The Lanky Grey Lach resides in the hallways leading up to Maelshyve's Descent, an area that is part of the Cleric Infusion quest.

Description

The grey lach is a tall, lanky beast that would look almost human if not for the sickly, dull grey skin stretching over its twisted and knobby bones. There is a definite methodical grace about the creature's movements, sinuously reptilian in nature despite its hideously wretched and awkward appearance. Abyssal eyes, as blank and dark as the starless midnight skies, are sunken deeply within its expressionless face, as if the creature somehow stands before you in body but not soul.

Anatomy Chart

Even on paper, the lach's eyes seem blank and dark, void of any expression the artist may have otherwise sketched. Grey skin thinly covers its knobby bones, making the creature almost skeletal in appearance. Its sickly hue is uniform, the body as devoid of feeling as its eyes. A small notation near the bottom of the page cautions against getting too near the cursed lanky grey lach.

In Depth

Special Attack

Lachs often advance in hiding, and perform an Ambush Stun -- Need about 150 Perception to see them advance.

Appraise Careful

Barely huntable @ 190 defenses/35 Reflex. With PFE, MPP, MAPP, SOL and Bene all running at 60+ mana they connect enough, and hard enough to cause the accumulation of wounds rapidly enough to suggest that 190 is the -bare- minimum. (3.0)

You are certain that the grey lach is very beat up.
The grey lach is cursed, and you are certain that it has an incredible spirit that is healthy.
You are certain that the grey lach is slightly fatigued.
The grey lach has a relatively minor wound.
You are certain that it is definitely weaker than you are. (40 +8-10)
You are certain that it is somewhat less agile than you are. (36 +8-10)
You are certain that it is rather less disciplined than you are. (40)
You are certain that it is somewhat less quick to react than you are. (40 +8-10)
You are certain that it is rather less conditioned than you are. (35)
Taking stock of its offensive abilities, and defending with a small cloud-white shield and a finely-honed Prydaen Predator's spear with a twisted shaft, you are certain that the grey lach is a less skilled opponent. (231 Shield, 232 Defending, 234 Evasion and 243 Parry. Weapon is Soundly (8/17) balanced.)
Taking stock of its defensive abilities, and attacking with a finely-honed Prydaen Predator's spear with a twisted shaft, you are certain that the grey lach is something that you could tear to shreds. (191 Polearms + 305 Melee Mastery)
If you attacked with a finely-honed Prydaen Predator's spear with a twisted shaft, you are certain that the enemy would train rather well. (191 Polearms)
If you threw the spear at the enemy you are certain that it would train exceptionally well, but you probably won't be landing many blows. (141 Heavy Thrown)
If you defended by parrying attacks, you are certain that the enemy would train acceptably. (243 Parry)
If you defended by evading attacks, you are certain that the enemy would train acceptably. (234 Evasion)
If you defended by blocking attacks, you are certain that the enemy would train acceptably. (231 Shield)
If you attempted to beguile the enemy with tactics, you are certain that it would train acceptably. (262 Tactics)
If you targeted and cast a spell at the enemy, you are certain that it would train acceptably. (258 TM)
If you attempted to debilitate the enemy, you are certain that it would train somewhat poorly. (294 Debil)

Inventory/Loot

It carries some combination of the following 3 items.

Unconsciousness/Death

Upon being rendered unconscious from a near-death strike, the lach will drag your body to a prison cell and shut you inside where you will likely bleed to death and die before waking. Upon dying, the prison cell will be open and you can retrieve your items. Departing here will take you to the Altar of the Flesh in the Abyssal Descent.

Area Details

To get to the Lanky Grey Lach area is complicated. One must first SEARCH for a path off the main road, travel through a maze-like cemetery, find a route to the church (by climbing a tree and PEERing at the church), enter the mausoleum in the cemetery, then solve a very tricky coffin puzzle. The western Hierophant's Chamber is a safe room.
