Spell Template Request
Weapon Template Error
I would love to see a category for contested spells, with two boxes to indicate the type of contest (attacker vs. defender). I would also like a category for skill type (Augmentation, Debilitation, Targeted Magic, Utility, or Warding). Thanks! --Isharon 07:39, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
: Done. Some of the stuff was being broken by a stupid typo on my part. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 09:36, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
::Thanks! I am planning to go over all of the Paladin, Empath, and Analogous Patterns spells to make sure they're all filled out completely. --Isharon 20:44, 25 January 2013 (UTC)

Spell templates
It seems that theres something odd about the Bard spell templates where it is adding extra info parts that no longer apply like enchant type, pulse timers, etc. You can look at Hodernia's Lilt and see what I mean. Is there any way that this can get removed since Bard magic is now identical to other casters? --DkAngel23 21:10, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
: Yeah, I'll do it when I have a moment of spare time. There are some other time-sensitive stuff that needs doing first. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 22:14, 22 January 2013 (UTC)

Update to 3.0
Any timeframe for going through and combining the 3.0 information into the mainstream stuff? Are you wanting to wait till Sat morning when they take the game down? --DkAngel23 07:22, 18 January 2013 (UTC)
: Yep. We'll start moving stuff over once the game goes down. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 07:48, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

What are your thoughts about the approach to do that, in terms of renaming articles etc? --Farman 19:55, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

I think it might be worth making a discussion in the town green to discuss policies on how Epedia will handle article management for the transition --Farman 20:16, 18 January 2013 (UTC)

I think having a conduit to direct people to things to update would be great. I tried putting up a nomination for the Category:Articles_for_DR3_Updates page as an Improvement Drive, but can't quite figure out what I need to do to get the heading to show with a link to the category page. Its a quick, easy way to direct people to an auto-populated page that lists articles needing updates after 3.0 hit. Any thoughts on it? --Leito 06:47, 1 February 2013 (UTC)

Spell Categories
It looks like there may be an issue with the Area of Effect and Spell Scroll categories that were created. They dont seem to be linking any of the area or scroll 3.0 spells. Figured Id toss a heads up. -- DkAngel23 12/9/12 09:41AM
: Changed how the templates handle it. Let me know how that works. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 20:47, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
:: Still seems to be an issue with the Area of Effect section on the spell categories. I set TKS and MS as area of effect with the updated spell form to check it and they still dont show. New Multistrike and Scroll categories work great now. --DkAngel23 20:48, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
:: Also on a side note Buffing section isnt taking into account the Augmentation type spells, Defensive section isnt taking into account the Warding type spells, and we should probably have a Debuff category for Debilitation types. --DkAngel23 20:52, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
:::Yeah, I removed all the old tags like buffing, etc. no longer function. They've been taken over pretty much by the skill options. If you feel like others need to be added, go ahead and suggest them. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 03:01, 10 December 2012 (UTC)
::::Well if we want to update them the Buff Category could be either renamed Augmentation or stay Buff and just link the Augmentation spells over. Defensive category is the same just in regards to Warding. As I mentioned above a Debilitation or Debuff category should be added. On the Healing category thats fine but might add in a way to tag the healing type spells in the spell forms somehow. I can go back through them in that case and update the new Empath 3.0 spells for it. And I saw you made a Battle spells category which could be added to the Spell Types page. --DkAngel23 20:22, 9 December 2012 (UTC)
:::::Go ahead, you don't need me for those. I'll let you know if I disagree with anything you do. Have at it. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 05:24, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Spell 3.0 templates?
Are there such things? I noticed that some folks are using a template that appears different from the one used in many of the current spell pages? Can you clarify this for me? I was going to add all the Ranger spells... --Luckysevens 01:37, 1 December 2012 (UTC)
: The current spell template has been updated to work with 3.0 spells. So knock yourself out. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 02:23, 1 December 2012 (UTC)

If you go to the main page under the Contributing section there is a link to forms. The spell link in there is the new 3.0 form. --DkAngel23 8:23 30 November 2012

