Welcome to being a Moon Mage. If you are reading this, you either talked to Guildleader Gylwyn, or Guildleader Kssarh was not bothered by your presence long enough to throw you out a window. Moon Mages are the Elanthian seers, prophets, and masters of . |

While some would consider being a Moon Mage a life of ease, the truth is far different. Clerics follow the immortals while we view the heavens for insight and guidance, and even regularly walk the Astral Plane. Moon Mages are magicians first, and loremasters second. If you want to view the heavens, travel distant worlds, and use the force of your mind, the Moon Mage guild is for you. |
==Abilities== |
Moon Mages are intimately in touch with the celestial bodies and the notion of time. They are also enchanters and astrologers. |

Astrology lets the Moon Mage study the heavenly bodies for insight into the future. For some this is a calculation of space, time, and probablity, for others it takes on a more spirital and ritual nature. The results are the same. Through careful observation predictions can be made on people's abilities either to their benefit or detriment. There are several different tools available for the aspiring astrologer, or the use of the mage's mind alone. Nearly 70 heavenly bodies are able to be studied as you increase your standing within the guild. |
=Other Stuff= |
Eventually the mage even gains the ability to broadly study the heavens and gain insight into what events may happen in the future. |
===Notable Items=== |
Using careful observation and study, Moon Mages can also predict the weather, with increasing accuracy and insight into the future as they age. |
;pale moonsilk robe with a silver and sunstone belt-clasp |
:The pale blue material is woven of stone-washed raw silk, creating a heavy fabric with a lush sheen. Darkened bracers feature images of Xibar in various phases and hold the robe firmly to the forearm when worn. Dulled silver ravens and copper wolves edge the hem of the garment. The highly polished silver belt-clasp forms the shape of a mountain, with a raven whose wings are outspread. The raven clasps a sunstone scroll with writing upon it. |
===Enchanting=== |
:A pale moonsilk robe reads: "Kraggur Kveldcharn, Nenavskan" |
As a Moon Mage gains in stature amongst the Guild and their peers, they will be able to undertake studies in order to learn how to bind ordinary items with magical abilities. Through gaining knowledge of Enchanting, items can be imbued that are the items of legend. Rings of invisiblity, devices to share and send thoughts, brooches which can improve ones skill with a blade. |
;long carving knife etched with lunar symbols |
===Power Perception Mastery=== |
Alone of all magic users in Kermoria, Moon Mages are not bound to the whims of areas for the strength of their magic. Lunar mana is constant across the world, its powers being derived from the movements of the heavens themselves. This is both greatly beneficial, allowing the mage unfettered access to mana, but also a detriment, for the mage cannot move themselves in order to improve the quality of mana. They also may extend their senses to view what spells and enchantments lay upon items and other people. |
:The stars of Kertigen's constellation, the Raven, are etched onto one side of the blade. Opposite the stars are a series of animals following a trail of runes, all set in copper. Raven wings sweep up from the hilt to form a hand guard, while the feet clasp a sunstone scroll. |
===The Ways=== |
When Grazhir shattered, several shards landed upon Kermoria. The Guild has taken and bound several of these shards, allowing a sufficiently powerful mage to attempt Astral Travel. This is not for the weak of mind or the inexperienced mage, as death can threaten with only the slighest hope of recovery. However, with this risk comes the ability to reach virtually any area of Kermoria in minutes rather than the time taken to walk somewhere on foot. |

