Appearance

You see Slum Lord Fiasko Blackrat, Immigrant of Ratha, a S'Kra Mur.

An Rathan-style uaro's'sugi weighted by dark-jeweled ends is folded to obscure Fiasko's face, hiding all but a narrow strip of ghostly green scales around his eyes.
He has a partially severed tail.

He is wearing a black bowler hat, a pompous smuggler's rat, a gaudy counterfeit gamantang, a gem-studded money bag, a dark-jeweled nightsilk sash with a skull-gripped gentleman's cane hanging from it and some designer den loafers flaunting dapper tel'athi heel caps.

History

Rathan Years

  • Born into the prominent S'kra Mur Gamant Lisska'Vran of Ratha. Was known as a mischievous youth who constantly bucked authority.
  • Suffered an unknown "accident" as a child resulting in a partially severed tail. (Even to this day, he spews random and unlikely stories whenever questioned on the deformation)
  • Shunned from his Ru'at and Gamant as a half-Smozh. He was branded as Fiasko and stripped of his lineage and name.
  • Survived in the gutters of the Neh docks where he developed a reputation for his more nefarious traits along with a horrid sense of humor.
  • A regular with the Malk'smo Constables and the Reshalian Prison System, he eventually received a lengthy prison sentence, organized a jail break, and stowed away on a merchant ship sailing for Zoluren.

Becoming the Blackrat

  • Seeing the Crossing as a ripe target, Fiasko immediately began working the streets, taking on the alias "The Blackrat". He carved out a block on the city's West side, claiming it as his turf.
  • These shenanigans quickly caught the eye of the Shadows. He was thugged and drug before the Sly who presented two options: Join the Guild or be fed to the rats.
  • Never one to make the smart decision, Fiasko called Kalag's "bluff" - resulting in a viscous beating and a cage deep in the Crossing sewers infested with starving rats.
  • Weeks later, two Enforcers returned dragging a new "rat food candidate" to the cage. To their surprise they found a grinning Fiasko, emaciated but quite alive, petting a lithe black rat which sat comfortably on his shoulder.
  • Impressed with his resilience, the Sly offered Fiasko an apprenticeship directly under his tutelage (which he prudently accepted).
  • Over time the Brothers and Sisters of the Guild become his Ru'at, earning his unquestionable loyalty.

Altered Items

a tattoo of the words -Reshalian Prison System- in faded ink above the numbers 06-93-005 on his neck.

You have a once-regal crest marred by long scars which follows the shape of your skull with a garish gold-capped tooth underscoring an unscrupulous smirk

a gem-studded money bag

  • Look: Crushed blue velvet flows in luxurious folds, encrusted with a multitude of sapphires, amethysts, and rubies in a swirling, abstract pattern. The profusion of gemstones juxtaposed against the dark, fluid cloth creates a rippling appearance when struck by light as if reflecting upon moving water. An unobtrusive onyx clasp hinged with blackened steel secures the flap when closed.
  • Info: Original item: Multi-strapped carryall, designed by Kingdok

a gaudy counterfeit gamantang

  • Look: Contrasting the luxurious purple fabric, midnight-black wildlace winds like a serpent about the wearer's arms and shoulders, bearing the repeating pattern of daggers accented by tiny crystalline droplets. Generous hems have been adorned with an assortment of gemstones in a blatant attempt at extravagance. The innermost layer is composed of a deep green swath of silk, intended for both comfort and to muffle the sound of any items concealed beneath.
  • Read: "Designed by Hashaal" (reference to Hashal, owner of Hashal's Haven)
  • Info: Original item: austere scalene gamantang with a high collar, altered by the Spidersworn at Hollow Eve Festival 436

a pompous smuggler's rat

  • Look: Two sanguine-hued jewels, pushed deep into the rodent's eye sockets, glimmer darkly as if scrutinizing any who dare pass by. Large claws allow the rat to perch on the shoulder when worn, providing an elevated vantage point to peer down upon its subjects. The lithe body is covered in silky black fur which appears far too luscious for such a creature, while its long tail swings about in a seemingly annoyed fashion in response to even the slightest movement.
  • Info: Original item:scruffy black plague rat with beady red eyes, Corn Maze Alteration Scroll

a Rathan-style uaro's'sugi weighted by dark-jeweled ends

  • Look: Woven in a manner common to the isle of Ratha, the garment is tailored to drape about the head and neck in a style intended to protect against the brutal weather of the open sea or the prying eyes of the city guards. A multitude of lustrous gemstones provide weight to the trailing end, arranged in the traditional sharmiit'mhhg style. Fringing the intricate pattern is a faded patch bearing the crest of Gamant Lisska'Vran.
  • Info: Original item:austere uaro's'sugi of unadorned black Musparan silk, altered by Sindah during Hollow Eve Festival 439

a dark-jeweled nightsilk sash

  • Look: Flowing nightsilk dyed in smoky hues conceals twin cobra-fanged skulls affixed to a leathery belt. Meant to secure a weapon's hilt between the gaping serpent jaws, each skull provides a means to flaunt the wearer's arsenal at an optimal angle for an expeditious draw. Extending downward from the skulls' lower jaws, braided leather tassels suspend flawless dark jewels which sway in reaction to even the most insignificant movement.
  • Info: Original item:musparan silk belt sash, Corn Maze Alteration Scroll

