Description: | The Moonblade spell channels the light-fire of the moons into a lightweight rapier-like blade excellent for slashing and thrusting. The blade is sturdy, but lasts only for a short while, and may never leave your hand. Those with greater knowledge in heavier edges will find that their created weapons will reflect this talent, becoming aptly suited for that skill.
Effect: | Unknown | |
Example Messaging: | Katamba: A shadow deeper than night oozes into existence in your right hand and coalesces into a long narrow moonblade of dull black which seems to absorb light itself.
Xibar: A shaft of intense white light leaps into being in your right hand and coalesces into a long narrow moonblade of glossy blue-white diamond-hard metal. Yavash: A shaft of ruby-red light leaps into being in your right hand and coalesces into a long narrow moonblade of some fiery, almost liquid substance. Using your right hand, you grasp the flat of the moonblade and try to mold it into a new shape. Using your left hand, you grasp the flat of the moonblade and try to mold it into a new shape. You focus intently on the moonblade, attempting to align your spell casting with its matrix. You attempt to thread your spell through your moonblade. You hold your red-hot moonblade in front of you and make a ritualized sweeping motion toward the ceiling. You gesture at a cold blue-white moonblade. Katamba: < Moving as one fluid extension of power, you slice a curved black moonblade at a scaly seordmaor. A scaly seordmaor fails to evade, failing miserably. The moonblade cuts soundlessly through the air and lands a strong hit that rips the left leg from the hip socket, making a wet popping sound.
Devices/Tattoos: | No devices or tattoos documented. |
Syntax
- CAST <moon> <refresh> <hand>
- You must specify one of the three moons. Refresh is optional and will lengthen the duration of an already existing Moonblade. Hand is optional and lets you designate the hand in which you will try to create or refresh a Moonblade. By default the spell will try both, starting with your right.
- ALIGN MOONBLADE
- Prepares the Moonblade to capture your next spell in the Moonblade's active node.
- FOCUS MOONBLADE
- Provides information about the state of the Moonblade and its nodes.
- SHAPE MOONBLADE TO <primary|secondary|tertiary>
- Activates the chosen node.
- INVOKE MOONBLADE
- Releases the spell in the Moonblade's active node.
- SHAPE MOONBLADE TO <warded|unwarded>
- Disable/reactivate the moonblade's attack messaging.
- SHAPE MOONBLADE
- Shows syntax and possible options for changing the physical structure of the Moonblade to different types of blades.
- See Shape Moonblade spell
Appraisals
Appraisal depends on the current form of the moonblade, and in some cases the weight varies depending on whether or not Shape Moonblade was in effect at the time of shaping. Most forms require SHMO to be cast on the moonblade first. Unlocking all forms takes approximately 350 PM to be able to cast SHMO with enough mana. The minimum mana also changes with more skill in either Arcana or Lunar Magic. The spell also has better templates with the appropriate weaponsmithing techiques. There is also an easter egg on casting moonblade when another spell is up.

Notes
- You can BREAK a moonblade to create slivers to use as first priority ammunition for Telekinetic Throw and Telekinetic Storm.
- The ability to break slivers off of a moonblade is based on the Arcana skill. It takes approximately 104 ranks of Arcana to begin to perform this feat (you will still fail from time to time), and approximately 115-116 to break it consistently.
- The slivers stack up to a maximum of 50 orbiting you at one time.
- You can only have slivers from a single moon orbiting you at one time. If you attempt to create slivers from a different moon, they will instead eliminate an equal number of slivers orbiting you. If you create more slivers than you currently have, the excess will orbit you as normal.
- e.g. If you have 10 red slivers orbiting you and attempt to create 8 blue slivers, 8 red slivers will be destroyed leaving you with 2 red slivers. If you then attempt to create another 9 blue slivers, the remaining 2 red slivers will be destroyed leaving you with 7 blue slivers.
- Slivers will periodically float away on their own 1 to 3 at a time.
- Not all Moonblades can be used to hold spells. The capacity and difficulty to use any Moonblade depends on the power of the magic used to create it.
- 26 mana is required to get one node.
- When capturing spells, the spell should be cast as normal. Spells will come out of Moonblade exactly as they went in:
- Example: if you CAST MOONBLADE, it will be treated as though you intend to cast the spell on the Moonblade.
- A moonblade cannot hold an offense type spell.
