''Thordus is a constantly faithful man. Until all hope is lost, he remains steadfast and unmoving in his relationships. His sense of humor is questionable, although he has developed it much more since he has chosen to be associated with more barbaric people. He seems able to overcome being a prissy mage in certain company and although he will never shake that part of him..he is not so bad. His vocabulary is limited and you will find him being corrected often when in previously mentioned company. (Written on behalf of a very private barbaric sort. I should be thanked as the words she'd have chosen would have most likely been misunderstood and the language dictated to me was of such that only a street rat fresh off a ship would use. With the threat of severe bodily harm and the wrath of her prissy mage her name is withheld...and I am also 'asked' to say she can read and write only she couldn't with this axe being held to my throat.) History
Thordus’ family was once part of one of the great Elothean Houses. Long ago, for reasons unspoken, the family separated from the Great House, and moved north to Therengia, forming House Blackstorm near Riverhaven. The Blackstorm Family, great scholars and masters of elemental magic, has always tried to remain low key and avoid the corrupt politics of their new home -- Most of the time.
When he was young, Thordus’ parents were concerned as their only son showed no signs of magical ability. They learned differently when, at around age 11, Thordus accidentally set their home on fire. Great things were expected from this young man, and, once he demonstrated magical ability, his family started making plans for him as the heir of House Blackstorm. Young Thordus, having no interest in the machinations of his family, left home at an early age. Telling them he was taking a short vacation, he left and never returned.
Expecting him to have reached his 150th circle within the Warrior Mage guild long ago (which he has not yet done), his family was disappointed in his relaxed attitude. Even his familiar, Astra, expresses her disdain in his lack of accomplishment. Having had no tutors or trainers since leaving home, Thordus’ education and training is lacking in many ways and he now finds himself back-training to fill the gaps in his education.
Travelling the lands for several years he finally settled in the city of Mer’Kresh, eventually becoming a citizen of Qi Reshalia. He was well attuned to the laid back lifestyle of island living. Eventually, seeking a change of scenery, he donned his favorite hooded cloak and headed to the mainland for what was intended to be a short visit.
In Crossing he discovered a newfound popularity due, in part at least, to his teaching skills. Thordus simply imitated the teaching style of his tutors from his youth with some degree of success. Regardless, Thordus made several new friends and found romance -- Once or twice.
One day while sitting at the ranger guild, a young lady wandered in. The girl, whose name was Miradora, was dressed as though she had been travelling and only recently reached civilization. Thordus, in a typical display of generosity, invited her to go shopping in order to upgrade her wardrobe. He was very taken by Mira’s style and grace but later found that she too had family complications. Thordus was not bothered by this situation but as time passed the lady had less and less time for him and was more frequently seen in the company of someone else.
In the meantime, a girl he had met when he first returned to Crossing, had reentered his life and seemed interested in more than just a simple friendship. Having always considered her a friend, Thordus was flattered by her interest, and, after a brief romance, Thordus and Danaerys had become bonded. Sadly, for various reasons, the couple did not have the compatibility for which they had hoped and were divorced within a week or so. More deeply affected by this than he let on, Thordus swore off romance.
One day, Thordus had joined some fellow adventurers in rescuing a child from the curse of Dunshade Manor. After this amazing feat, he and the others were sitting in the empath’s gardens at Willow Walk chatting when a Rakash woman joined them. Thordus found he couldn’t take his eyes off this amazing woman with the incredible red-streaked black hair and conversation came easily. Despite admonitions from his friends and hers’ to take it slowly, Thordus and Abiageal Shadowstar (Abi) had eloped within the span of that day on the 5th month of Uthmor the Giant in the year of the Amber Phoenix, 402 at which time Abi adopted Thordus' family name becoming Abiageal Blackstorm. They kept their bond a secret from their friends at first.
Abiageal’s friends had threatened Thordus should he ever harm Abi. In return for this the couple decided to tease their friends. Initially Thordus hinted to Katjia that the couple might split over the interference, then Abi, while sitting with Thordus in their home, jokingly gwethed to Ariya that she never wanted to hear Thordus’ name again because he had abruptly left her. Thordus nearly fainted over this, which caused a considerable amount of drama including such events as Ariya trying to set Abi up with another man (who was a nice chap, really), attempting to hire Aumaru to assassinate Thordus, and finally taking matters into her own hands and attacking Thordus directly. Once it was finally discovered that they had already eloped, Thordus was again attacked. These are some of Thordus' fondest memories.
The love between Abi and Thordus was such that they each felt they never wish to be apart from the other, and, according to Thordus, they would ever remain newlyweds.
Shortly after they were wed, Abi took Thordus on a tour of her homeland of Siksraja. Thordus was so impressed by Abiageal's heritage and so taken with his lovely bride who had survived so much, that he, despite any possible repercussions, decided then and there to take Abi to his childhood home and introduce her to his family. Much to his relief, not only did his family accept her and greet her warmly, they grew to cherish her as part of the family.
On their first anniversary, Abiageal heard a rumor of her mother, who disappeared in the war with Lyras, being seen up north past Muspar'i and departed abruptly leaving a hastily scrawled note for her beloved husband. Wishing to help and to protect the woman he loved, Thordus left immediately in search of his bride. He even enlisted the aid of his family. Sadly, months later, he returned home alone without having seen any traces of his cherished Abi only to find that House Blackstorm had fallen while helping him seek estranged bride. For this, Thordus blamed himself
After more than a year since Abi's disappearance, Thordus, bereft of hope that she would ever return, broke the bond joining them on the 38th day of the 8th month of Skullcleaver the Dwarven Axe in the year of the Emerald Dolphin, 404, a very sad and rainy day.
One evening, Thordus found himself strolling with a young lady and simply chatting. Something about her made him feel happy and complete like he hadn't felt in ages. It was as if they were old friends. He found her to be fun, exciting, confusing, dangerous, even a little scary and, yes, magical. They found themselves very happily engaged with plans to marry.
Thordus is a constantly faithful man.
