Ranik's Map 1). --Callek 04:38, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Inkhorne

Why drop Map4 and add Leucro's, I'm still not sure where there is the Inhorne --Callek 19:12, 28 January 2009 (UTC) Unless they were moved to map4 with the west gate update, the only palce I've ever seen inkhorns was in with leucros. They're rare....assuming they haven't been removed in the year or so since I was last there. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 19:13, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

They were added to Hunting Preserve, yes. But they are definitely not on the Map for Leucro's... so thats a "MapError" to add there... but we need the Map4 added back (I'm at work, so please do it for me) ;-) --Callek 19:26, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Creature, NPC's, Shop Owners, and Maps

A few thoughts I am having... The creature pages are unwieldy and unable to be easily modified via the Form.

I suggest one of us come up with a new layout there (that the current template(s) can fit into without much difficulty (given the large number of critter pages). Preferrably [imo] one that has majority of text along left side of page (rather than needing to move from the float: left stuff)

I was thinking something like a top-of-page header that has all the info, and the picture along the right side. But no idea how to work that. This will also allow us to have the map list specified in numbers alone on the creature pages in future (so we don't need to rely on people using {{rmap}})

As far as NPC's, I was thinking of adjusting the template/form to allow pre-title, last name, and post-title (even affil?) entries. And then we can utilize that info on other pages we link from (such as Maps). This would negate the need to alt-specify MANY of the NPC's. (and could be used for player characters too).

Shopowners I was considering removing from the "Noteable People" list, unless they have another |type| associated with their NPC page. reasoning being in some cities there are MANY shops, and as the shops are already listed there is probably no need to also list their owners on the main map page.

I have not investigated any of these thoughts too heavily yet, but was wondering your opinion.

--Callek 17:59, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

I completely agree about the critter stuff. Lemmie give it some thought and I'll do some mock ups. Personally, I prefer right lined stuff, though.
Either way, some mockups would be good (I was going to just do some mockups last night, but got waaay too tired) --Callek 18:17, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
Well, I was more thinking an entire redesign of the page, but based on ThunderRams alone, I think we can go with this... it should work just fine for now. And we can actually let a Form help I think. --Callek 22:24, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
NPC/Shopkeepers.... the problem is that if you exclude shopkeepers, who else do you exclude? What criteria do we set for "important" people? As for alt names, just change the "names" section to whatever you want displayed, and use that as the display name.... actually, lemmie set that up as a tag. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 18:13, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
As far as "important" people, I was thinking shopkeepers not listed unless they have/had another role as something else. As in, in general we won't list Grisgonda on crossing (he owns the gemshop) but if the NPC of grisgonda caught and killed Grishnok, then we'd have him listed as another type of npc as well. Basically I'm just thinking to exclude shopkeeps from the Map List who are not also listed as another type. (The shops themselves are still listed, and I still intend we include the shopkeeps on the wiki). --Callek 18:17, 5 February 2009 (UTC)

Posts and Scripts

Hmm, I am envisioning placing posts in their own namespace so we don't have to duplicate them across many pages, and actually using semantic-media-wiki to auto-generate a list of posts (with a "more..." link).

Also, I think we can do a better job of segregating scripts. So if we get a Posts: and a Scripts: namespace we can sort this all out a bit better I think. :-) If you agree I'd like to pester Naeya about adding those two new namespaces. (I have a better idea along the Posts side than Scripts side though). --Callek 22:57, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

Ahh I knew there were two namespaces I wanted to use, and Scripts was one thing I've been thinking about, but wasn't actually the namespace I was hoping to ask you about. The other being "Logs". For <cleaned-up> logs of events, meetings, etc. not meant to be the main-wiki articles, but useful for anyone who cares to see the finer details. (Can be copied logs from posts, or players actually posting the logs themselves). Most logs should/could be made eventually into 3'rd party style. --Callek 22:59, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
I see no reason why not. Go ahead and bug her....assuming it doesn't break things like last time. Ew. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 23:10, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

I see you put up a lot of posts. Are you entering them all by hand or is there some wiki thing I'm missing that automatically generates the page? --Maje 21:45, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Spell Template

Can you please recheck your work on the spell template? It seems that the categories aren't directing properly since they are using lowercase names when they should be uppercase (i.e. Category:Versus agility Spells instead of Category:Versus Agility Spells. Thanks. --Thilan 16:25, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Fixed. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 17:23, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
It looks like the spells aren't being assigned to their respective categories. Soul Sickness, for example, correctly categorizes as a Versus Spirit spell on the bottom of the page, but it isn't being added to Category:Versus Spirit Spells. --Thilan 17:39, 11 February 2009 (UTC)
Hmmm... it looks like the wiki is being odd again. It doesn't recategorize them till they're edited and saved again (even if there's no change to the edit). -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 17:43, 11 February 2009 (UTC)

Factbox not showing up for Shadow Web

Ghodbane asked me to fix some of the stuff he thought he broke. I don't know what's wrong, really; I didn't do anything that I imagine fixed Tenebrous Sense, and now I broke Shadow Web, so I'm just confused. Pls take a look. =/ Sorry for the mess. --Diarik 07:24, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

I don't see anything wrong with either page. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 10:18, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
Oy. Neither do I. I am confused. =) Ah well. Devan 16:54, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
Sometimes the factboxes don't show up after being moved or otherwise manipulated. Try hitting the refresh page tab (aka purge) since the cache may need wiping. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 17:19, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
I did that. Next time, I might try nuking the cache directly, rather than relying on Ctrl+F5. In any case, thanks. -Devan 17:10, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
He didn't really mean your browser cache, but I can easily see how you were confused there. --Callek 21:01, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
I should note that the "refresh" tab is only admin visible (as far as I recall). --Callek 21:01, 20 February 2009 (UTC)
Whoops. Never noticed that. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 23:14, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Template:Shield

Having a problem with Template:Shield. There's a couple protection values that you don't have listed as possible values, for instance "very poor" and "rather low". I didn't want to edit the template because you had previously hard-coded values as 0=none, 1=poor, 2=low, etc. and I was afraid adding the new ones would break it. Azhag 00:30, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Are these values the more specific ones that Paladin's get? Give me a list of what's missing and where each falls in the existing list. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 17:03, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Server Access

A little bird told me you were upset that you don't have server access. Email me and we can discuss this.--Naeya (talk) 02:00, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Server

Hey, do you currently have access to the server? I have a few ideas for additions that would (probably) need to be added as static pages due to limitations in Wiki. Mostly for search related stuffs with semantic MW. (alternative is to host these search pages off of elanthipedia) --Callek 20:10, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Not yet. However, if you want to give me an idea of what you want, maybe I could suggest a way to do it while you wait. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 20:29, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
Basically a form (or two, or more) to activate the Semantic Search with various parameters. I was thinking of doing it via actual forms, JS, etc. We can't even link to the Semantic form (easily?) with a '+' character, so this makes it much much harder to do so via wiki, and of course I can't include any JS in wiki. Idea's of "Jugglies", "Medium Shields in Zoluren, metal" etc. "not fest." Ideas to utilize Semantic Mediawiki, but still providing a User Friendly way to search useful formats of it. --Callek 22:10, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
To a certain exent, it could be done via form. Have it edit a specific page, remove the save option (preview would be sufficient). I was thinking of doing it....but I forget why I stopped. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 22:15, 24 February 2009 (UTC)
In my opinion doing it as an edit might be confusing for many, and harder to achieve (I don't think the "Semantic Forms" can achieve the ease-of-use I was hoping) But I can look into that and see what I can come up with, and failing everything else, I can create a page for hosting here (or on an external website) --Callek 22:59, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Incomplete?

What exactly makes a page incomplete and what sort of information needs to be added for it to be complete? This question is mainly in reguard to NPC pages. - Inauri at 0815 EST on 25FEB09

I think i can answer this one, any missing data, location, description, gender, race, ect. --Legeres 16:11, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Okay, basically you can tell by going down to the semantic factbox at the end and looking for the tag "missing". That should tell you what's missing, OR if it just says something like "Infobox information missing" it means that it hasn't processed things correctly, and you need to edit and save without changing anything.
Basically, we set up the template to check and see if the missing tag is present and if it is, display the incomplete tag. However, it doesn't check the page itself, it checks the server database of everything that has a missing tag. But it only seems to check when you SAVE the page, so if the database hasn't been updated to show no missing tags by the time you save it (like sometimes right after you complete a form), it will still think the page is incomplete.
I hope that makes sense. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 17:08, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

FoundInProvince

Hey, can you try and muck with Template:FoundInProvince I can't seem to get it to work right, I have a few ideas on getting this all working nice. (I'm at work so have to take a break from that)--Callek 18:40, 25 February 2009 (UTC)

