Enchanting Basics
Useful Terms
- Activating (Activator Spell)
- The process of powering or 'activating' a scribed sigil's latent properties by sending lunar mana into it. Currently there are three spells that function in this regard, they are: Shadows, Dazzle, and Unleash. These 'activator spells' work to varying degrees, with Shadows being the least effectivce, Dazzle being in the middle, and Unleash being the most effective. Unleash also slightly raises the magical quality of the enchantment.
- Binding
- The process of permantently sealing (or 'binding' as we call it) a sigil into an object, by focusing your magical senses on the object until you feel the sigil become one with the object.
- Celestial Sigil
- Pictorial representations of heavenly bodies such as the three moons, the sun, or the thirteen planets.
- Conjunctive Sigil
- Any combination of 2 overlaying sigils or Celestial sigils.
- Enchanter's Burin
- Similar to a mundane burin used in metal etching, The Enchanter's Burin, through the gem in its tip, allows a sigil to be drawn both upon a target object as well as in the space around it.
- Foundation Enchantment
- Enchantments that are made using only one sigil, or 'foundation sigil' as they are called. Also referred to as 'Foundation-based Enchantments'.
- Foundation Sigil
- A sigil that represents a single constellation or other celestial body.
- Grand Square
- Any combination of 4 overlaying sigils or Celestial sigils.
- Scribing
- The process of placing or 'drawing' a sigil on an item.
- Sigil(s)
- Pictorial representations of the constellations, 'drawn' to such precise geometric exactness that they can be used to evoke the raw power of the constellation upon which they are based.
- Trine
- Any combination of 3 overlaying sigils or Celestial sigils.

How to Use
In order to use an Astoshe's Eclipse ring, rub the ring while worn.
Messaging:
You rub a slender bone ring etched with the crest of the Moon Mage Guild.
You feel yourself flash invisible.
Notes
At any point below "fully charged" a Moon Mage can try and recharge the enchantment with lunar mana, thus attempting to restore it to its maximum number of charges. To do this simply hold the ring in your
right hand and CHARGE MY RING. It takes about half of your attunement to attempt this, regardless of whether or not you succeed in charging the ring. You may have to charge the ring many times in order to
return it to 'fully charged', depending on how depleted it is. You should be aware that it takes AT LEAST 350 ranks in Magical Devices to even have a chance at this. It is really recommended 400 ranks unless
you don't mind sitting there trying it over and over, waiting for you attunement to come back each time.

Cambrinth Retune
Items
- A cambrinth item
- Enchanter's Burin
- Celestial sigil of the Phoenix
- Constellation or
- Scroll or
- Sigilbook
Steps
- Memorize the Celestial sigil for the Phoenix.
- With the burin in your right hand, scribe your cambrinth item with the Phoenix sigil.
- Command: scribe my <item>
- Failure message: The sigil flutters along the <item> but fails to do anything.
- Go back to step 1 if you fail to scribe.
- Failure message: The sigil flutters along the <item> but fails to do anything.
- Command: scribe my <item>
Notes
You're done after scribing the item successfully. The item can now be charged with any type of mana before it has to be retuned again to be charged with a different type.
Celestial Beacon
- Requires Items
1. An Enchanter's Burin
2. Sigil of the Constellation The Cat
3. Sigil of the Constellation The Magpie
4. Sigil of any of the Three Moons that the Celestial Beacon is going to be attuned to.
- Requires Spells
1. The Imbue spell
2. The Shadows spell if you are creating a Katamba Celestial Beacon
3. The Dazzle spell if you are creating an Xibar/Yavash Celestial Beacon
4. A spell that can activate sigils
- Instructions:
1. Preparations such as Clear Vision, Piercing Gaze, Aura Sight, Seer's sense are useful but not neccessary specifically to enchant.
2. Focus a moonbeam (probably on the moon you will be tuning your Celestial Beacon to.)
3. Cast Imbue
4. This will create a shard for the basis of the celestial beacon, which you must cast either Shadows or Dazzle on. This depends on which moon the celestial beacon will be attuned to. Once solid proceed to next step.
- One thing to note is that the shard is leaking mana while your supposed to be binding it. If you do not keep it charged it will disappear and you have to start over again. Luckily you won't be using up sigil scrolls for this part of the process.
- One thing to note is that the shard is leaking mana while your supposed to be binding it. If you do not keep it charged it will disappear and you have to start over again. Luckily you won't be using up sigil scrolls for this part of the process.
5. Scribe the Cat
6. Scribe the Magpie, activate sigil and bind it.
7. Scribe any Moon sigil, activate it and bind it.
- Uses:
To attune the shard to a specific mage, the complete shard is charged and focused on. If you don't charge it enough, you won't feel bound to it, so charge more.
To clear the attunement so another mage can be attuned to it, invoke the shard.
To use an attuned shard, the user raises it. The mage it's attuned to will sense it's been raised and can focus a moonbeam on it by CAST <MOON> <PERSON>. Focusing a beam will use up the shard. If the shard is raised but no beam is focused on it, the shard remains and can be raised at a later time.

