Artwork

Nilme and Useff at the Starfall Dinner, by Eruwyn- 439 AV (September 16, 2021)

The textured sheet of drawing paper is drawn with: Painted in vivid colors are a pair of Elves linked by their subtlety held hands as they stand before a grand brick fireplace. The woman on the right has a delicately curved oval face with sparkling violet eyes and hair reminiscent of a meteor shower during a moonless night. Touches of silver foil are added to the strands to create a shimmering effect. Her svelte figure is displayed appealingly by a corseted alabaster gown. The man on the left has humor-filled, mismatched eyes, one gold and the other hazel. His hair is painstakingly plaited into countless beaded braids that peek out from under his charmingly tilted bowler hat. Dressed as if to contrast the female, he wears a loose shirt and pants a few shades darker than his skin. Noted at their feet in silvery script are the words, "Starfall Dinner."

Nilme, Performing at a Song Circle, by Eruwyn - 434 AV (May 26, 2020)

The sheet of opaque paper is drawn with: Perched at the edge of a seat is an Elven woman, her toes tucked against the cross bars of her seat. She leans forward, her expression intense, though whatever she is watching is not in the picture. Her eyes are inked with silver and enhanced with touches of foil to give them a shimmer when the light crosses them. Lips, the lower larger to give her a faint pout, are tinged pink and are slightly parted. Hair of silver-streaked black is arranged in a smooth braid that falls down her back, contrasting against the deep emerald of her gown. Her lithe figure, though motionless, seems at the edge of movement, perhaps toward whatever her gaze is set upon. Artful use of shading hints at a certain grace to the curves of her form, while the curl of her fingers draws attention to callouses there. Tucked into the lower corner is an "E" and the date, 434 years, 261 days.

Nilme (to Lasaia via Private Message): "Can you pick me up a bottle of Talan Sathra? I think Throne City might be out of Blosu Lorel.

Heard in Conversation

Hoshii: "I DO have a magic dessert-summoning sword because Nilme is guild mom 4 lyfe and loves me.

Almarius: (about a character played in The Tavern Troupe's performance of "The Spectacular Sunbeam Circus") "Nilme's greatest act playing someone not loveable"

Dytt: "Nilme's kind of the Bard's Guild-mother"

Ahneya: "Nilme does a great job of looking after the Crossings Guild."

Vixonia exclaims, (after Nilme's turn during a Tavern Troupe Roll or Die Dice Game) "The quietest and yet most dramatic scene... well done! Was like watching a mime die!"

Hoshii: "I have full faith in Nilme to not do anything terrible to me unless I truly deserve it. Though I did get a Guild Mom lecture once."

Unen: "The thing about Niilme oh Nilme Iondu'il is that she does it in a way that you don't realize you're being lectured at the time. She's just calmly and hypnotically talking sense into you, which is immediately understood and heeded. It's only after the fact that you're scratching your head and wondering how you just got lectured without even knowing it."

Emyrose: "Nilme is good at drawing people out."

From Discord- OOC- General Comments

Madigan: Today's RP Spotlight is Nilme! Nilme is an amazing bard that has been friends with Madigan a long time. She performs regularly at concerts and is/was a constant at the Bin and in Theren for many, many years. Recently, she was really mad at Madigan and read him the riot act! It was amazing RP and I -really- enjoyed it. She has an amazing depth to her character that I encourage you to draw out of her and she is passionate about many things. Everyone get to know Nilme!

Ahneya: "I should have weapon and shield pieces from this MT if other bards want to gather random pieces into a collection to help outfit new/low-level bards. It is part of my goal to see how many things Nilme can carry."

Emyrose: "Nilme is great, I swear there isn't anyone she isn't nice to."

Hoshii: "I can get it for you tonight if no one does first, Baylix."
Baylix: "Thanks Hoshii! I do believe Nilme mom'd me already"

From Discord- OOC- Regarding her Name

Ode to Nilme, by Tirost Armagna
Sung at Theren Guard Song Event, 440 AV

You see Knight of Meraud Tirost Armagna, Telo'Getha of Zoluren, a Human Warrior Mage.

He has an oval face, silver-flecked crystal blue eyes and a straight nose. His dark brown hair is short and wavy, and is worn loose. He has tanned skin and an athletic build. He is a bit over average height for a Human. He appears to be young. He has a tattoo of a wolf's head shrouded by an aura of flame over twin crossed swords on his chest.

He is wearing a fur-trimmed black mantle fastened with a silversteel brooch, some nightmare black leathers, a black steel mourning band inlaid with ivory lilies, a dark leather sheath inlaid with silversteel and some black leather boots.

Tirost says, "This poem is an ode to a bard who commands the hearts of all poets."

(Tirost closes his eyes and begins to pluck the strings of a golden lyre, producing a wondrous melody.)

(Tirost opens his eyes and a small flame flickers into existence near his forehead, as his fingers dance over the strings of a golden lyre.)

Tirost chants in a baritone voice:

"Where walks the elven poet, The songstress of the woods, There comes the graceful songbirds To warble all they could,"

Tirost chants in a baritone voice:

"And accompany the potent song With the softly rushing stream, And every lusty animal That to its mate might sing!"

(Tirost's voice is rich and clear as a golden lyre fills the area with its melody.)

Tirost chants in a baritone voice:

"They're called by th' poet's music! 'Tis enchanting to the soul! Even when its tales are sad There's beauty in its notes!"

Tirost chants in a baritone voice:

"Such is the gift of Nilme, That when she raises up her voice All of nature sings with her, And Faenella beams with joy!"

(Tirost's fingers continue to glide over the strings of a golden lyre, as the flame undulates near his brow.)

Tirost chants in a baritone voice:

"So too the passing hunter Who wanders 'long the trail By her voice is reminded Of one who from this life has sailed,"

Tirost chants in a baritone voice:

"And when to a humble cottage The hunter bends his steps, Nilme's song goes with him And his emotions find new depths."

Tirost chants in a baritone voice:

"Within a rough and calloused hand His daughter's places he, And tells her that he loves her, And with her he'll always be."

(Tirost fingers move with grace over the strings of a golden lyre.)

Tirost chants in a baritone voice:

"Such is the force of music
That from brilliant Nilme pours
As birds with sacred laurels crown
The bard of Nature's court!

(Tirost ceases his chant, and the flame near his forehead vanishes. His fingers slow and then stop, and the melody fades away.)

Our Nilme, by Allye
Sung at Nilme's Surprise Birthday Party, held by the Tavern Troupe, 439 AV (October 4, 2021)

You see Moon Warrior Allye Karayilma, a Prydaen.

Allye has a set of mischievously twitching whiskers accenting a square face, pointed ears and some night-black kohl flawlessly applied to accentuate her bright cat-slitted turquoise eyes. Her raven mane is very long and glossy, and is worn twisted into an elegant infinity knot caught by an Albarian lace hairnet adorned with twilight purple aubrieta blooms. She has tawny fur, a black-tipped tail and a lithe figure. She is petite for a Prydaen. She appears to be young. Her shoulder has a tattoo of a sea-blue jellyfish with delicate silver-tinged tentacles.
She is wearing a chic mantle of brushed ivory Elven wool, a corseted moonsilk bodice with mistsilk straps, a high-waisted black wool mermaid skirt with cascading ruffles and some high-heeled cream leather boots with deep cuffs.

(Allye plucks a series of quiet notes on her cedar lap harp, nodding to herself when she finds it's tuned to her liking. She places her flat palms over the strings to dampen their vibration.)

Allye says, "This is called, 'Our Nilme.'" She turns to smile joyfully at the Elven woman herself. "To celebrate one of the most marvelous people I've ever met."

Allye says, "I hope you will enjoy it."

(Allye draws her hands up to take their position once more over the lap harp, leaning back to lightly brace the instrument between her shoulder and thigh. With a deep breath, she begins to pluck a gentle melody, lifting her voice simultaneously to sing.)

