Introduced with Taisidon Mystery 454.

Appear as a <adjective> bogfen golem.

Confirmed variants:

  • clay-caked
  • craggy
  • hulking
  • mossbound
  • muddy
  • silt-stained

Description

The bulky frame of the bogfen golem is sculpted from packed mud and clay, its block-like limbs crudely formed yet solid. Bald and unremarkable save for cloudy stone eyes, its heavy head rests on a thick neckless torso. Fingers and toes end in mica-streaked nails that catch faint glimmers when light strikes, despite heavy grime. Moss clings in patches across its hardened surface, and cracks in its hide reveal darker soil beneath.

Recall

Shaped from clay and sodden earth, bogfen golems linger where swamp and mire are dark and dense. Their hulking forms rise from the muck, given armor by the density of soil, stone, and water packed together. Tales claim they were first molded as guardians, though now they roam aimlessly, their blocky silhouettes partially obscured by vine and moss, as much a part of the Gravevine Mire as the trees themselves.

The bogfen golem are known to cast the Iron Constitution, Tremor, Stone Strike, and Rising Mist spells.

They are known to carry loot in locked boxes.

In Depth

Equipment/Loot

They wear some clay plate armor, but it cannot be interacted with:
Some clay plate armor dissipates into the shadows from whence it came.

Occasionally when killed the golems will drop a lump of clay. Similar to the sacks dropped by egg champion mobs or treasure creatures, anyone who participated in combat against that specific golem will be able to search them and receive a crafting material drop from Taisidon. When this happens, there will be a special message immediately after the golem's death:

As parts of a muddy bogfen golem begin to settle, a lump of insect-speckled clay breaks loose from the body and tumbles to the side!

The clay can appear in different variations, with different adjectives that can be used to interact with them:

  • damp clay
  • moss-covered clay
  • insect-speckled clay
  • pebble-riddled clay
  • silt-streaked clay
  • slimy clay
  • twig-spiked clay

There is roundtime to search the clay, even if you have already looted it.

Special Attacks

The golems have an attack that is similar to Ambush Screen, and will also lodge a projectile in your eye.

The bloodhawk beetle burrowed into a silt-stained bogfen golem's chest suddenly takes flight, diving at your face, its iridescent wings little more than a blur as it expels a large plume of fine silt!
The cloud of dirt sailing towards your face takes you completely by surprise.
Dust flies into your eyes and clumps up, seriously hindering your vision!
The scarlet insect, with its needle-like carapace, maintains its alarming momentum and spears your left eye, lodging shallowly with a glancing strike.

On a hit, will result in a lodged projectile:

You have a needle-nosed bloodhawk beetle lodged shallowly into your right eye.

This will cause occasional bursts of roundtime, even with the beetle tended:

The clumps of dirt stinging your eyes cause your vision to go spotty and black!
Roundtime: 4 sec.

In addition they have another special attack which is reported to cause a debuff of some sort:

With surprising agility for such an unwieldy form, a mossbound bogfen golem suddenly makes a shoving gesture with one hand as a tough black gravevine unfurls from around its forearm to lash forward in a blur of dark leaves.
The vine winds its death-hued foliage around your torso with a powerful, python-like embrace that steals your breath and causes a wave of weakness to wash over you.

Special Defenses

Immune to fire, puncture, and electricity damage.

Even without Iron Constitution active the golems appear to have damage caps in place similar to champion monsters.

Will heal wounds over time.

Messaging

  • Spawn: Mist roils for a moment as a hulking bogfen golem materializes from the haze, silent and solid.
  • Entrance: A ripple of muck sloshes underfoot as a silt-stained bogfen golem steps into the area, its movements unhurried and weighty.
  • Exit:
  • Death1: With a slurping sound, a clay-caked bogfen golem stiffens, then crumbles into a body-shaped pile of silt and twigs as the force animating it leaks away.
  • Death2: With a slurping sound, a muddy bogfen golem stiffens, then crumbles into an irregular heap of dirt and leaves as its source of animation is abruptly severed.
  • Decay: The remnants of the golem shift subtly, a wisp of black mist rising from the soggy detritus as it disintegrates back into the ground.
  • Searching:
