Study

The <jewelry> possesses an unusual Life magic enchantment that straddles the line between conventional Empath and Ranger magic specialties. The magically relevant piece of the jewelery is the <material>, which contains the vital energy and essence of a venomous creature. By invoking the trinket, its owner can magically summon (or construct, the difference in this case borders on academic) the creature to do a limited number of services.

If the trinket is POINTed or WAVEd at someone while the creature is summoned, it will spit up acidic or venomous liquid respectively. The creature's capacity to hit a moving target is analogous to its summoner's general skill at missile weapons. It can spit up both liquids once each per hour.

However, if the trinket is PUSHed instead the creature will imbue its summoner with a form of vampiric venom. Similiar in function to weapon enchantments of the same name, this will allow the occasional attack with a weapon (or unarmed attack) to siphon off an additional bit of vital energy from the victim. This venom remains active for 15 roisaen and can be safely imbued in the summoner once every four hours.

And, of course, the summoner may INVOKE the trinket as often as they like, to summon or dismiss the creature. While not functionally useful by itself, it may be regarded as cute.

Focus

The <metal> <jewelry> has a definite magical pattern.
You recognize it as a manifestation of Life magic.
The pattern is rather unusual, somewhat reminiscent of a Lunar summoning spell more than a normal Life enchantment. It uses the material at the center of the trinket to store the life force of a simple creature, and then reconstitutes or, grimly, deconstructs it on demand. The ethicalness of the enchantment aside, it neatly sidesteps the absolute prohibition that Life magic cannot create life out of nothing.
You believe you would learn more about its exact function by studying it.

Effects

Invoke

A subtle twist of light dances around the <material> <decoration> of your <jewelry>. From seemingly nowhere, a <style2> <material> <pest> <modification2> around your head and glows excitedly.

Note: Shows up in your look, after where a tattoo can go, as "A <style2> <material> <pest> <modification2> buzzes around your head, glowing with inexhaustible energy." The pest also works as a light source.

Point

You point a <style> <metal> <jewelry> <modification> <material> <decoration> at a ship's rat.
With a distressed gurgle, a <style2> <material> <pest> <modification2> projects a stream of sticky semi-fluid at a ship's rat!
The spit splashes onto a ship's rat's chest!

A ship's rat twists in agony as acid burns away its chest.

Note: Hits the target with armor-ignoring acid. Uses Missile Mastery skill to check if it lands. 1 hour cooldown.

Wave

You wave your <metal> <jewelry> at a ship's rat.
With a loud hiss, a <style2> <material> <pest> <modification2> projects a stream of clear, liquid venom at a ship's rat!
The spit splashes onto a ship's rat's back!

Note: Hits the target with internal poison. Uses Missile Mastery skill to check if it lands. 1 hour cooldown.

Push

A <style2> <material> <pest> <modification2> lands on your shoulder for a moment. While it perches there, you feel something hot and viscous flowing from it into your body. The sensation lasts even after the <pest> takes wing again.

Note: Adds vampirism effect that is weighted toward vitality but can also steal fatigue to occasional melee and ranged attacks for 15 minutes. 4 hour cooldown.

Cooldown: The feeling of unnatural warmth fades as the vampiric venom leaves your system.
