==Weapon Template Error== |
|||
== Woolly References == |
|||
Heya talking to jaedren today I was wondering if it was Woolly or Wooly tanglefoot. It should be Woolly(2 L's). I wasn't sure how you wanted to change that since there's an entry on Wooly and Woolly, and there's a few typo's in game, the trading cards(he said that'd be fine unchanged) and the Bardic recall(he said that should be changed in game). |
|||
--Powerhaus 2 sept 2010 |
|||
: That's odd. From what I gather from talking to Raesh, the recall basically pulls from the card itself. Maybe I misunderstood. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 18:48, 2 September 2010 (UTC) |

The damage template is missing "demolishing." Example: w<br> |

I do not want to mess anything up by trying to do it myself since I am not exactly sure what you did, but I just wanted to mention that not all of the Clan categories are done. I noticed two PCs still showing up on the NPC list for Forest Elves, for instance. |

==Template Request: Material Properties== |
|||
== Heya == |
|||
re: your note<br> |
|||
Cyia wanted a page, and she's not good at the code, so I just made one up for her real quick, and said I'd clean up whatever she decided to put there later. Also did the same for Meanne(page building), but she's edited it since then. Lemme know if you got any issues or anything, I can just give C a formated version of whatever that she can just paste if that works better. |
|||
Etherian has been working on an Alteration Buddy, and we were thinking it would be extremely helpful for those designing alterations to be able to query for certain "fluff" properties of materials. This would best be accomplished by making a "Material Properties: template with the following fields: |
|||
--Powerhaus 29 april 2010 |
|||
Using - for any field would set the value to none. |

*Category: drop-down menu with the following options: |

|||
*Type of: if the material is considered a sub-type, variation, or alloy of another material, such as moonsilver (silver), steelsilk (silk), glacier emerald (emerald), etc. |
|||
I am sorry I am really new at this so I don't even know if this is how I should be contacting you. Wanted to say first "thank you" for all the work you and everyone else here have done. It has been an enormous aide to me. Second, I saw that you were looking for an update to the "Glyph of Warding" page? I have never edited a wiki page before so I am pretty uninformed. However, I was wondering what information you were looking for? |
|||
::This should be treated as N/A if blank. |
|||
Note: I know there are existing category tags for the above two options. think it would ultimately be better to move the page categorization from the manual category tags to the template. I am happy to do this work once the template is set up. |
|||
If I put this in the wrong place, this message, my sincere apologies. |
|||
*Description: I would move the official description of the material from free text to the template |

|||
: This is exactly how you do it, so no worries, and thanks. Basically, the page hasn't been updated since the new depart mechanics went in, and I know glyph of warding was changed then. I just don't remember how it now interacts with the new mechanics. Don't worry about the editing, just try your best and one of the many people who work on this site will come along and fix any formatting issues. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 05:44, 22 April 2010 (UTC) |

*Color: if the material has an inherent or default color, drop-down menu with the following options: |
|||
::red/pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, neutral (white/black/grey), multicolored, or none (if the material has no inherent color) |
|||
*Gives light: drop-down menu (yes or no). When altering an item, the item cannot give off light unless it is made of a material that gives off light, such as moonsilver. I have found myself searching for materials with this property to match a design. |
|||
Thanks for getting back to me. I did find a few posts by Dartenian about departing with a ward as well as the new "glyph" command which is meant to replace "trace". I can paste them in or something, but I am currently looking at the page in edit mode and I have to admit, I'm really overwhelmed and think I'm out of my league. I am really sorry. I can paste in the info I think. But formatting it correctly I think is out of my skill set right now. I hope I don't mess anything up. |
|||
::Because light is a rare property, this value should be presumed no if blank. |

This freakin' shop SWITCHED its prices in the middle of me trying to figure out how to use a Wiki ... Updated prices on Great Outdoors, The (2) to appropriate Lirums values. Sorry for letting my n00b show, but is adding an item page as simple as adding a tag for it? There's a bullwhip missing from that crate. Will try to find that answer for myself while I update the rest of those. =D |