The damage template is missing "demolishing." Example: w<br>

Template Request: Material Properties
Brawling weapons and Forms
Etherian has been working on an Alteration Buddy, and we were thinking it would be extremely helpful for those designing alterations to be able to query for certain "fluff" properties of materials. This would best be accomplished by making a "Material Properties: template with the following fields:
Can you update the forms for Brawling weapons to handle the size measurements when you get a moment? -Glimmereyes 13:45, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
:There also seems to be a bug causing Slice is grabbing the Increase check from Puncture. Weapon:Firecat claw elbow blades.-Glimmereyes 13:50, 6 August 2012 (UTC)
:: Fixed and fixed. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk)

Using - for any field would set the value to none.
Title Forms
*Material Name: same as page name unless otherwise specified
How do you format requirements in the forms:
Must know at least X spells from the YY book.
At least X ranks in 1st highest (ranged|melee|blunt) weapon.
Must be at least X circle

*Category: drop-down menu with the following options:
Could this information be added somewhere for future reference? I'm trying to update the guild title pages with a buttload of data, but am having trouble with formatting.
::bone/horn‎, fabric‎, flower/plant, gem, leather‎, metal, shell, stone‎, wood, or other

*Type of: if the material is considered a sub-type, variation, or alloy of another material, such as moonsilver (silver), steelsilk (silk), glacier emerald (emerald), etc.
Thanks
::This should be treated as N/A if blank.

: Template:TitleReq -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 07:03, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Note: I know there are existing category tags for the above two options. think it would ultimately be better to move the page categorization from the manual category tags to the template. I am happy to do this work once the template is set up.
booze question
*Description: I would move the official description of the material from free text to the template
A chunk of the bootlegger crate boozes have item sections as their drink name, but not bottle/jar/jug/etc included. Is that the style we're going with? I thought the one I fixed was just a mistake but it looks like a few are set that way. --TEVESHSZAT 02:34, 31 August 2012 (UTC)

*Required for Alterations: drop-down (yes or no)
::This should be flagged as unknown if blank.

*Color: if the material has an inherent or default color, drop-down menu with the following options:
Festival combine question
::red/pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, neutral (white/black/grey), multicolored, or none (if the material has no inherent color)

*Gives light: drop-down menu (yes or no). When altering an item, the item cannot give off light unless it is made of a material that gives off light, such as moonsilver. I have found myself searching for materials with this property to match a design.
Hey Caraamon, I noticed there is a page for Jeolandu Festival 389 and a page for Chris's Mass Festival 389. These are in fact the same festival. I can verify from two sources, plus I was there. :) Which one is better to combine them all (the shops) under, Jeolandu or chris's mass?
::Because light is a rare property, this value should be presumed no if blank.

*Race association: drop-down menu with the following options:
Or do you have a better thought of how to get all the merchants on both maybe? but I didn't see the sense in duplicating it all on both. The Chris's Mass page is way more filled out, map link, etc, so it would be my pick. Let me know please. Thanks! Linett 9/7/12 around 7:20am
::none, Dwarf, Elf, Elothean, Gnome, Gor'Tog, Halfling, Human, Kaldar/Gorbesh, Prydaen, Rakash, or S'Kra Mur
: Do whatever you think works best. I trust ya. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 15:25, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
:::Because race associations are rare, this value should be presumed none if blank.

Fest and Quest
::none, Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Empath, Moon Mage, Necromancer, Paladin, Ranger, Thief, Trader, or Warrior Mage
:::Because guild associations are rare, this value should be presumed none if blank.

