Background

Naea is an Augstawne Rakash and an unrepentant Bard. Raised in the East by various hands after the death of her parents during the Migration eastward, Naea is outgoing and personable but can often appear silly or childish to outsiders because of a tendency to reduce most situations to frivolity, however bleak they seem. In addition, her inability to master Common often leads to missunderstandings, though she is a staunchly loyal personality.

Trained as a Bard in River Crossing, Naea was a reluctant and wilful student often provoking the wrath of her instructors with a constant stream of pranks and practical jokes. Displaying a remarkable lack of talent as a vocalist, her primary area of study, Naea was regarded by her tutors as a talented if un-driven poet and written off as a serious performer of high art. Her true creative love however was the story, a medium regarded by most of her instructors as unworthy of a true Bard's attention.

Dismayed at the stubbornness of the academy Naea ended her studies once she achieved the rank of Bard, abandoning the Crossing for Therengia, travelling north with Chinoa to warn of the imminent weakening of the barrier. After the war with Lyras, Naea settled in Siksraja to begin training as a Stastitaj, traditional Rakash storytellers responsible for guarding the oral history of their people. Any trace of her frivolous side evaporates when she performs, and this transformation often catches even her oldest friends off guard.

She is wearing a white cloth hair wrap dangling with deep black crow feathers, a mammoth bone chain bearing the crest of the Augstawne Girene Dzirta, a faenrae pelt longcoat tooled with a pattern of swirling crow feathers, a light repeating crossbow with a silver-trimmed oak stock, a black nightsilk odaj with a firesilk phoenix displayed in full glory, some Katamba-black hunting leathers, a braided platinum engagement ring set with a black diamond moon, a scarlet silk sash hung with tiny silver bells, a soft snowbeast pelt thigh quiver clasped with a curved ivory tooth, a matte-black Rakash survival knife, and a pair of nightsilk nauda laced with braided firesilk cords.

Notable Events in Naea's Life

• Won a custom crafted violin at Yiara's performance contest in Zoluren, her most cherished posession.

Look: The exquisite instrument is masterfully crafted, its centerpiece adornment carved from polished flamewood. Clutching a lute in its talons, the mythical bird rises upwards from a sea of flames. Engraved into the wood at the base of the neck in elegant script is the letter "N."

Look: Carved from polished flamewood, the wild tendrils swirl along the length, eventually culminating in a halo of fire around an engraved "N."

• Attended the farewell Moot at Bambina's house in the Crossing and subsequently traveled North to Therengia with Chinoa to spread word of Lyras's coming to Baron Gyfford, King Raenilar and others. Has since settled in Therenborough with Chinoa and her hedgehog, Ena.
• Was part of the initial exploration of Siksraja, the newly discovered Rakash village.
