A type of amber, sana'ati heart is a clear amber tinted with red that is extracted already hardened from living trees.
Knowledge of their origins was kept a very well-guarded secret until recently by the Rose Sisters of Ain Ghazal. It is said that the gems are harvested from the spot on the trunk where the branches begin to spread. Old Ain Ghazal legend has it that the Sana'ati Dyaus tree of Leth Deriel has magical sana'ati hearts the size of a person's fist.