*God association: drop-down menu with the following options:

::Necroing this thread a bit, but is there a place (or do you even think there should be?) for this kind of information on the crafting metals page? Sort of a current market snapshot? --Naeya (talk) 22:03, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
::: It would depend on whether or not someone wants to constantly maintain it. So I thought I was making up the BONE item pages the same as how you'd made up the METAL item pages, but now I see you're starting to do re-directs on them to other page names. First off, sorry! Guess I should have just done one and gotten you to look it over first. So, with that in mind, do you want to go ahead and do the first leather item up (right now, looks like Antelope skin), so I have a template to do the other leather items that way too so that you won't have to go back and fiddle them later? Not trying to make more work for you...:) --Kythryn 14:51, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
Guild ability templates
: Actually, I'm still testing it, trying to find the way that makes the most sense. Metals and stones are fairly simple, as they always are obvious what they are. Skin and bones isn't always quite so straightforward. I list them in stack form for a couple reasons:
Noticing that there isn't really a standard guild ability page format, specifically for beseeches:
::# So people can easily match what's in their pack to crafting stats.
::# Because some skin/bones we can't actually attribute to a specific creature yet or come from multiple creatures.
::# Because some skin/bones is very oddly named.
::# Because some similarly named items might end up being very different (Snow Goblin bones might end up different than Elven Pixie Forest and Plains Goblin bones) and so having a Goblin Bone page could cause issues.
: That being said, this is a wiki and not my personal little fiefdom, so if you think you have a better way to do it, PLEASE give it a shot. I watch all the changes on the site (or at least try), so even if I disagree and change it, some part of your idea may end up being far better. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 19:01, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
::You may not claim the title, but we all know: You're king of the Elanthipedia Kingdom...:).
:::So, on the stack vs. no-stack thing, I see where you're coming from. But, on the flip side of that, if you're looking to match what is in a pack, why not lumium shard or silk cloth or onyx rock? I mean, the only thing you can (currently) pick up from it's name is a prepared healing herb (ie. crushed belradi moss becomes crushed belradi), everything else you see as a "cloth" or an "ingot" or whatever. (not trying to be difficult here, but seems like the other materials already have their "qualifier" stripped off, so why not with Bone & Leather too).
:::And, we do already have Goblin Bone and Pale Goblin Bone (thanks to Antendren checking a snow goblin question I had) so I do suspect that if the GM's release something from 2 similar creatures, they will give it a separate name. Hopefully. Probably. Maybe.
:::At the end of the day, I don't really care how we proceed with this, I'm happy to help populate everything. --Kythryn 00:55, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
::::And because I'm just itching to do something with this tonight it seems, I have been playing around with Caracal-pelt Leather, including the base pelt and made a test table under the COMMON LEATHER section on the Crafting Materials page. Let me know what you think, make changes, etc. Thanks! --Kythryn 03:32, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
::::: Perfect! -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi<sup>(talk)</sup> 06:07, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
::ugh, sorry I didn't get all those leather crafting supplies finished up yet but I did guilt Anuind into getting me samples of all the remaining common leather skins and have them tanned. So, I am (hoping!) to finish that up this coming weekend. That being said, I'd posted on the forums, and will add this to the "crafting feedback" page too, but since there are currently 2 common skins that turn into "some azure-scale leather", each with different stats, should I go ahead and make "some azure-scale leather (1)" and "some azure-scale leather (2)", and a master "disambig" page like this link for both?

::::Ugh, looks like some red-links are still on the crafting materials page from the server transfer. Also, there are some naming things going on when you look at the Crafting Materials#Rare Leather, sometimes it is an item other times it is just a page. I don't think I'll be re-visiting this in the near future, however if you want to let me know the page naming standard you want for things, if it hasn't been done by the time I motivate, I'll be happy to go through and standardize and follow-up on the red-links. --Kythryn 15:33, 25 January 2015 (CST)

Hib Barbarian shop
http://elanthipedia.org/w/index.php/Beseech_the_Sun_to_Dry

Heya! I'm updating some of the Hib stuff, and in the Barbarian guild, there is a door that looks like is Barb-only and it looks to be a shop.
Which format do you prefer? I personally don't like the latter as it looks just like a spell, which may be confusing. Is there an updated template that we should use?
:>look door
:Polished into the brushed bronze of the door are letters that spell out, "Kvaren's".
:It is open.
:>go doo
:A large hand reaches out from behind the curtain and blocks your entrance. A burly guard mutters to you, "Just where, do you think yer goin? This shop is fer members of the Guild only."
I don't know how often you get out of Crossing, but if you're ever out this way, or you know a Barb in the area, might have them pop over and document the stuff? From the street, go boulder, go door, go grey arch, east, SE, east. That puts you in the room to GO DOOR to the shop. --Kythryn 16:06, 31 January 2015 (CST)