Couple things I've had trouble reverse engineering (namely that Bardic Journey, The =/= The Bardic Journey, and how to list an item's slot as "tied to hair") but I think I'm getting the hang of it without leaving any stupid mistakes behind. Skizzy 23:05, 17 May 2010 (UTC) |

:To set an item as hair worn depends on if you're doing it by hand or with the Form. The Form has a drop down menu that'll set where an item is worn, just select Hair. If you're doing the work by hand, "|Wearloc=hair". When setting Wearloc, make sure you set the Type as well. Even if you properly set the location, if you don't set one of the Types to Jewelry, Clothing or Container the page will not display the worn location.<br>-Glimmereyes 01:48, 18 May 2010 (UTC) |

So I thought I was making up the BONE item pages the same as how you'd made up the METAL item pages, but now I see you're starting to do re-directs on them to other page names. First off, sorry! Guess I should have just done one and gotten you to look it over first. So, with that in mind, do you want to go ahead and do the first leather item up (right now, looks like Antelope skin), so I have a template to do the other leather items that way too so that you won't have to go back and fiddle them later? Not trying to make more work for you...:) --Kythryn 14:51, 15 November 2013 (UTC) |
|||
: Actually, I'm still testing it, trying to find the way that makes the most sense. Metals and stones are fairly simple, as they always are obvious what they are. Skin and bones isn't always quite so straightforward. I list them in stack form for a couple reasons: |
|||
::# So people can easily match what's in their pack to crafting stats. |
|||
::# Because some skin/bones we can't actually attribute to a specific creature yet or come from multiple creatures. |
|||
::# Because some skin/bones is very oddly named. |
|||
::# Because some similarly named items might end up being very different (Snow Goblin bones might end up different than Elven Pixie Forest and Plains Goblin bones) and so having a Goblin Bone page could cause issues. |
|||
: That being said, this is a wiki and not my personal little fiefdom, so if you think you have a better way to do it, PLEASE give it a shot. I watch all the changes on the site (or at least try), so even if I disagree and change it, some part of your idea may end up being far better. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 19:01, 15 November 2013 (UTC) |

::You may not claim the title, but we all know: You're king of the Elanthipedia Kingdom...:). |
|||
:::So, on the stack vs. no-stack thing, I see where you're coming from. But, on the flip side of that, if you're looking to match what is in a pack, why not lumium shard or silk cloth or onyx rock? I mean, the only thing you can (currently) pick up from it's name is a prepared healing herb (ie. crushed belradi moss becomes crushed belradi), everything else you see as a "cloth" or an "ingot" or whatever. (not trying to be difficult here, but seems like the other materials already have their "qualifier" stripped off, so why not with Bone & Leather too). |
|||
:::And, we do already have Goblin Bone and Pale Goblin Bone (thanks to Antendren checking a snow goblin question I had) so I do suspect that if the GM's release something from 2 similar creatures, they will give it a separate name. Hopefully. Probably. Maybe. |
|||

::::Ugh, looks like some red-links are still on the crafting materials page from the server transfer. Also, there are some naming things going on when you look at the Crafting Materials#Rare Leather, sometimes it is an item other times it is just a page. I don't think I'll be re-visiting this in the near future, however if you want to let me know the page naming standard you want for things, if it hasn't been done by the time I motivate, I'll be happy to go through and standardize and follow-up on the red-links. --Kythryn 15:33, 25 January 2015 (CST) |

== Hib Barbarian shop == |

Moved this discussion over here. I'm not talking about a glut of PC pages. I'm talking about pages of characters that DON'T exist at all. Example: http://www.elanthipedia.com/wiki/Ena It's for someone's house pet. Another example: http://www.elanthipedia.com/wiki/Thewonmisral He states the character will probably never be actually seen and is just part of history (though I know things change, so you know, that'd be something to confirm.) These are the examples I'm talking about - not actually played characters. The hedgehog as an NPC really bothers me for the precedent it could set. --Ysselt 04:13, 21 May 2010 (UTC) |

Heya! I'm updating some of the Hib stuff, and in the Barbarian guild, there is a door that looks like is Barb-only and it looks to be a shop. |

:Polished into the brushed bronze of the door are letters that spell out, "Kvaren's". |
|||