I can't even figure out what you were trying to do. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 06:14, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Create a template where I can pass in a page name, where it then extracts all "Found in" properties from the page, and only displays them if said page is in Category:Provinces --Callek 13:46, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Okay, check back and look what I did. I had to use 3 templates to do it, so it's not pretty, but is that what you wanted? -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 22:41, 26 February 2009 (UTC)
Basically yes, but I was hoping to use this for things like "Cities" etc. as well (which I suppose we can do this all manually for list, as it doesn't change too often). But what does concern me is the added "," at the end of that list, which is why I was trying to limit the actual list of places. And actually it fails... see the page now --Callek 00:26, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
Err yes it "works right" but doesn't have any semblance of actually removing blank entries! --Callek 00:28, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Any thoughts/solutions to factbox issue(s)? I'm really really missing them, and want things working as they were. --Callek 03:36, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Working on it. It's not going to be easy. I don't know, Naeya doesn't know. And I don't have a huge amount of time to spend on it till Thursday. We'll see. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 03:44, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
I finally had time to look into this, and VOILA!
{QUOTE}[1.3] Since SMW 1.3, the Factbox is hidden by default and will only appear. As a compensation, the toolbox (usually on the left below the search field) shows a link to Special:Browse. To use the display behaviour of the Factbox as it was before SMW 1.3, set $smwgShowFactbox = SMW_FACTBOX_NONEMPTY; The new link and the Factbox during editing can also be configured; see SMW_Settings.php for details. {/QUOTE}

I think you'll have noticed I've not done anything around here lately. Been massively busy in personal life. (may even suspend DR for a bit). Favor Orbs

I just happen to be passing by, and noticed your change there... I seemed to recall "will NOT leak" being said by a GM, where did you hear that they DO? --Callek 03:26, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Because I just experienced it. Filled an orb up, waited a couple days. Found it was no longer full. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 03:31, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Did you gather MORE THAN ONE orb at a time? Did you gain any exp (ranks), did you circle, did you die, did you activate another orb, did you change any stats? --Callek 03:43, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Basically I had read that they do not leak, but the amount of "bits" needed to fill [x] favor with certain stats can potentially change. So once you commit exp to the orb, said exp won't go away. --Callek 03:44, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Either individual ranks matter, or it leaks. No circles gained, 3 or 4 ranks gained, no stats trained, no deaths. Had 2 orbs, gotten at the same time, filled at the same time. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 03:46, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
...Had 2 orbs... Did the FIRST of those two leak, or the second? (as in, did the very first one you attempted to get a favor with, actually give you said favor, or did the very first one you did that with "leak")? --Callek 03:50, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
No idea which one it was, they were both full. Grabbed one, tossed it on the altar, didn't give me a favor, so I had to rub it once before tossing it back on. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 03:53, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
So to be perfectly clear, steps to reproduce: grab 2 favors; fill both; wait a few days (gain a few ranks); DO NOT: circle, die, place any orb on altar, or raise any stats; Place ONE of your two current (filled) orbs on altar; get message that you need to rub again? --Callek 03:55, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Exactly. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 03:56, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
Hmm, guess I'll be hunting for that GM post/thread one of these days. --Callek 03:58, 3 April 2009 (UTC)

Kraelyst's Site

Hey, I posted this both on the BOAT discussion page and the SCRIPT discussion page, but I want to make sure it's noted. Kraelyst's site is dead - they haven't played for at least 2 years now. I know 1. the travel scripts are pretty large and may or may not fit on an Elanthipedia page, but I think they should definitely be archived somewhere. The links on the script page currently don't work. Most everything appears to be saved right now on ARCHIVE.ORG. 2. The boat information needs to be copied over and placed on the boat page. I put the FAQ in the discussion page, but it's huge. The ship travel scripts should also be archived - they're generally smaller and shouldn't be an issue. However, I'm not as wiki-savvy as most people, so I didn't want to attempt moving them. I didn't add the FAQ to the main BOAT page simply because it's HUGE and doesn't seem like it should all be on one page. Anyway - I wanted to let you know so you, as a moderator were aware of the status of www.lurksponge.com - thanks! --Ysselt 20:17, 13 May 2009 (UTC)

Elven ring in glittering metal egg

I have this ring and am willing to put the information up for it, but what's the best way to do it? I turns into 5-10 different things each looking different. I'm not the best with item pages, so I could just post all the data and let you figure it out. ;) --Choson 20:47, 14 May 2009 (UTC)