Don't know if this has been answered yet but as I'm in Hibarnhvidor I decided to check this out. Here is the room inside the door and contents of shop. --Rhadyn 22 January 2016
Also, is this your preferred avenue for questions regarding epedia? Thanks --Luckysevens 20:32, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

There is little space to move about in this cramped shop. The bronze door opens inward, guiding customers straight to a display counter, while not making maneuvering any easier. To the left of the the counter, a number of axes have been placed on display on a rack. Adding to the clutter of the establishment, a small shelf hangs above a stout table, each showing off their own wares.
Obvious exits: none.

On the display counter you see a small iron axe bearded with bright steel, an oak-hafted hurling axe with a wide steel blade inlaid with gold tracings, a slender steel throwing axe with a white leather-wrapped haft, a heavy bronze hurling axe with a river boa-shaped haft, a short-hafted hand axe with a dragon-engraved blade, a small axe with faint engravings along its length and a light bronze throwing axe with a grass eel-shaped haft.

On the axe rack you see a dark ironwood-hafted axe with a cruelly serrated head, a hand axe with an iron-banded handle, a smoke grey lochaber axe with a mottled steel head, a flint-bladed axe with a lengthened handle, an elm-handled battle axe topped by a grinning steel wolfshead, a black iron axe with a maple handle wrapped in thin leather cording, a twohanded war axe with a skull-shaped pommel, a crescent-bladed war axe engraved with a flame pattern, a goldenoak-hafted battle axe with a shining silvered blade and a sleek lochaber axe with a razored edge.
Just removed my stuff. Jefftyjeff, 01/16/13

On the small shelf you see a dented flask, a leather flask, a hammered brass flask, an engraved flask and a wooden flask.
Request for admin reinstatement
On the stout table you see a bronze paintstick, a cobalt blue paintstick, a leaf-green paintstick, a note, a blood-red paintstick, a purple paintstick, a gold paintstick, a maroon paintstick and a black paintstick.
Hey Caraamon, I intend to remain active here on the wiki and have a few ideas for small additions to the front page etc., so if it please the powers that be, I would be honored to resume admin status. --Farman 19:04, 19 January 2013 (UTC)

Since there is no longer a heavy cost and upkeep for manipulation (this was changed years ago) can we modify this template section on the Critter Temp? Leave the can it be manipulated (yes/no/unknown) and instead of Cost and Upkeep it should have: Empathy required to manipulate 1 creature, required for 2 creatures, Empathy teaching cap. I think the old tiers listed there were for the cost per number of creatures, but it's now capped at 2 creatures. Hey Caraamon! Having a Table of Contents and a Player Template Card on the same page was bugging me, so I wanted to take a shot at combining the two. See it in action on Uzmam's page. Absolon also helped out by making it a y/n toggle. I also took the left hand padding from the TOC, changed it into a margin, and adding it to the player template as a whole, giving some space between the main body copy and the player template card.
Reverted an edit on the Necro page showing who runs each necro guilds, since I assume that all people except Book are an IG secret right now, let alone that some haven't really become fully introduced/revealed yet. --TEVESHSZAT 16:09, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

Just give me the word on when you *can* put up the names. I'm thinking a short blurb the same as is done with the Thief guildleaders, along the same guidelines thus preserving the secrecy. Can give short descriptions of Looks, when you give permission to do so. Additionally, saying which provinces guilds is associated with Philosophers, Perverse, etc was in a GM post on Simutronics boards so thus would *not* be considered a secret except In-game, so that could be reposted here Kydosha 07:10, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
: I don't have an issue with the allegiances being listed, but no names for now. I'll see if I can track down a GM and find out whether or not they care about these guys. If you think the descriptions are useful without including the names, go for it, but make sure they don't give anything away. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 11:43, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
:: Spoke to a GM about this. Basically, once the GLs are general knowledge (one is, one isn't explicitly known to be a GL, the other ones are basically unknown), the GLs can be listed. For now, the only one that can be really listed is the P1 one. --TEVESHSZAT 21:14, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

