Kanton was the leader of a Human clan. He and Sorril, the Elven daughter of Kiernion, eloped without Kiernion's approval, sparking a five-year war between the Humans and the Elves. Towards the end of the war, Kanton was killed by Rivyn, Morganae's son, the man Sorril was supposed to marry. Kanton had a right hip short sword named Glisinais that Sorril used to slay Rivyn. The twins Lanival and Sable are the children of Kanton and Sorril.