Allye sings in a soprano voice:

"She's the brightest, most welcoming smile
That invites you to join, to belong for a while.
A beacon of joy and camaraderie:
The most amiable of all is Nilme."

Allye smiles a soft smile, her gaze lowered to the strings of her instrument. A delicate glissando bridges from one iteration of the repeating refrain to the next as the plinking tune continues.

Allye sings in a soprano voice:

"She's the soft, pure voice that fills your ears,
Beguiles you, delights you, and moves you to tears.
With prowess of words and melody:
The most brilliant of all is Nilme."

(Allye fingers move across the strings, each meticulous placement resulting in a sweet plucked note. Her voice grows quiet as she proceeds to the next verse.)

Allye sings in a soprano voice:

"She's the hand that finds yours when you're scared,
Such soul-kindling warmth in times of despair.
With generous spirit and hale empathy:
The kindest of all is Nilme."

Allye smiles with fond affection. The melody slows for a moment, only to almost immediately pick back up and drive forward once more.

Allye sings in a soprano voice:

"She is friendship most dear, brimming with love,
A bright, shining star that gleams from above.
She's all this and more, I know you'll agree:
The most wonderful of all, our Nilme!"

(Allye bows her head as the final notes linger upon the vibrating strings of her instrument. She allows the sound to simply fade, only leaning forward a moment later when all that remains is silence.)

A Song for Nilme, by her Mother, Bardess Achrennight Filanti
Sung at Achrennight's Concert as part of the Arthe Dale Concert Series, 375 AV (March 27, 2004)

You see Achrennight Filanti of Therengia, an Elf.

She has pointed ears and jade eyes. Her black hair is very long and thick, and is worn in a tousled mass of locks that tumbles over her shoulders. She has rosy skin. She is young for an Elf.
She is wearing a tall pewter tankard, an open front-laced white silk shirt, a delicate ivory collar with a dangling pink heart, a shadowy black silk handfasting cord adorned with ebony beads carved to resemble a pair of sleek wolves, a wooden arrow pendant engraved with a howling wolf, a willow backpack, a tiny nightingale charm, an enticing gypsy skirt of gold and crimson gauze over black gossamer, a beaded crimson silk corset with tightly drawn ivory laces, a pale green spidersilk pouch pinned with a golden phoenix charm, a supple black leather flute pouch, a velvet-lined crimson sack embroidered with a fiery phoenix, a soft gold suede garter with a ruby phoenix buckle, a delicate twisted gold hip-chain, a low-slung leather hip belt, a crimson brocade cloak trimmed with plush white ermine, a lacquered scarlet instrument case painted with golden wrens, a flute-shaped ivory hairpin and some sleek red leather thigh boots laced up the back with steelsilk laces.

Achrennight says, "Well, while I figure out which fun song to sing, I might as well sing a song written about my daughter Nilme. I really should get around to titling this song.. but here it is. A song for Nilme"

Achrennight quietly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"She was sitting in the guild, quiet and forlorn.
I sat down, smiled and asked her tale.
A tale of sorrow she did weave, like I've heard before,
But only in the ballads from the days of yore."

Achrennight sadly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"And in her eyes, I saw hope,
That chased away her fears.
Her song, taken from her heart,
And all her tender years."

Achrennight longingly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"For all her years, she'd been through much.
It made my heart ache and yearn,
To give her something to smile for,
Just like in the ballads from days of yore."

Achrennight wistfully sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"And in her eyes, I saw fears,
That brought back memories old.
Her song, I had taken to heart,
And it made me grow bold."

Achrennight tenderly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"I offered her a place in my family,
A place in my heart and soul.
She smiled and is alone no more,
Her song became a ballad of days of yore."

Achrennight lovingly sings in a mezzo-soprano voice:

"And in her eyes, I see love,
That chased away her strife.
In her I feel naught but pride,
That will last me all my life."

Achrennight gazes down at the floor.
Achrennight blushes, the tips of her ears turning a delicate scarlet hue.
Achrennight says, "I just wish I had half her talent in writing songs as she"