How does the table generate values for things like min/max rank caps? If I edit an individual critters page to update the min/max caps, will it reflect in the table, or do I have to edit the table itself? I can't seem to figure out how to do the latter. If it doesn't auto-update, is there an easy way to make that happen?--Luckysevens 18:30, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
Ok I came across a weird issue in regards to titles. Take the title "Shadowmancer" for example. If you go to the Title:Shadowmancer title page everything is right. If you click on the discussion tab in Title:Shadowmancer or directly go to Shadowmancer which redirects to Title:Shadowmancer you see some old cached version of the page (which you can't edit, when you try to you edit the current version, not this cached version). Now oddly if while on that bad cached page, you click the "(Redirected from Shadowmancer)" link, it takes you back to Shadowmancer, and then when you manually click the redirect link, it takes you to the correct Title:Shadowmancer. Not sure really what is going on here. Sorry if that is a bit confusing but hopefully it's detailed enough.

Also as an aside question, for updating titles, the article obsolete stub says "Some of these requirements have not been updated to 3.0. These requirements are italicized." I add the new=yes field to a title when I know all the reqs are updated and it gets rid of the "This article is obsolete" stub, but I'm not sure how to make updated reqs be non italicized (though I guess once the stub is removed it doesn't really matter if they are italicized or not?). -SYDNEE (talk) 14:20, 13 February 2016 (CST)

I created a page for my character Enalen a couple days ago. It's been added to the proper categories via the PC template, and they are linked at the end of the page so that seems to be working fine. But when you go to any of those categories, her page isn't actually filed under them. Also I added an image to the database and put it on the page. It displays properly on the character page but when you look at the image's info page, it claims nothing links to it.
:::::The page was locked because you clearly don't want to wait until Caraamon and I can talk about this later tonight. If you start mass overwriting people's information, with things you get from a script that is patently wrong, I'll personally write a script that runs every twenty minutes and restores the older information from multiple IP addresses. Weapon Template Error

The damage template is missing "demolishing." Example: massive kertig maul with gnarled smokewood haft

Damage scale: Appraisal_skill#Weapons

Template Request: Material Properties

Etherian has been working on an Alteration Buddy, and we were thinking it would be extremely helpful for those designing alterations to be able to query for certain "fluff" properties of materials. This would best be accomplished by making a "Material Properties: template with the following fields:

Using - for any field would set the value to none.

 • Material Name: same as page name unless otherwise specified
 • Category: drop-down menu with the following options:
bone/horn‎, fabric‎, flower/plant, gem, leather‎, metal, shell, stone‎, wood, or other
 • Type of: if the material is considered a sub-type, variation, or alloy of another material, such as moonsilver (silver), steelsilk (silk), glacier emerald (emerald), etc.
This should be treated as N/A if blank.

Note: I know there are existing category tags for the above two options. think it would ultimately be better to move the page categorization from the manual category tags to the template. I am happy to do this work once the template is set up.

