== template help ==

I posted a page for one of my plat characters. Kydosha.

I keep getting that the template i used is a "template loop". Please let me know how to fix this. I copy-pasted the template for PCs. Not sure what is making it loop?

thanks

-me-
:You didn't need to make a new Template, just copy and paste the To Use fields from [[Template:Player character]] onto the character's page and add in the appropriate info. You were receiving the Template Loop error because the template you were building was trying to use itself, thus a loop was formed. If you look at the Player Character template, the section that would normally call the template (E.G. <nowiki>{{Player character}}</nowiki>) is surrounded by the NoInclude tags which tells the wiki to ignore that section when the template is called.

:Also, to sign your posts, include 4 tildes(~) at the end. -[[User:Glimmereyes|Glimmereyes]] 13:57, 28 November 2011 (UTC)

::Hi. Thanks, i think i figured it out, only problem now, i seem to have duplicate templates. For shvartzgonif, and for totendanz. Problem is, i wanted seperate templates for totendanz, as they have seperate backstories in 2 different instances : plat & prime. <the plat girl i called Totendanz2>. But i inadvertantly ended up listed characters named Templates! argggh!

:::Take a closer look at [[Totendanz]], [[Totendanz (Plat)]], [[Shoshannah]] and/or [[Shayddow]] for proper use of the Player Template since I have corrected them. The first line of a template {E.G. <nowiki>{{Player character</nowiki>) should not be altered. I left [[Shvartzgonif]] alone so you can try and fix it yourself.

== Links by race ==

I got most of the things highlighted to link.

I noticed one thing though, where player characters are listed and catergorized by race, it doesn't include plat characters, although it does include plat characters under player characters, guild. Any way for this to be added?

Thanks!

== completing a previous incomplete article ==

If you complete the previously unposted information on an "incomplete" article, how do you then change its category to "completed"?

thanks
: There are two ways. If it's an item, it's usually handled by a template and will remove it automatically. Otherwise, you may need to remove the marker, something like <nowiki>{{incomplete|blah blah}}</nowiki>. == magic updating reqs: titles ==

updated one of the titles <hedge witch> for the category "magic" - however, the "magic titles" page apparently doesn't pull from the composite titles, so it still lists the pre-3.0 reqs. When I tried looking up the page, it had something I hadn't seen before, so i wasn't going to mess with that part of it.

As I research individual titles, i'll continue to check them for 3.0, but the general category needs to be fixed.

:While it will be good to update how titles are pulled, I don't believe the requirements themselves have been GM reviewed and possibly/probably updated for 3.0. It seems silly to try to update these pages when the new requirements aren't even released yet. --[[User:TEVESHSZAT|TEVESHSZAT]] 14:49, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

== Disambig? ==

I obliviously messed up trying to make a disambig page. Holey Warez works, but Holey Warez (1) redirects to it, Holey Warez (2) is okay. Sorry! How do I do this right in the future? --[[User:Saslisena|Saslisena]] 18:59, 2 November 2013 (UTC)

== Flower Power (2) - (5) Updated Versions of Old Items on Wrong (?) Pages ==

I think the items from [[Flower Power (4)|here]] (and [[Flower Power (3)|here]] and [[Flower Power (2)|here]]) that point to pages ending with (1) should instead be pointing to (2).

Essentially these items are updated versions of earlier items (see [[Flower Power (1)|here]]). I think the first versions should have been moved to (1), the new versions created at (2) and a disambiguation page created for the base page. I don't think I can correct this myself, without putting the first items at (2) and making them seem like they're more recent versions when they're not.

Example:

First version:
[[Armor:White_linen_hood|White linen hood]]

Newer version:
[[Armor:White_linen_hood_(1)|White linen hood (1)]]

I can just move the original ones to (2) I guess, but wanted to check first. Is there a better solution?

Thanks,

: I want to make sure I understand you. You're asking if the [[Armor:White_linen_hood_(1)|White linen hood (1)]] (newer version) should be a "(2)" and the older versions, [[Armor:White_linen_hood|White linen hood]], be the "(1)", correct?
: If I have that right, couldn't we first MOVE all the (newer version) "(1)" to be "(2)", so <nowiki>[[Armor:White_linen_hood_(2)|White linen hood (2)]]</nowiki>, and then MOVE all the (older version) ones to be "(1)" with an overwrite of the REDIRECT that was just created for the new version? And then finally make up the <nowiki>{{disambig}}</nowiki> page to overwrite the REDIRECT page that was created from the older version page moves? [[Kythryn]] 21:27, 22 November 2020 (CST)

New Page setup

Wanted to start a new page for Duel Wield under the skill/weapon skill category. I'm confounded and confused. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, has duel wielding been released or are you referring to Offhand_Weapon_skill?--Naeya (talk) 18:58, 25 July 2007 (CDT)

Tagging map errors

What's the standard operating procedure for tagging map errors?

Rename a page

How do you rename a page?

Make sure you sign your posts on pages like this with 4 tildes (~~~~). To rename a page simply Move it to the new name. IE Visit the page, click the Move tab at the top, and input the new name in the new title field. --Naeya (talk) 14:14, 29 December 2008 (UTC)

Change store coin type

Spell infobox reqs

Almost all the Ranger Spells now have this big yellow missing info crap showing up on them. I swear a few months ago I fixed all this shit. Anyway, how do I figure out what info is missing? When I try to edit the pages I don't see any empty lines to add info. Thanks

--13:21, 24 February 2009 (UTC)Hanryu

A few of the templates seem broken in that they sometimes list as incomplete even if they are complete, such as Template:NPC and one of the shop ones. (Not sure which shop one, though; when I was editing Willowy green-robed priestess I copied Old battle priest verbatim. WGRP shows as incomplete while OBP doesn't.) --Thilan 15:26, 24 February 2009 (UTC)

Migration to templates

Is there something server side that has to be done when an existing article is migrated to a template? I've tried to migrate Swan Dance, but the Edit with form option is not showing up.
