Reorganization

Even though it would require a little more wiki-savvy, I think that we should consider putting this in table format. It would be easier to read and look better, and I don't see why we should sacrifice the quality to avoid such a minor inconvenience in editing. (Tables are not that hard to edit. Just copy the form of what is already there.) I would also sort within the same section (e.g., 100-200) in ascending order of highest skill required. -- Isharon 15:58, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

If someone wants to table the whole thing, I guess I wont object, I just hope to encourage as many as possible to participate and wanted to keep it simple, if you think it will still be simple enough then go for it. Russell 22:48, 1 April 2010 (UTC)

I have completed the reorganization. Here is how the tables are organized:

  • Large bracket (for example, 0-99)
  • Highest requirement (lowest first)
  • Alphabetical (titles that have the same highest requirement)

I also filled in some missing information from Play.net and made a few minor corrections of my own.

If anyone wants to contribute but is intimidated by tables, please post on this page, and I'll add the information where it belongs. --Isharon 20:08, 6 April 2010 (UTC)

Discussions of Requirements

Tactician, Peace Keeper

Tactician and Peace Keeper were listed as requiring 340 ranks in primary armor. However, I didn't get either title until I had 400 ranks, even though I met all of the other requirements.

Soul State

Note that many of the titles with a soulstate requirement require it to be not just "pristine", but at the top end of it. I have seen many cases where my soul is pristine but several titles still do not show until I tend my soul a bit more. Thats why I had initially noted "near perfect" soulstate, rather then pristine. Russell 02:39, 9 April 2010 (UTC)

Authoritarian

Authoritarian is off, but I'm not sure what the reqs are. 538 primary armor, 486 secondary armor, 414 third armor, and 437 primary weapon. It appeared right as I got 300 scholarship, though.

Amonamarth

I have over 300 scholarship but still do not have it, My top armors are HP 673, shield 669, LP 422, Bone 323 and weapon HE 574. My guess based on your skills is that there is a second or third armor req in addition to a scholarship req of 300. Russell 22:48, 1 April 2010 (UTC)
I have Authoritarian and nowhere near the ranks you guys are posting in second armors (220 LP and 160s in chain.. I know, I suck) Perhaps it is teaching (336 ranks). I cannot recall when I got it, but it was not too long ago. 07:29, 2 April 2010 (UTC)~Sebestyen
Hmm, teaching might be it then, I only have 259 Russell 10:37, 2 April 2010 (UTC)

800+

Just made some changes, moved a few titles I know to be 800+ into a new section. Talking to a few prime paladins, High Lord of Justice and Divine Fury come in around 830ish. Grand Dame of Justice easy to assume is same as High Lord of Justice but female only. Hierarch of Justice I have found no paladin who has the title yet, perhaps 900+, especially considering "Hierarch" alone is a very high title.

Lord/Lady Cavalier and Divine Cavalier I have yet to find anyone who has these reguardless of how huge. I am pretty sure its just some silly Animal Lore req which of course no one bothers training. Could even be a somewhat low req. Russell 09:28, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

Obsolete Page

You know much of the page can be done via wikicode right? See the source code for Barbarian Titles. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 14:06, 22 February 2011 (UTC)

Maybe, but I think this layout looks nicer. --Isharon 19:41, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
Due to elanhipedias overuse of templates and such, editing titles and sorting them all out is a nightmare. Its nice to have them all on one page and easily moved and edited, especially when I started this page when we did not know the reqs for about half of them. Russell 20:24, 22 February 2011 (UTC)
How is editing and sorting them an issue? -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 03:44, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
You really dont know? The spirit of wiki is not just allowing access to information, but also making information easy to contribute. Wiki was intended to be simple. Granted to an experienced user of wiki, xml, html or any sort of interpreted language the templates are simple and easy, not much harder then editing a word document. But the spirit of wiki is to be easy for a basic user to edit. Templates are advanced wiki, click on edit and its confusing to a typical user. This is why, if you havnt noticed, I tend to post on talk pages rather then edit. Its not because I cant edit the pages, I spent a career as a C++ programmer and am a very experienced wikipedian. I post on talk pages because I refuse to contribute to the excessive complication of elantipedia, while still wanting to support the idea of it.
Titles are a simple example. You can have a single page for every single one, use an unnessisary template on them. All in the guise of making them sortable and such on special pages. But how many special pages would ever be needed? This page here is an example of how it should be IMO. Even your barbian page example, you have to scroll all the way down and click "more" to see them all, and then it goes all screwy. Not to mention when I started this page, paladin titles and titles in general were a mess, due to them all being their own pages. Some used one template, some used none, some didnt even exist. A smart way IMO to do titles would be to have a page for every category of title, this one would be Paladin Titles, another for Barbarian, for Survival, Magic, etc... consolodate pages into a single one for simplicity, intuitiveness, and ease. One thing a person learns as a professional is cleverness isnt always best, intuitiveness always wins. If elanthipedia dropped its overuse of template sin some situations and instead adopted an idea of making things easier to edit for anyone, it would actually see far more content added. Russell 05:01, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
I disagree (obviously). The point is to have a source page which can be used to populate other pages. That way when there's changes, all the daughter pages can be changed at once. Previous to the addition of the templates, things were just as cluttered, even less information was present, and all of it unstandardized. The ease of use is provided by the forms that allow shortcutting all the need to hand code it.
If you find the forms unwieldy, I'd be happy to take suggestions on how to fix it. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 05:12, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
I made my suggestion already. Ditch templates except where needed. Items I can see the use of them. Titles, absolutely not. Source page to populate other pages makes no sense if there is only one page to populate. How many pages do you need to have to populate Barbarian titles outside Barbiarn Titles? Heh, none. Unless you just want to be clever and create pages no one needs. Russell 05:19, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
I've been thinking about it and I'll concede that for titles, populating other pages is not really needed. Looking at the template, there's a lot it does, but much of that is is neat, but not necessarily needed.
The reasons I prefer this setup are that a) it provides standardization, though it would technically be possible to do this per page, b) an easy way to track incomplete titles, which is difficult to do except as a whole page, and c) it allows setting up of forms for ease of editing, which would be nearly impossible in a one-page setup. I also like the searchability of it, but that's a minor point. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 23:11, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