 • Description: I would move the official description of the material from free text to the template
 • Required for Alterations: drop-down (yes or no)
This should be flagged as unknown if blank.
 • Color: if the material has an inherent or default color, drop-down menu with the following options:
red/pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, neutral (white/black/grey), multicolored, or none (if the material has no inherent color)
 • Gives light: drop-down menu (yes or no). When altering an item, the item cannot give off light unless it is made of a material that gives off light, such as moonsilver. I have found myself searching for materials with this property to match a design.
Because light is a rare property, this value should be presumed no if blank.
 • Race association: drop-down menu with the following options:
none, Dwarf, Elf, Elothean, Gnome, Gor'Tog, Halfling, Human, Kaldar/Gorbesh, Prydaen, Rakash, or S'Kra Mur
Because race associations are rare, this value should be presumed none if blank.
 • Guild association: drop-down menu with the following options:
none, Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Empath, Moon Mage, Necromancer, Paladin, Ranger, Thief, Trader, or Warrior Mage
Because guild associations are rare, this value should be presumed none if blank.
 • God association: drop-down menu with the following options:
none, Chadatru, Rutilor, Botolf, Damaris, Phelim, Dergati, Eluned, Lemicus, Drogor, Everild, Kuniyo, Trothfang, Faenella, Murrula, Idon, Glythtide, Saemaus, Be'ort, Hav'roth, Peri'el, Ushnish, Hodierna, Berengaria, Asketi, Kertigen, Divyaush, Zachriedek, Meraud, Firulf, Kerenhappuch, Tamsine, Albreda, Harawep, Truffenyi, Alamhif, Huldah, Urrem'tier, Eylhaar, Aldauth, Rakash god(s), Prydaen god(s), Alaudian/Gorbesh god(s), Gnomish god(s), or other
Because god associations are rare, this value should be presumed none if blank.

I would adapt the Manual of Style standards for items for use with materials.

Crafting material pages

So I thought I was making up the BONE item pages the same as how you'd made up the METAL item pages, but now I see you're starting to do re-directs on them to other page names. First off, sorry! Guess I should have just done one and gotten you to look it over first. So, with that in mind, do you want to go ahead and do the first leather item up (right now, looks like Antelope skin), so I have a template to do the other leather items that way too so that you won't have to go back and fiddle them later? Not trying to make more work for you...:) --Kythryn 14:51, 15 November 2013 (UTC)

Actually, I'm still testing it, trying to find the way that makes the most sense. Metals and stones are fairly simple, as they always are obvious what they are. Skin and bones isn't always quite so straightforward. I list them in stack form for a couple reasons:
 1. So people can easily match what's in their pack to crafting stats.
 2. Because some skin/bones we can't actually attribute to a specific creature yet or come from multiple creatures.
 3. Because some skin/bones is very oddly named.
 4. Because some similarly named items might end up being very different (Snow Goblin bones might end up different than Elven Pixie Forest and Plains Goblin bones) and so having a Goblin Bone page could cause issues.
That being said, this is a wiki and not my personal little fiefdom, so if you think you have a better way to do it, PLEASE give it a shot. I watch all the changes on the site (or at least try), so even if I disagree and change it, some part of your idea may end up being far better. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 19:01, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
You may not claim the title, but we all know: You're king of the Elanthipedia Kingdom...:).
So, on the stack vs. no-stack thing, I see where you're coming from.
And, we do already have Goblin Bone and Pale Goblin Bone (thanks to Antendren checking a snow goblin question I had) so I do suspect that if the GM's release something from 2 similar creatures, they will give it a separate name. Hopefully. Probably. Maybe.
At the end of the day, I don't really care how we proceed with this, I'm happy to help populate everything. --Kythryn 00:55, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
And because I'm just itching to do something with this tonight it seems, I have been playing around with Caracal-pelt Leather, including the base pelt and made a test table under the COMMON LEATHER section on the Crafting Materials page. ugh, sorry I didn't get all those leather crafting supplies finished up yet but I did guilt Anuind into getting me samples of all the remaining common leather skins and have them tanned.

Ugh, looks like some red-links are still on the crafting materials page from the server transfer.

Heya! I'm updating some of the Hib stuff, and in the Barbarian guild, there is a door that looks like is Barb-only and it looks to be a shop.

>look door
Polished into the brushed bronze of the door are letters that spell out, "Kvaren's".
It is open.
>go doo
A large hand reaches out from behind the curtain and blocks your entrance.

[Elding Gwilt, Kvaren's] There is little space to move about in this cramped shop.

On the small shelf you see a dented flask, a leather flask, a hammered brass flask, an engraved flask and a wooden flask.

On the stout table you see a bronze paintstick, a cobalt blue paintstick, a leaf-green paintstick, a note, a blood-red paintstick, a purple paintstick, a gold paintstick, a maroon paintstick and a black paintstick.
