Instruments are the primary way which all players learn and use the performance skill. While some can be played alone, many others require a tool in order to use correctly. Ownership of an instrument can also allow a user to practice the appraisal skill by utilizing the ASSESS command to see greater details about it. While only Bards and Traders are able to get all the information about an instrument through ASSESS, any member of any guild can get basic knowledge.
In addition to the ASSESS command, all instruments are able to be used with the RECALL system. Use of RECALL does not grant any experience in any skill, but does provide players with a simple way to find out more about the instrument itself like construction or how it is played.
String
Many of these instruments require a pick or a bow to play properly.
