- RECALL: The simple cowbell is a member of the percussion family and composed out of metal that has been shaped into a narrow vessel that expands into a wide opening at its base. A small strap affixed to the apex of the cowbell allows the percussion instrument to be worn on the wrist, allowing the metal clapper on its inside to be shaken with ease. The unpretentious instrument has come a long ways from its origins as a farmer's tool.
