Forging Factor is a player-created term to describe one's aptitude for forging metal weapons and armor.

The weapon and armor forging factors are now obsolete. (Equipment ranks no longer affect smithing.)

Formulas

The generalized forging factor formula for weapons is:

An example using Twohanded Edged skill as the weapon being forged:

Example calculation for 2HE:
(6*2HE + HE + ME + LE + ML)/10
(6*250 + 212 + 161 + 161 + 176)/10 = 221

The generalized forging factor formula for armor is:
