| Scents of scorched stone and acrid smoke wafts through the upper caverns of Hibarnhvidar, along with floating ash. With the first smells, a miner comes tromping into the central area, grumbling about yet another new tunnel having to be abandoned to some crazy fire creatures.
"Never fails," he grouses, "I just get started on a promising new stope when some incredibly wild creature comes along and drives me away. I wish those adventuring folks would come down and clear those smoking ponies out of my way so I could get on with my work!" He stomps over to a wanted board and tacks up a note asking for help in ridding the new mine passage of the invasive fire creatures. A sketchy map shows that the passage is located not far from the Empath, Warrior Mage, Paladin, and Bard guildhalls in the upper caverns of Hibarnhvidar.
So there are new creatures in Hibbles - they are not for the faint of heart either. There's an interesting backstory to these creatures. I originally wrote them for Kanton's Dagger. And they ... kinda... got used? I'm not sure exactly how it happened, but instead of the actual creatures I wrote being used, the name was slapped onto a reskin of eidolon steeds for the quest. So ... you guys have in theory seen these creatures before but only if you consider the name as seeing them. What we're releasing today is nothing like what was out in Kanton's Dagger quest. I've gone over the old script and reworked it and added in a bunch of messaging and additions to hopefully make them fun for you guys. These bad girls are ... full of surprises and if you're not ready for them, they can really pack a wallop. They are released at level 150, with a range of 3 over or 3 under that level - so from 147 to 153. They are NOT constructs, but they do cast spells, and they have some special attacks. They drop treasure. They are in a new area outside Hibbles - there is a large cavern that's for everyone and then a smaller grotto that's premie only. I hope you guys enjoy them! I had a great deal of fun revisiting these bad girls and getting them spiffed up for you guys. Thanks to Zadraes for the help (okay, okay, doing the coding) on the special attacks and for the QCs!
