Used in bunches to create a chorus of merry chimes, hollow spheres of metal have a pea-sized ball inside that knocks against their enclosure when shaken. Able to be attached to virtually anything, a traditional instrument consists of strip of leather or wooden handle fixed with neat rows of bells. Often attached to sleighs or used at winter festivals, their jingling is believed to represent falling snowflakes.
