The following are live in the Platinum instance, available for preview. After 3 days, they will go on general preview in all instances.

ANIMATION

Call from Within
<"The Call from Within spell is a Philosopher innovation to the classical skeletal minions known to accompany the necromancers of old. While the undead are assuredly soulless, those raised by high-end Animation magic need not be mindless. Bones animated by this spell will assemble anew into a stealthy, cunning creature, with spellcasting capacity of its own and some of its master's knowledge.">

  • New spell!
  • This is a cyclic spell that will create a stealthy, spellcaster minion. There are two methods of casting: (1) On a corpse prepared to Arise, similar to Call from Beyond but without the need to heal the corpse. (2) On harvested material prepared with Acid Splash. Both methods will produce equally effective pets; the difference is cosmetic.
  • The minion can cast Visions of Darkness and Vivisection. If you know Alkahest Edge or Sidhlot's Flaying, so will the minion.
  • Works with Ghoulflesh, Necrotic Reconstruction, and Reverse Putrefaction. A defensive RPU will also buff the minion's stealth.
  • Can coexist with other Animation pets.
  • Requires Call from Beyond, Visions of Darkness, and Vivisection. Costs 3 spell slots.

Necrotic Reconstruction

  • Now capable of fully healing a corpse with one cast.

Spiteful Rebirth

Covetous Rebirth

  • Moved from Transcendental Necromancy to Animation.
  • New prerequisite is Spiteful Rebirth.
  • Can now be learned from the Qi guildleader (in addition to Ilithi and Forfedhdar).

CORRUPTION

Visions of Darkness

  • Debuff mechanics have been modernized and should now be consistent with similar effects.
  • Can now be cast while hidden or invisible. Much like Vivisection, it will always show the caster's name to the victim, while contesting the perception of everyone in the room.
  • As a particularly stealthy spell, it will no longer alarm townsfolk.
  • Against a victim afflicted with Visions of Darkness, Vivisection will now be targeted faster, based on VoD integrity, and prefer to hit the eyes. This will work in conjunction with Call from Within and its ability to autocast VoD and Vivisection.
  • For the benefit of the CfW synergy, casting VoD on an already afflicted creature will redirect the cast to another, unafflicted creature instead. Recasting on players will attempt to refresh the spell with a longer duration.

SYNTHETIC CREATION

Universal Solvent

  • Pulse rate has been greatly reduced, and the first pulse is now delayed. Note that this spell still pulses faster than comparable spells.

Philosopher's Preservation

  • Now also buffs Stamina. Slot cost increased to 4. Difficulty increased to Intermediate.
  • Moved from Transcendental Necromancy to Synthetic Creation. Consequently, it no longer incurs Divine Outrage and may safely be cast by the Redeemed. Still illegal in towns.
  • New prerequisite is Researcher's Insight.

TRANSCENDENTAL NECROMANCY

Calcified Hide

  • No longer buffs Stamina. Slot cost decreased to 2.

ANABASIS

Book Burning
<"Rife with symbolic cynicism, the Book Burning spell produces an echo of your ruined purity that once was, a reminder of all that you have lost. This echo will light your way and bring cleansing soulfire upon the wrongs which must be righted. When you strike your foes with your magics, Book Burning will support you, marking them with all the fiery rage of your sins.">

  • New spell!
  • This is a ritual spell that will create a spectral torch. Meant to be a significant part of a Redeemed's damage output, it has a chance to fire TM attacks following any single-target offensive spell you cast. The torch can be worn or held -- the latter will lend added accuracy to its attacks.
  • Activation chance is higher against cursed targets. Against cursed/undead creatures, activation is guaranteed. Against cursed players, it depends on their level of Divine Outrage or soul corruption.
  • Provides lighting.
  • You may obtain an Anabasis ritual focus by bringing a Maelshyvean hierophant's tentacle to Emuin.
  • Requires Emuin's Candlelight and 50th circle. Costs 3 spell slots.

Relight
<"Relight is a spell of second chances. There are times when the candle may seem heavier than one can carry, its price unbearable. With this spell you may purify your Candlelight and turn over a clean new leaf.">

  • New spell!
  • This is a metaspell that will allow you to cleanse the damage stored by Emuin's Candlelight, using the RELIGHT verb.
  • RELIGHT CHECK will display your charge and cooldown status. The spell has 2 charges and regains 1 charge every 15 minutes. However, cooldown will be paused if EMC is not active and your reactor slots are otherwise in use.
  • As a secondary effect, knowing this spell will greatly increase how much damage EMC can store.
  • Usable while hidden, webbed, or immobile.
  • Requires Emuin's Candlelight. Costs 2 spell slots.

Emuin's Candlelight

  • No longer buffs Evasion. Slot cost decreased to 1.

Ebon Blood of the Scorpion

  • Vitality barrier amount generated by Siphon Vitality has been increased. This matches the vitality barrier cap increase that the spell received during Barrier Review before.
  • SV vitality barrier now lasts 10-40 minutes, proportional to its hitpoints at the time of the cast.
  • If you have no available reactor slot for EBotS, SV will now retain its original vitality drain.

Rite of Forbearance

  • Barrier piercing capability has been greatly improved. As originally intended, a full-strength RoF should now be able to pierce any combination of integrity barriers.

Lastly, a heads-up: If you’re logged in when these changes are deployed live, the spells which switched books (SRE, CRE, PHP) will be unusable until your next login.