:A large hand reaches out from behind the curtain and blocks your entrance. A burly guard mutters to you, "Just where, do you think yer goin? This shop is fer members of the Guild only." |
|||
I don't know how often you get out of Crossing, but if you're ever out this way, or you know a Barb in the area, might have them pop over and document the stuff? From the street, go boulder, go door, go grey arch, east, SE, east. That puts you in the room to GO DOOR to the shop. --Kythryn 16:06, 31 January 2015 (CST) |

I don't even want to think about how much stronger you must be now. |
|||
There is little space to move about in this cramped shop. The bronze door opens inward, guiding customers straight to a display counter, while not making maneuvering any easier. To the left of the the counter, a number of axes have been placed on display on a rack. Adding to the clutter of the establishment, a small shelf hangs above a stout table, each showing off their own wares. |
|||
Obvious exits: none. |
|||
On the display counter you see a small iron axe bearded with bright steel, an oak-hafted hurling axe with a wide steel blade inlaid with gold tracings, a slender steel throwing axe with a white leather-wrapped haft, a heavy bronze hurling axe with a river boa-shaped haft, a short-hafted hand axe with a dragon-engraved blade, a small axe with faint engravings along its length and a light bronze throwing axe with a grass eel-shaped haft. |
|||
See you in the Realms! |
|||
On the axe rack you see a dark ironwood-hafted axe with a cruelly serrated head, a hand axe with an iron-banded handle, a smoke grey lochaber axe with a mottled steel head, a flint-bladed axe with a lengthened handle, an elm-handled battle axe topped by a grinning steel wolfshead, a black iron axe with a maple handle wrapped in thin leather cording, a twohanded war axe with a skull-shaped pommel, a crescent-bladed war axe engraved with a flame pattern, a goldenoak-hafted battle axe with a shining silvered blade and a sleek lochaber axe with a razored edge. |
|||
-Stuwart; Dwarven Cleric of Urrem'tier. |
|||
On the small shelf you see a dented flask, a leather flask, a hammered brass flask, an engraved flask and a wooden flask. |
|||
On the stout table you see a bronze paintstick, a cobalt blue paintstick, a leaf-green paintstick, a note, a blood-red paintstick, a purple paintstick, a gold paintstick, a maroon paintstick and a black paintstick. |
|||
== juggling list == |
|||
Caraamon, if you get a chance, could you have a look at the juggling table I started in my sandbox/juggle. The current list of juggling items on the perception page doesn't list the vast majority of the jugglies we have as items. I thought it would make more sense to compile the table based on "juggle" item types instead. However, with the current item templates, only store-bought juggling items will list their source. That's at least as far as I can get... I'm not so good with figuring out templates. If you're able to work out a solution, I'll go through and get the current perception page list itemized. |

Hi there Caraamon. What's up with all of the "Concept" pages that show up in Special:BrokenRedirects? If you visit those pages, it looks like they're correctly redirecting to Item pages. All the pages have been moved back to their proper name and I've slowly been deleting the Concept pages, but don't always think to fix/Delete the pages linking to the Concept. |
|||
When you can please take a look. |

:Short answer, either ignore the Concept pages or tag them with the Delete template. Pages that redirect to Concept pages should be altered to point to the Item name space.<br>-Glimmereyes 19:19, 16 July 2010 (UTC) |

== Adding TOC to player template card == |
|||
Hey Caraamon! Having a Table of Contents and a Player Template Card on the same page was bugging me, so I wanted to take a shot at combining the two. See it in action on Uzmam's page. Absolon also helped out by making it a y/n toggle. I also took the left hand padding from the TOC, changed it into a margin, and adding it to the player template as a whole, giving some space between the main body copy and the player template card. |

If you like how it works (and if it doesn't break anything!), we can flow it into the default templates for PCs and NPCs. Maybe even shops, who knows! --TEVESHSZAT (talk) 22:33, 13 January 2016 (CST) |

