Scholarship skill

Scholarship is used to more effectively teach and learn from being taught. It is also used to determine how much information you can obtain from the Recall command. It may also have some other benefits especially for Moon Mages and Bards. Empaths, Moon Mages and Paladins all have scholarship as a circling requirement.

Teaching

Teaching is the art of conveying concepts and ideas to others in such way as to improve the students' ability in the subject being taught.

Class Size

Student size is now as many as will listen in to the class. Scholarship ranks will impact how well one teaches, but virtually anyone can teach any class regardless of skill in the topic or scholarship skill.

Factors

How well one teaches one's students and your students learn depends on several factors. Scholarship, Charisma, other mental Attributes, skillset of the subject being taught, and race all play their various parts. Some skills have special factors on top of these. Guilds with guild-only skills can only teach them to members of that guild.

While it is possible to teach to a person who has more skill, this teaches poorly, both for the teacher and student.

Also, more experience is gained by teaching in locations that you would expect to be taught: classrooms, academies, etc.

Special Note: Teaching or listening to someone who is the same race and or guild as you is more effective and thereby trains better.

In Combat

Not all skills can be taught in combat. All guilds can teach armor skills, weapon skills, Skinning, or Evasion in combat and some guilds have extra skills they can teach.

Training

Some ways of training Scholarship include:

  • Listening to a class on something other than Scholarship. Listening to a class on Scholarship is now wasteful due to the teaching changes.[1]
  • Teaching a class of any subject.
  • Reading books at a library.
  • Reading guild renown lists.
  • Studying compendiums/anatomy charts. (Also teaches Empathy skill to Empaths and First Aid skill to all guilds)
  • Studying spellbooks.
  • Studying patterns for embroidery.
  • Studying instructions for origami.
  • Reading primers for bead carving.
  • Reading enchantment scolls (Moon Mage only).
  • Studying trading ledgers (Trader only).
  • Using the Recall command.
  • Studying art.
  • Reading crafting books.
