In the winter of 57 AV, the 8th year of the War, the [[Gemfire Dwarves]] defeated the [[Therengia|Therengians]]. The Battle of Gemfire's Gates was a decisive battle in the Therengia-Kwarlog War. In the winter of 57 AV, the 8th year of the War, the Gemfire Dwarves defeated the Therengians. During this battle, the dwarves used tunnels carved north of Gemfire's Gate, assaulting the northern army as it prepared to march. A second dwarven army, from Hvaral, attacked the Baron's southern army and crushed it. Due to his failure to defeat the dwarves, Baron Paumar hangs himself and Artosh becomes Baron.
