This is a consolidated page that describes the mechanics of an item with many cosmetic variations, such as Hollow Eve gifts. Please document functionality, verbs, and other important information here instead of posting it on individual item pages. This ensures that all of the documentation is on one page instead of having it scattered across multiple pages; it also simplifies collaboration.

You may still create/edit individual item pages to add looks and other appraisal data, but please include a link to this page where players can read about how the item works.

For use see Divination prism.

Verbs

You turn your prism about, carefully evaluating the craftsmanship.
Unfortunately you don't really have the experience you'd need to make a proper evaluation.
  • FOCUS: A delicate web of Lunar magic resides within the prism. The pattern seems oddly incomplete, as if is only part of a larger design; however, you are certain that the magic is rooted in divination.
  • RECALL: Favored by the Monks of the Crystal Hand, the prism is a divination tool used by Moon Mages. As the prism spins in the air, the mage interprets the patterns of colors and light to determine what the future holds. It is fitting that a group devoted to perfection and the identification of personal flaws would excel at predicting what is to come by studying how such colors and fractures echo from the hidden flaws of the crystal.
  • STUDY:
You study the prism and determine that:
You could meditate on someone to focus your divination. Alternately you could break, clean, cough at, gasp at, gaze at, hug, peer at, poke, rub, or smile at the prism.
Are you certain you want to do that? It doesn't seem like the sort of action you can go back on.
[You must repeat this command in the next 30 seconds if you are certain. This will destroy the prism.]
  • CLEAN: You rub at a smudge on your crystal prism, trying to get it clean.
  • COUGH AT: You breathe on your crystal prism and polish it distractedly.
  • GASP AT: Gazing into your crystal prism, you notice an odd trick of light that causes you to catch your breath.
  • GAZE AT: You cradle your crystal prism in the palm of your hand and grow still as you gaze into its depths.
  • note: BUG submitted 06/20, the STUDY indicates you should GAZE AT, however the verb only works with GAZE
  • HUG: You hug your crystal prism, protecting it with your body.
  • PEER AT: You hold your crystal prism aloft and peer at it intently.
  • POKE: You absentmindedly roll your crystal prism between your thumb and forefinger.
  • RUB: You rub your hand along the prism's edges.
  • SMILE AT: You smile to yourself, confident in your charm and wit.