== Title redirect / caching issue? == |
|||
Ok I came across a weird issue in regards to titles. Take the title "Shadowmancer" for example. If you go to the Title:Shadowmancer title page everything is right. If you click on the discussion tab in Title:Shadowmancer or directly go to Shadowmancer which redirects to Title:Shadowmancer you see some old cached version of the page (which you can't edit, when you try to you edit the current version, not this cached version). Now oddly if while on that bad cached page, you click the "(Redirected from Shadowmancer)" link, it takes you back to Shadowmancer, and then when you manually click the redirect link, it takes you to the correct Title:Shadowmancer. Not sure really what is going on here. Sorry if that is a bit confusing but hopefully it's detailed enough. |
|||
Also as an aside question, for updating titles, the article obsolete stub says "Some of these requirements have not been updated to 3.0. These requirements are italicized." I add the new=yes field to a title when I know all the reqs are updated and it gets rid of the "This article is obsolete" stub, but I'm not sure how to make updated reqs be non italicized (though I guess once the stub is removed it doesn't really matter if they are italicized or not?). -SYDNEE (talk) 14:20, 13 February 2016 (CST) |
|||
: Unfortunately, that's an odd bug that is not something we can fix. I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but we have a bunch of similar bugs having to do with missing discussion pages. |

I created a page for my character Enalen a couple days ago. It's been added to the proper categories via the PC template, and they are linked at the end of the page so that seems to be working fine. But when you go to any of those categories, her page isn't actually filed under them. Also I added an image to the database and put it on the page. It displays properly on the character page but when you look at the image's info page, it claims nothing links to it. |
|||
:Unfortunately, category pages take a while to populate. If the recent Chris' Mass shop category page is any indication, this should happen automatically within a week. By the way, please only use the actual race name (for example, Elf), not clans, in the race field. I added a category at the bottom to categorize your page as a player River Elf. --ISHARON (talk) 18:13, 7 January 2017 (CST) |

On top of those two things, I'm unable to create my own user page. When I click my Username and click create, I am sent to a blank page with nothing on it. The create page shows up fine when clicking any other red link though. Are these bugs? Or are they some of the functions that were broken by the update mentioned? -- DOOMKITTY (talk) 05:42, 3 January 2017 (CST) |

Weapon Template Error
The damage template is missing "demolishing." Example: massive kertig maul with gnarled smokewood haft
Damage scale: Appraisal_skill#Weapons
Template Request: Material Properties
Etherian has been working on an Alteration Buddy, and we were thinking it would be extremely helpful for those designing alterations to be able to query for certain "fluff" properties of materials. This would best be accomplished by making a "Material Properties: template with the following fields:
Using - for any field would set the value to none.
- Material Name: same as page name unless otherwise specified
- Category: drop-down menu with the following options:
- bone/horn, fabric, flower/plant, gem, leather, metal, shell, stone, wood, or other
- Type of: if the material is considered a sub-type, variation, or alloy of another material, such as moonsilver (silver), steelsilk (silk), glacier emerald (emerald), etc.
- This should be treated as N/A if blank.
Note: I know there are existing category tags for the above two options. think it would ultimately be better to move the page categorization from the manual category tags to the template. I am happy to do this work once the template is set up.
- Description: I would move the official description of the material from free text to the template
- Required for Alterations: drop-down (yes or no)
- This should be flagged as unknown if blank.
- Color: if the material has an inherent or default color, drop-down menu with the following options:
- red/pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, neutral (white/black/grey), multicolored, or none (if the material has no inherent color)
- Gives light: drop-down menu (yes or no). When altering an item, the item cannot give off light unless it is made of a material that gives off light, such as moonsilver. I have found myself searching for materials with this property to match a design.
- Because light is a rare property, this value should be presumed no if blank.
- Race association: drop-down menu with the following options:
- none, Dwarf, Elf, Elothean, Gnome, Gor'Tog, Halfling, Human, Kaldar/Gorbesh, Prydaen, Rakash, or S'Kra Mur
- Because race associations are rare, this value should be presumed none if blank.
- none, Dwarf, Elf, Elothean, Gnome, Gor'Tog, Halfling, Human, Kaldar/Gorbesh, Prydaen, Rakash, or S'Kra Mur
- Guild association: drop-down menu with the following options:
- none, Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Empath, Moon Mage, Necromancer, Paladin, Ranger, Thief, Trader, or Warrior Mage
- Because guild associations are rare, this value should be presumed none if blank.
- none, Barbarian, Bard, Cleric, Empath, Moon Mage, Necromancer, Paladin, Ranger, Thief, Trader, or Warrior Mage
- God association: drop-down menu with the following options:
- none, Chadatru, Rutilor, Botolf, Damaris, Phelim, Dergati, Eluned, Lemicus, Drogor, Everild, Kuniyo, Trothfang, Faenella, Murrula, Idon, Glythtide, Saemaus, Be'ort, Hav'roth, Peri'el, Ushnish, Hodierna, Berengaria, Asketi, Kertigen, Divyaush, Zachriedek, Meraud, Firulf, Kerenhappuch, Tamsine, Albreda, Harawep, Truffenyi, Alamhif, Huldah, Urrem'tier, Eylhaar, Aldauth, Rakash god(s), Prydaen god(s), Alaudian/Gorbesh god(s), Gnomish god(s), or other
- Because god associations are rare, this value should be presumed none if blank.
- none, Chadatru, Rutilor, Botolf, Damaris, Phelim, Dergati, Eluned, Lemicus, Drogor, Everild, Kuniyo, Trothfang, Faenella, Murrula, Idon, Glythtide, Saemaus, Be'ort, Hav'roth, Peri'el, Ushnish, Hodierna, Berengaria, Asketi, Kertigen, Divyaush, Zachriedek, Meraud, Firulf, Kerenhappuch, Tamsine, Albreda, Harawep, Truffenyi, Alamhif, Huldah, Urrem'tier, Eylhaar, Aldauth, Rakash god(s), Prydaen god(s), Alaudian/Gorbesh god(s), Gnomish god(s), or other
I would adapt the Manual of Style standards for items for use with materials.

