A pewter oil lamp hangs on a rusty chain from the shadows above, casting a hazy amber glow on a cluttered countertop and the one-armed attendant behind it. The man's booted foot rests atop a sloppy stack of books on the counter. Occasionally he glances at three hourglasses perched on a rock and grudgingly shuffles through a leather curtain when one runs down.

Tunnel

[Reach Forge, Tunnel]
The jagged stone walls are blackened with accumulated soot and coal ash. Light spills in from three arches leading to the west, north and east, barely illuminating the hot, stuffy tunnel and several large buckets. Wisps of cooler air seep in from beneath a leather curtain leading back out to the forecavern.
You also see a large sign and a low iron gate.

Bulk Materials

[Reach Forge, Bulk Materials]
The sweltering heat from the nearby forges is a constant -- the walls absorb and radiate the heat at all hours of the day and night, never cooling as smiths keep the flames stoked. Most of the stone walls are still rough and the ceiling high, but a counter with a bored clerk behind it takes up space along a tapestry-draped wall tucked away in the back corner. The pathway along the floor from the north leading to the desk has been worn smooth from the traffic.

Though slightly cooler than the rest of the tunnel, the air in this cramped alcove is thick and dank. Narrow airshafts drilled through the granite skin of the mountain provide entry for thin tendrils of light to illuminate a low counter along with a crate stuffed into a corner.

Western Smithy

[Reach Forge, Western Smithy]
The forge's builders took advantage of natural ledges in the cavern, hewing the unforgiving stone only to create the necessary chimneys. A side-vented forge set on a natural shelf glows along the northern perimeter, throwing red-orange light across the massive iron anvil that dominates the center of the room.
You also see an arch, a grindstone, a pile of fuel, a slack tub filled with water and a large waste bucket.

Western Foundry

[Reach Forge, Western Foundry]
Searing heat floods the cavern from the foundry fires, quickly warming whatever cool air enters from several airshafts drilled into the soot-blackened stone walls. Raging flames dance below a large stone crucible hanging from a wooden beam so it can be moved on or off the fire. At the far end of the room, a large pile of fuel waits to feed the flames.
You also see an ingot cutter and a large waste bucket.

Northern Smithy

[Reach Forge, Northern Smithy]
A blackened iron anvil is bolted to a rise in the stone floor and dominates the cavern. Red-orange firelight glows from the forge built into a natural shelf and recreates the anvil's shape in heroic size on the opposite wall.
You also see an arch, a grindstone, a pile of fuel, a slack tub filled with water and a large waste bucket.

Northern Foundry

[Reach Forge, Northern Foundry]
Showers of angry red sparks fly from the fires raging beneath a large, black-veined crucible that hangs from a hinged wooden beam, ready to be swung onto the flames when needed. Nearby, a platform is set up supporting the gears and lever of the cavern's ingot cutter.
You also see a large waste bucket.

Eastern Smithy

[Reach Forge, Eastern Smithy]
Brilliant red-orange light glows from a side-vented forge crafted from a natural shelf on the northern wall. Above it, an assortment of fire-blackened tools hangs just out of arm's reach and a few steps away the large, iron anvil waits patiently to help shape metal into the form of men's dreams.
You also see an arch, a grindstone, a pile of fuel, a slack tub filled with water and a large waste bucket.
Obvious exits: east.

Eastern Foundry

[Reach Forge, Eastern Foundry]
Waves of intense heat pour from the white-hot flames that flicker madly beneath the massive, polished granite crucible that hangs from a wooden swing-arm above. Ready to be fed into the crucible, a healthy pile of fuel is shoved into the corner of the soot-darkened stone walls.
You also see an ingot cutter and a large waste bucket.
