Heliotrope is a mineral aggregate that is also known as bloodstone and is a mixture of quartz that occurs mostly as opaque jasper or as translucent chalcedony.
When specifically referred to as heliotrope, this gem is described as being named for its bright pinkish-undertones and purple hues reminiscent of heliotrope flowers. This a is transparent gem of exceptional clarity.