Templates
Something is wrong with the armor template, where it's flagged as cambrinth, but the max charge isn't displaying. E.g., dark glaes armor inlaid with complex cambrinth designs --ISHARON (talk) 20:08, 28 January 2017 (CST)
Crafting material pages
So I thought I was making up the BONE item pages the same as how you'd made up the METAL item pages, but now I see you're starting to do re-directs on them to other page names. First off, sorry! Guess I should have just done one and gotten you to look it over first. So, with that in mind, do you want to go ahead and do the first leather item up (right now, looks like Antelope skin), so I have a template to do the other leather items that way too so that you won't have to go back and fiddle them later? Not trying to make more work for you...:) --Kythryn 14:51, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
- Actually, I'm still testing it, trying to find the way that makes the most sense. Metals and stones are fairly simple, as they always are obvious what they are. Skin and bones isn't always quite so straightforward. I list them in stack form for a couple reasons:
- So people can easily match what's in their pack to crafting stats.
- Because some skin/bones we can't actually attribute to a specific creature yet or come from multiple creatures.
- Because some skin/bones is very oddly named.
- Because some similarly named items might end up being very different (Snow Goblin bones might end up different than Elven Pixie Forest and Plains Goblin bones) and so having a Goblin Bone page could cause issues.
- That being said, this is a wiki and not my personal little fiefdom, so if you think you have a better way to do it, PLEASE give it a shot. I watch all the changes on the site (or at least try), so even if I disagree and change it, some part of your idea may end up being far better. -Moderator Caraamon Makdasi(talk) 19:01, 15 November 2013 (UTC)
- You may not claim the title, but we all know: You're king of the Elanthipedia Kingdom...:).
- So, on the stack vs. no-stack thing, I see where you're coming from.
- And, we do already have Goblin Bone and Pale Goblin Bone (thanks to Antendren checking a snow goblin question I had) so I do suspect that if the GM's release something from 2 similar creatures, they will give it a separate name. Hopefully. Probably. Maybe.
- At the end of the day, I don't really care how we proceed with this, I'm happy to help populate everything. --Kythryn 00:55, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
- And because I'm just itching to do something with this tonight it seems, I have been playing around with Caracal-pelt Leather, including the base pelt and made a test table under the COMMON LEATHER section on the Crafting Materials page. Let me know what you think, make changes, etc. Thanks! --Kythryn 03:32, 16 November 2013 (UTC)

- ugh, sorry I didn't get all those leather crafting supplies finished up yet but I did guilt Anuind into getting me samples of all the remaining common leather skins and have them tanned. So, I am (hoping!) to finish that up this coming weekend. That being said, I'd posted on the forums, and will add this to the "crafting feedback" page too, but since there are currently 2 common skins that turn into "some azure-scale leather", each with different stats, should I go ahead and make "some azure-scale leather (1)" and "some azure-scale leather (2)", and a master "disambig" page like this link for both?