Blood Stanch Change

What did you mean by "precasting will not prevent bleeding from new bleeders, and does not teach. Only a cast after a bleeder is received is effective" in the blood staunching article? That sentence is confusing to me, and seems to imply that pre-casting blood staunching will not prevent vitality loss from bleeding wounds received while the spell is in effect but has not actually "kicked in." This is directly counter to my experiences with the spell. I've added a demo/explanation to the talk page of that article so we can try to clear this up. Prime-Lorzelophia 13:02, 19 May 2009 (UTC)

Evil SMW

Have you come any closer to discovering why the SMW is still being impossible? --Naeya (talk) 19:33, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

Sigh, no. I've contacted the Sourceforge help mailing list, and gotten "wow that's odd, no idea." I also talked to some other people who run semantic wiki on their sites, no luck. I'm tempted to just wipe and reinstall everything, but I'm not going to do that without a much better understanding of software and a certainty we wouldn't lose any pages. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 18:39, 22 May 2009 (UTC)

Demon

Give me a few days on this one; it requires a bit of delving into some old logs and whatnot of mine to confirm a few suspicions. I do not think elementals or Plane of Probability spirits are regarded as demons except in the most casual (incorrect) lay-person sense, and I'll be able to qualify that if I get some research to back it up. Coordinate Chart

In light of the last known archive website available to download the Coordinate Chart having a trojan, I was wondering what the possibility of hosting a clean copy of the executable file on elanthipedia is. Is it even possible? I think its likely to be beyond the scope of a wiki page, but it doesn't hurt to ask/get clarification, I suppose.--Evran 13:41, 16 April 2010 (UTC)

Appraisal Values

Some people are adding appraisal values that are converted (I assume by script) from Dokoras or Lirums into Kronars. These conversions are sometimes off due to differences in rounding. You may want to put a note not to use converted appraisals. --Isharon 21:44, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Woolly References

Heya talking to jaedren today I was wondering if it was Woolly or Wooly tanglefoot. It should be Woolly(2 L's). I wasn't sure how you wanted to change that since there's an entry on Wooly and Woolly, and there's a few typo's in game, the trading cards(he said that'd be fine unchanged) and the Bardic recall(he said that should be changed in game). --Powerhaus 2 sept 2010

That's odd. From what I gather from talking to Raesh, the recall basically pulls from the card itself. Maybe I misunderstood. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 18:48, 2 September 2010 (UTC)

ah there was a post they fixed it... i meant the pedia articles though, I guess delete the wooly article and just find and replace the other instances with Woolly. --Powerhaus 2 sept 2010

Player Elf Categories

I do not want to mess anything up by trying to do it myself since I am not exactly sure what you did, but I just wanted to mention that not all of the Clan categories are done. I noticed two PCs still showing up on the NPC list for Forest Elves, for instance. --Rangergls 04 AUG 10

Noted, and thanks. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 20:00, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

Heya

re: your note
Cyia wanted a page, and she's not good at the code, so I just made one up for her real quick, and said I'd clean up whatever she decided to put there later. Also did the same for Meanne(page building), but she's edited it since then. Lemme know if you got any issues or anything, I can just give C a formated version of whatever that she can just paste if that works better.

New At This...

Caraamon,

I am sorry I am really new at this so I don't even know if this is how I should be contacting you. Wanted to say first "thank you" for all the work you and everyone else here have done. It has been an enormous aide to me. Second, I saw that you were looking for an update to the "Glyph of Warding" page? I have never edited a wiki page before so I am pretty uninformed. However, I was wondering what information you were looking for?

If I put this in the wrong place, this message, my sincere apologies.

--Malchazador 03:04, 22 April 2010 (UTC) 8)

This is exactly how you do it, so no worries, and thanks. Basically, the page hasn't been updated since the new depart mechanics went in, and I know glyph of warding was changed then. I just don't remember how it now interacts with the new mechanics. Don't worry about the editing, just try your best and one of the many people who work on this site will come along and fix any formatting issues. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 05:44, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for getting back to me. I did find a few posts by Dartenian about departing with a ward as well as the new "glyph" command which is meant to replace "trace". I can paste them in or something, but I am currently looking at the page in edit mode and I have to admit, I'm really overwhelmed and think I'm out of my league. I am really sorry. I can paste in the info I think. But formatting it correctly I think is out of my skill set right now. I hope I don't mess anything up.