Constellation Jewelry
Constellation Jewelry, also called CJs, are articles of jewelry that possess enchantments that boost a designated skill. Depending on the skills of the jewelry's creator a skill can be boosted by as much as 100 ranks and each piece of jewelry could have as much as 8 uses. A CJ is activated by rubbing it. Anyone can use Constellation Jewelry, but if the user is not skilled in Magical Devices skill they will use up more than one charge when they rub it. In order to always limit the use to just a single charge per rub the user must have 100 ranks of Magical Devices skill.

Divination Bones
- Items Needed:
1. A Boar's tusk preferable, other options need to be considered.
2. An Enchanter's Burin.
3. Sigil of the Constellation the Ram.
4. Some white and black skaefarees oil. (Bought at Throne City).
5. Sigil of one of the Three Moons.
- Spells Needed:
Any spell that could be used to activate a sigil is possible.
Steps Required:
1. Preparations involving Clear Vision, Piercing Gaze, Aura Sight, Seer's sense should be preferred.
2. Study the Ram constellation or a scroll with the sigil of the Ram on it until you memorize the sigil. If you fail studying the Ram constellation, wait 3 minutes and try again. Scrolls are more forgiving and you may keep trying until you get it.
3. Holding your burin in your right hand and the tusk in your left, scribe the tusk. This will put red lines on the tusk in a pattern for you to use when you carve the tusk.
4. Holding your knife in your right hand and the tusk in your left, carve your tusk. You will get around a 15 second round time and this will start the process of turning the tusk into bones. You will notice that instead of holding a boar tusk in your hand you will now be holding boar bones.
5.From here on out you will have to carve your bones. Do this until your bones are fully carved. The Moon Sphere carvings take over twice as long as the rest of the carvings, so be ready for a few minutes of carving. Once you are done carving the Sun disk you are complete.
6. Now that you have your bones fully carved, it's time to dye the Sun Disk, and paint the markings on the Moon Sphere. Holding either the White or Black skaefarees oil in your right hand, and the bones in your left, dip your bones in the oil. You will do this 4 times. Note: Supposedly it can affect your bones depending on which color you use first. I believe the color you use first is the color the sun disk can attune to, but I haven't fully tested this. You must dip your bones twice in each color, alternating between the colors. (4 dips total)
7. Now, to complete the bones you must scribe and bind a sigil from one of the moons on them. Any moon's sigil will do. Study either Xibar, Yavash, or Katamba until you memorize the sigil. Alternately you may use a scroll if you have one. If more than one moon is up and you fail on your first try, go ahead and try a different moon while you are waiting for the 3 minute timer to expire. If using a scroll you can keep trying until you get it.
8. Holding your burin in your right hand and the bones in your left, scribe your. If the sigil fails to sink in, go back to step 7.
9. Activate the sigil with an activator spell. (Shadows, Dazzle, Unleash) If you fail to activate the sigil before it fades, you must go back to step 7.
10. Bind the sigil to the bones. To do this, simply focus on your bones. You will get a 12 second round time, and a little message telling you that you need to focus on the bones again in order to permanently bind the sigil. Keep focusing on the bones until you bind the sigil. If you fail to bind the sigil before it fades, you must go back to step 7.

How to Use
In order to use a devourer egg, all you have to do is drop the pearl from your hand.
Messaging:
You thumb your black pearl and let it fall.
The pearl cracks open like an egg to disgorge a pool of thin shadows which quickly congeal into an opaque multi-armed devourer.
Notes
You can injure, and eventually kill off a devourer by repeatedly casting Dazzle at it.
If you drop more than one pearl that has been made into a devourer egg, the two devourers will merge into a new, larger devourer. You can do this 12 times before something nasty happens. On the 13th time you drop a devourer egg, your devourer will either explode into nothing, or it will explode and a Shadow Master will form. Good luck fighting the Shadow Master, they have a wide array of powers, including summoning other creatures. They are also immune to normal weapons and most spells. Dazzle is effective on them, doing some small vitality damage. I believe that Burn and Starlight Sphere also work. Shadows and Dinazen Olkar will actually heal them.
