Note that the following article is not necessarily accurate due to their status as a player-run organization. Because these types of articles are maintained by players about players there is always the risk of alteration due to malice or desire for anonymity. This page will be monitored by the staff, and should it become a battleground, it will be locked down and risk deletion. -Moderator Caraamon Strugr-Makdasi(talk) 23:20, 17 January 2009 (UTC) |
Description
The primary purpose of the Idon Raiders is to engage in player-run provincial invasions (as opposed to GM-run "drone" invasions).
Raiders' Mission Statement: The Idon Raiders do not consider themselves "griefers" but simply a group of players who have a passion for role-playing criminal characters. The Raiders' goal is to provide entertainment for everyone involved in their raids - including the defenders. The Raiders hope to inspire a positive response from their victims and to have fun with the many RP possibilities that emerge during their events.
Raider Emblems: Many Raiders wear a bloodstained leather armband embossed with a large black heron as a token of membership. Other common items are anything heron-themed or Idon-themed.
Worship of Idon
The Idon Raiders view Idon as the patron saint of raiding parties. Although many Raiders worship Idon -- some exclusively -- this is not required for membership.
No-Report Policy
The Idon Raiders are have a strict "No Report" policy as a means of resolution to In-Character conflict. The policy of the organization is that once a member has joined, the reporting of a consent policy violation is prohibited and will result in the removal of that member from the organization. In one case, the Raiders had to enforce this rule when one member reported for PvP.
As of February 23, all Raiders are required to have their PvP Stance set to Open at all time. Those who continue be Closed or Guarded after being notified of the new policy will be removed from the group.

History
These were the only words scrawled on the yellowed, battered, and oddly grease-stained parchment that has become known as "The Accord of the Idon Raiders." To this day the origins of the words are unknown, but the parchment itself was produced from the leg of Ragran's pants the moment a need for such a thing arose. The words were hastily scrawled across the top with many corrections, false starts, and entire lines scratched out, but in the end these stately words were the original contract that bound the members of the group together.
Structure
The Raiders have minimal structure and are an informal organization. At most, they consider themselves criminals who agree to cooperate for a common goal. Like pirates, each Raider has an equal say. Some Raiders have assumed responsibility for certain tasks and are known as Karanea within the group. "Karanea" means "faithful" in Gerenshuge, the native language of Elotheans.

Recruiting
It is the policy of the Raiders to welcome every guild into the group. However, the Raiders do not actively recruit Paladins, because their philosophy is often at odds with that of the Idon Raiders.
Stealing skill is not required. The Raiders believe that a combination of talents is important to the success of any invasion force. The single most important virtues of an Idon Raider are gumption and a desire to have fun.

Raider Highlights
Raider Highlights: A script for StormFront that will add all current Raiders to your name highlights. Raiders and non-Raiders who participate in Raider events should consider adding the Raiders to their name highlights.
The default color is indigo. If you would like to use a different color, replace 8000FF with the hexadecimal code for another color. E3701A is an orange color that shows well.
