Celestial Beacon (constellation jewelry)

The Celestial Beacon enchantment allows a user to create a beacon point for a Moon Mage to cast a moonbeam on via Focus Moonbeam.

Creation

Components

• A moonbeam
• Imbue
• Enchanter's Burin
• Celestial sigil of the Xibar, Yavash,Katamba, Cat and Magpie
• Activating Spell: Shadows, Dazzle or Unleash

Steps

• STEP 1 -- making the shard

1. Cast Imbue after having focused a moonbeam into the area via Focus Moonbeam

• STEP 2 -- after shard has been created:

1. CHARGE shard <mana>
2. Cast <Shadows/Dazzle> on the shard -- Shadows if it was a Katamba moonbeam, Dazzle if it was a Yavash/Xibar moonbeam

• Note: The shard will be constantly and quickly leaking the mana you put into it. You must keep mana in the shard, while filling it with shadows/dazzle, by CHARGEing it. If it runs out of mana, the shard will poof. You can charge, charge, cast. You can charge, cast, cast. It doesn't matter; experiment, and find a way that works for you. Remember, both charging and casting takes mana; try to balance how much you charge it with, and how much you cast shadows/dazzle at, with the amount of mana you have. Having a shadowling around helps. Other people cannot help you charge it or fill it.

• STEP 3 -- when shard is solid, and you're holding it.

1. Scribe the Cat sigil
2. Scribe, activate, and bind the Magpie sigil
3. Scribe, activate, and bind the <moon> sigil

• STEP 4 -- bonding it to the mage that will be sending the moonbeam.

1. CHARGE shard <mana>
2. FOCUS shard -- if you charged it with enough mana, it should bond to you, if not, repeat step 4.

Use

In order to use a Celestial Beacon:

1. The person with the beacon raises it. This immobilizes them and sends a message to the bonded moon mage:
With your mind's eye, you see <character> bathed in a brilliant light as a connection is formed between you both.

2. The moon mage casts focus moonbeam to the beacon using the syntax "cast <moon> <player>" The beam will drop where the beacon is instead of at the mage's location. You have about a minute to drop the beam before the timer runs out and you will need the target to raise the beacon again.

Notes:
The beacon is consumed in this process.
The moon used to create the beacon does not have an impact on which moon you may use to interact with the beacon.

Notes

• The forming of the shard is a concentration check and will drain concentration while solidifying the shard for use.
• The forming of the shard requires a total of 71 mana cast on it to solidify(e.g. Two 36 mana casts of Dazzle) and total mana charged does not matter.
• The shard, once solidified in step 2, can be used as a component in the Invocation of Energy spell without further enchantment.
• The shard, once solidified in step 2, can be used to in the creation of an Astral Guide if enchanted with different sigils than listed here.