a skull-gripped gentleman’s cane mottled by dark jewels

  • Look: A trio of adderwood saplings contort about each other like writhing serpents to form this sinuous cane. Bound by polished tel'athi bands, the oil-treated shaft has been festooned with dark jewels which seem to exploit even the slightest opportunity to reflect light. A gruesome but well-preserved cobra skull serves as an unorthodox handle, fanged jaw agape as if frozen while lunging for prey. The opposing end terminates in an intricately detailed ferrule formed in the likeness of a serpent's tail.
  • Info: Original item:simple walnut cane, altered by Urdesas during Hollow Eve Festival 439

some designer den loafers flaunting dapper tel'athi heel caps

  • Look: Fashioned from top-shelf serpentine-hide and plush nightsilk, this footwear is ideal for those who value both comfort and style. Intricately engraved tel'athi caps grace the heels, intentionally designed to emit an obnoxious scrape or clack as each and every footfall impacts the ground. Several sound dampening ridges protrude from the outsole allowing the wearer to move silently with an inconspicuous adjustment of their gait.
  • Info: Original item:black loafers with white soles, altered by Megaya during Hollow Eve Festival 443

a smuggler's pack with ka'hurst buckles

  • Look: The deep, rich gloom-hued fabric forms the multi-pocketed bag. The shadowy black buckles emit a strikingly green sheen that glints menacingly with the slightest movement. Tucked almost out of sight in one corner is a small tag.

There appears to be something written on it. A smuggler's pack reads: "Wares by Kalag"

an old jailer's key ring packed full of keys

  • Look: Mundane in appearance, the aged key ring looks like any other used to lock delinquents and scalawags into dingy cells. It has ironically been repurposed to conceal locksmithing tools with very little change to the original design. A locking mechanism embossed with the crest of Gamant Zsikiel prevents the key ring from opening unexpectedly and tumbling it’s contents to the ground. Keys of assorted shapes and sizes dangle from the ring, swaying and clanging together with the slightest motion.
  • Info: Original item:Bloodwood lockpick ring shaped like a flock of butcherbirds, altered by Megaya during Hollow Eve Festival 439

a darkened taishar's hauberk shrouded in shadowy nightsilk

  • Look: Made dark by time and design, a complex pattern of tel'athi rings snake about each other like a quiver of writhing cobras to form the intricate armor. A swath of nightsilk flows through the links, the excess falling about the wearer's chest and back, minimizing potential reflections and dampening the rings of metal against metal. Detailed tel'athi clasps secure the shadowy fabric at the shoulders, each depicting a blank charger shrouded by a concealing veil.
  • Info: Original item:heavy chain hauberk emblazoned with a blue-white phoenix, altered by Kaavia during Estate Holder Mini-Fest 442

a jewel-edged shield with swooning maidens stylized across the boss

  • Look: Inscribed eccentrically across the boss is a bevy of swooning maidens vying for the attention of a well-muscled and finely dressed S'kra rendered in a flamboyant pose. The rim is reinforced with thick, aged leather adorned with a repeating pattern of gold herons clutching oversized jewels in their dagger-like bills.

A jewel-edged shield reads: "Rule all of Elanthia or join Idon's sounder of pigs!"

an umbral hood shrouded in thick nightsilk layers

  • Look: Layer after layer of thick material has been strategically draped about the titanese armor partially obscuring the wearer's face without hindering their vision. The luxurious fabric's deep purples mix with black undertones in hypnotic swirls across the slightly textured fabric. Stitched inconspicuously into the trim is a small heraldic shield depicting an open hand revealing a lockpick, an empty purse, and a dark figure backstabbing a beast.
  • Info: Original item:padded titanese hood sealed with protective wax, altered by Megaya during Hollow Eve Festival 447

an Eth'ral'khh-incised skull crown

  • Look: The narrow reptilian skull has been preserved and treated leaving the surface bleached and splotchy. A purple substance is rubbed into scrawling Eth'ral'khh ideograms etched across the parietal bone. Jagged teeth line the upper jaw, embellished by twin prosthetic tel'athi fangs which threaten nearly to draw blood when worn. A faceted dwalgim has been inset between the empty eye sockets, portraying the unwavering, stony gaze of a simulated third eye observing every angle of its surroundings.
  • Info: Original item:elven gold crown displaying a massive green dwalgim, altered by Lotus Weaver Urdesas Arathaire during Hollow Eve Festival 450

a multi-strapped smuggler's longcoat

  • Look: Numerous oiled leather straps at the chest, shoulders, waist, and arms cinch the midnight-black wildlace close to the body, ensuring a snug, unhindered fit. While the exterior appears void of storage, the interior contains hidden pockets for concealing contraband without providing the authorities a trail to follow. The words "Never Buy, Only Liberate" have been stitched in purple thread in large font between the shoulder blades.
  • Info: Original item:deeply-hooded black snakeskin longcoat, altered by The Spidersworn during Hollow Eve Festival 450

a Reshalian rigging pin

  • Look: Shaped in a manner commonplace aboard ships originating from Qi'Reshalia, the device is traditionally used to secure rigging. A masterfully carved map of the Reshalian Sea curves about the surface of the diamondwood shaft depicting key landmarks. Surmounting the handle is a voluptuously carved sea maiden clutching a nearly flawless scoundrel's diamond. The slogan "Never Buy, Only Liberate" is engraved on the brass seal capping the opposing end.
  • Info: Original item:glittery diamondwood belaying pin edged with svelae stars, altered by Megaya during Hollow Eve Festival 450

Custom Title

an old yak rider's satchel

  • Look: The leather satchel appears worn and is riddled with patches and other evidence of stitching and repair. Emblazoned in the leather of the flap is a man leading a shadowy charger, and a ship with a diamond on the sails, separated by a diagonal line, emblem of the Trader's Guild.
  • Info: Original item: Multi-strapped carryall, designed by Kingdok
