NEW DRAGON PRIEST POWERS REVEALED IN SKIRMISH AT THE SPIRE

During a quiet party at Milene's Rose of Shard, Ilithi citizens and their guests were surprised by the sudden attack of a Dragon Priest assassin.  The assassin infiltrated the city and was hidden in a booth within the bar, before emerging and engaging two party-goers.  It was quickly dispatched, and the party left to search the Black Spire near Raven's Point, a location known for housing the Priests.

Once in Dragon Priest territory, this writer witnessed the party being swarmed by Dragon Priests of all varieties, as well as being subjected to arrows bearing orbs that threw fire, blades, or just exploded.  During the battle, all witnesses reported a shadowy figure lurking in the background and laughing.

A blind Dragon Priest Crone imbued with unusually strong magic was seen enhancing their warriors by casting incantations.  She summoned a writhing, greenish-black vortex through which she transported a snarling pivuh to join the fray.

A Paladin Banner of Truce was lifted twice and broken through by the Priests' magic, forcing the party to barricade themselves in a room.  One of the enemy began giggling, saying that he hated magic, and threw a purple bottle at the party, which felt like it stripped the magic from their very bones.  Though the party seemed to suffer no ill effects, the intent appeared to be to dispel their mana.

The shadowy figure forced his way in, taunting the fighters with threats and claims of a prophecy that they would bring war to the Spire and the Dragon Priests would respond, that the Dragon would awaken.

He also announced that the Dragon Priests would no longer tolerate the killing and hunting of their numbers for sport.

A river of blood appeared and began flowing towards the fighters, somehow feeling ominous and malicious, and they were forced to return to battle rather than succumb to the dark magic within it.

After further heated battle, the shadowy figure was seen laughing, then summoning purple lightning.  A portal appeared within the lightning, through which the figure escaped.  Shortly after the Dragon Priests disengaged and fled, leaving the party free to triage their wounded and return to Ilithi.