The Great Outdoors

This freakin' shop SWITCHED its prices in the middle of me trying to figure out how to use a Wiki ... The day before they were in Kronars (same as the shop's been the other two times it appeared) and some time last night they switched to Lirums (although everything in the shop still apps in Kronars). Is that what you're referring to?

EDIT: Ooooo I see, two pages. I'mma attempt to update the (2) page to Lirums.

Skizzy 13:26, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Updated prices on Great Outdoors, The (2) to appropriate Lirums values. Sorry for letting my n00b show, but is adding an item page as simple as adding a tag for it? There's a bullwhip missing from that crate. Will try to find that answer for myself while I update the rest of those. =D

13:53, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Edit the page, take a look at how it's all set up. If it still makes no sense to you, post all the info you have on the Talk page and someone will make the edit for you. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 22:21, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

Couple things I've had trouble reverse engineering (namely that Bardic Journey, The =/= The Bardic Journey, and how to list an item's slot as "tied to hair") but I think I'm getting the hang of it without leaving any stupid mistakes behind. Skizzy 23:05, 17 May 2010 (UTC) Redirect for the bard shop noted, and appreciated! Skizzy 23:56, 17 May 2010 (UTC)

To set an item as hair worn depends on if you're doing it by hand or with the Form. The Form has a drop down menu that'll set where an item is worn, just select Hair. If you're doing the work by hand, "|Wearloc=hair". When setting Wearloc, make sure you set the Type as well. Even if you properly set the location, if you don't set one of the Types to Jewelry, Clothing or Container the page will not display the worn location.
-Glimmereyes 01:48, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Wearloc=hair is "placed in the hair," no? There's a separate slot for "tied to the hair" and that's the one I can't figure out how to pick. Skizzy 08:00, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

As far as I know, there's no difference. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 08:03, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

All of your items worn tied to the hair: a makeshift hair tie of braided sinew

Nonexisting Character Pages

Moved this discussion over here. I'm not talking about a glut of PC pages. I'm talking about pages of characters that DON'T exist at all. Example: http://www.elanthipedia.com/wiki/Ena It's for someone's house pet. Another example: http://www.elanthipedia.com/wiki/Thewonmisral He states the character will probably never be actually seen and is just part of history (though I know things change, so you know, that'd be something to confirm.) These are the examples I'm talking about - not actually played characters. The hedgehog as an NPC really bothers me for the precedent it could set. --Ysselt 04:13, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

I completely agree. Bring those type of pages to moderator attention and they'll be squashed. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 04:24, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

juggling list

Caraamon, if you get a chance, could you have a look at the juggling table I started in my sandbox/juggle. The current list of juggling items on the perception page doesn't list the vast majority of the jugglies we have as items. I thought it would make more sense to compile the table based on "juggle" item types instead. However, with the current item templates, only store-bought juggling items will list their source. That's at least as far as I can get... I'm not so good with figuring out templates. If you're able to work out a solution, I'll go through and get the current perception page list itemized.

Thanks for fixing my Gorbesh Captain's items, by the way. That was making me crazy.

Concept Pages

Hi there Caraamon. What's up with all of the "Concept" pages that show up in Special:BrokenRedirects? If you visit those pages, it looks like they're correctly redirecting to Item pages. Is that a bug of some sort? I've been trying to fix broken redirects but I don't know what to do about those.

Never heard exactly what caused it, but during an update a while back most of the pages from the Item name space where moved to the Concept name space. All the pages have been moved back to their proper name and I've slowly been deleting the Concept pages, but don't always think to fix/Delete the pages linking to the Concept.
Short answer, either ignore the Concept pages or tag them with the Delete template. Pages that redirect to Concept pages should be altered to point to the Item name space.

Duplicate Posts

I'm not sure which to keep. This is the original Post:My_Pyre_is_Broke_:( which links from the Phoenix's Pyre page, and this is the one just created Post:My_Pyre_is_Broke_:(_*NUDGE*_-_7/21/2010_-_14:42:55 with as yet no links I'm aware of. I'll leave it up to you to decide which is the correct format, since creating post pages confuses me. ;)--Evran 02:24, 6 August 2010 (UTC)

Away

Hey, I've been away the past few months (again). Do we need any site maintenance stuff or not? (Been way way busy with real life, job for bills etc, still not back in DR etc.) --Callek 22:03, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Nothing dire. Just continue to poke around like you always do. :P -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 03:29, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