- Ugh, looks like some red-links are still on the crafting materials page from the server transfer. --Kythryn 15:33, 25 January 2015 (CST)

Hib Barbarian shop
Heya! I'm updating some of the Hib stuff, and in the Barbarian guild, there is a door that looks like is Barb-only and it looks to be a shop.
- >look door
- Polished into the brushed bronze of the door are letters that spell out, "Kvaren's".
- It is open.
- >go doo
- A large hand reaches out from behind the curtain and blocks your entrance. A burly guard mutters to you, "Just where, do you think yer goin? This shop is fer members of the Guild only."
I don't know how often you get out of Crossing, but if you're ever out this way, or you know a Barb in the area, might have them pop over and document the stuff? From the street, go boulder, go door, go grey arch, east, SE, east. That puts you in the room to GO DOOR to the shop. --Kythryn 16:06, 31 January 2015 (CST)
Don't know if this has been answered yet but as I'm in Hibarnhvidor I decided to check this out. Here is the room inside the door and contents of shop. --Rhadyn 22 January 2016
[Elding Gwilt, Kvaren's] There is little space to move about in this cramped shop. The bronze door opens inward, guiding customers straight to a display counter, while not making maneuvering any easier. To the left of the the counter, a number of axes have been placed on display on a rack. Adding to the clutter of the establishment, a small shelf hangs above a stout table, each showing off their own wares. Obvious exits: none.
On the small shelf you see a dented flask, a leather flask, a hammered brass flask, an engraved flask and a wooden flask.
On the stout table you see a bronze paintstick, a cobalt blue paintstick, a leaf-green paintstick, a note, a blood-red paintstick, a purple paintstick, a gold paintstick, a maroon paintstick and a black paintstick.

Any file type I attempt to upload, I receive the following error:
The file is a corrupt or otherwise unreadable ZIP file. It cannot be properly checked for security.
I have tried sfhunter.txt, odt, and docx. I uploaded a new version in November and have made some fixes I need to get uploaded.
When you can please take a look.

I'm having this problem with image files too, FWIW. It's saying the MIME type is wrong but I've checked the headers and they seem to be totally fine. Tried this with both PNGs and JPGs. -- Thayet (talk) 17:00, 7 December 2015 (CST)
Adding TOC to player template card
Hey Caraamon! Having a Table of Contents and a Player Template Card on the same page was bugging me, so I wanted to take a shot at combining the two. See it in action on Uzmam's page. Absolon also helped out by making it a y/n toggle. I also took the left hand padding from the TOC, changed it into a margin, and adding it to the player template as a whole, giving some space between the main body copy and the player template card.
If you like how it works (and if it doesn't break anything!), we can flow it into the default templates for PCs and NPCs. Maybe even shops, who knows! --TEVESHSZAT (talk) 22:33, 13 January 2016 (CST)
Title redirect / caching issue?
-SYDNEE (talk) 14:20, 13 February 2016 (CST)
- Unfortunately, that's an odd bug that is not something we can fix. I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but we have a bunch of similar bugs having to do with missing discussion pages.
- To deitalicize a requirement, put "newreq=y" somewhere in the requirement. -CARAAMON (talk) 00:58, 15 February 2016 (CST)

grammar issue with juggling items
"This item is trains a skill with its use." is what they say right now, I'd change it myself but not sure how/where. Should be something like 'Trains perception with use.' or if its generic with other skill building items 'Trains a skill with its use.' --Legeres (talk) 17:14, 14 November 2016 (CST)
- It is shared with several other tags. And right now with things as unstable as they are, I'd rather not edit a template that is used by so many pages. -CARAAMON (talk) 22:01, 17 November 2016 (CST)
