Raccoons

Requirements

Befriending a Raccoon

If you meet the requirements you can get your very own useless ball off fluff, but doing the following.

  • Find some corn, this can be foraged year round in certain locations. Outside ranger tent in Haven and clearing near the goblin brook are two easy places to find it.
  • Travel to Leth Deriel. You want to go to the SW most room outside the SE Gate of Leth.
  • PUT (yes the syntax matters) the corn on the ground.
  • Hide and wait.
  • When a baby raccoon comes out of the bushes and starts to eat the corn, APPROACH raccoon.
  • Repeat until it does not run away form you, then quickly SIGNAL RACCOON TO JUMP.
    • There are hawks in this room that will eat baby raccoons on the ground.
    • Feeding the hawks is endless fun, particularly after you've lost your 20th companion to stupid game mechanics.

Care

  • Feed it corn whenever it whimpers.
    • A (age modifier) raccoon begins to whimper.
  • They get hungry 60 minutes after their last feeding. This is RL time, being logged out still counts.
  • Pet them when they pace and get nervous.
    • A (age modifier) raccoon paces back and forth nervously.

Raccoon Tricks

  • If you are foraging on the edge of your skill and can not find an item, the raccoon will find it for you.

Wolves

Requirements

  • 35th Circle Ranger
  • Animal Lore must be at least 35.
  • No debts, no warrants.
  • No current companion.

Befriending a Wolf

  • Acquire some milk. You can buy this in shops or find it in certain places for free on food tables.
  • Travel to the cougar area near Wolf Clan.
  • While holding the milk, kneel and wait. When the wolf pack appears, APPROACH it.

Care

  • As a baby feed it milk when it whimpers.
  • When it's no longer a baby, feed it meat you have CARVEd from an animal
    • A (age modifier) wolf begins to whimper.
    • Musk hogs, snowebeasts, peccs, la'tami, cougars, boars, and bears give meat. (?Are there others?)
    • Meat spoils about 20 to 30 minutes after carving. Feeding a wolf spoiled meat will make it run away from you. You can use Beseech the Wind to Preserve to extend the life of meat by 60 minutes.

Wolf Tricks

  • You can track your wolf if you have enough scouting and animal lore.
  • You can send your non-baby wolf to find track people, then scout to the wolf.
  • Wolves can carry items, but not weapons or coins.
    • A baby wolf can not carry anything.
    • A young wolf can carry ?? stones of weight
    • A full-grown wolf can carry 70 stones of weight