==Training a Moon Mage== |
Moon Mages are magicians and scholars primarily. However, they do need some survival skills as well: several aid in studying the heavens, others ensure that one can survive the effects of angry townspeople who do not like knowing the truth about the future. |
:Polished leather panels reinforce the worn burlap, each intricately detailed with images of Garnedhren's grottos, Hibarnhvidar's Svadh shrine, High Hold's imposing walls, the Gemfire mountains, and a depiction of Kwarlog's blue flame. |
===Magic=== |
Magic is the primary focus of a Moon Mage. The more powerful the magical skills, the more effective the spells. Primary Magic will dictate the strength of many abilities, including how far away one can teleport or open a moon gate. Harness affects the ability to hold gates (or mana) for longer periods of time. Magical Devices lets one store energy in cambrinth as well as impacts enchanting abilities. Targeted magic lets one more accurately focus their spells upon a target to destroy it. It will likely be the most powerful offensive weapon in the Moon Mage's arsenal. |
;steelsilk satchel artfully woven with images of Garnedhren |
===Lore=== |
:Worked into the dusky background are imposing dark-walled edifices swathed in shadow. Detailed images of the rise and fall of the Iron Kingdom, including scenes of King Hvalig's murder at the hands of the Mountain Elves, are depicted amid the intricate weave. A flowing, embroidered script encircles the center of the piece. |
Moon Mages are scholars and seers. Scholarship helps studying sigil scrolls and other abilities. A sage must be able to read in order to understand the future. Astrology is a signature Moon Mage skill that affects enchanting and predicting the future. Other important skills include Mechanical Lore (for enchanting) and Appraisal to tell accurately an item's worth. |
:"Beware the treachery of the Liitharen" |
===Survival=== |
A Mage needs to be able to survive to gain wisdom and power. Evasion will likely be their primary defense against the foes. Foraging lets one find limbs for creating their burins for enchanting, or herbs to heal wounds. Perception helps see the heavens. Other skills like First Aid will help tend wounds, while Swimming or Climbing will help one reach otherwise inaccessible places. |

====The Gems of the Dwarven-Holds==== |
The Silfarshal's held a cache of rare gems from the Dwarven Holds. The chief gem was a zenith spinel drawn from a deep mine in the Gemfire Mountains. It was set into a brooch with Kertigen's Raven opposite the "K" of the Kveldcharns. A skinning knife was set with the Vela'tohr Tourmaline from the family's ancient homeland of Kwarlog in the Arncharn Shel. Third was a phantom sapphire, drawn from the Himineldar Shel where Hibarnhvidar lies. It was set into a cunning device which allowed it to be changed into various forms of jewelry. Fourth was a circlet, worn by the Lord of the Silfarshal, set with a mystic topaz, drawn from the far reaches of the old Kingdom of Rendstaan, from the Monks who reside in the Lesser Fist. |
Armors and Weaponry are the weakest skills for a Moon Mage. This is both good and bad. It lets the mage experiment with different weapons or armors while not restricting their advancement in the guild. The downside is a mage can easily let these skills fall behind, resulting often in a poor mage who is unable to deal with their foes. |
;a long-bladed skinning knife set with a vela'tohr tourmaline attached to the base of the hilt |
Usual weapons include medium or heavy edged weapons, while light chain or leather armors are popular for defense. A shield is an easily trained defense and is highly recommended. Regarding weapons, the Moonblade and Shape Moonblade spells will let the Moon Mage form all types of edged weapons as well as a quarterstaff. |
:Nomadic symbols of dancing creatures from myth and legend are etched into the polished blade. The bone handle curves slightly, ending with a perfectly faceted blossom-shaped stone which generates a marvelous inner fire in verdant green hues. |

:Reminiscent of the harsh, wintry hues of Himineldar Shel, the silvery white warp threads of the elegant garment glitter icily against the cold grey metallic threads used in the weft of the loom. The cloak has been masterfully designed to drape in gently rippling folds from the wearer's shoulders to the ground. A raven sculpted from pristine silver and a "K" cast from gleaming gold flank the central jewel used for the brooch. Under indoor lighting, the zenith spinel exhibits a fiery scarlet hue. |

=Gems= |

a translucent blue-green svelae - This extremely hard gem has a diamond-like luster but an even brighter fire than the standard diamond. Svelae are mined among the mountains near Hibarnhvidar, and special pride and care is taken with each one found. Formed in a manner similar to diamonds, svelae gems are saturated by colorful liquid mineral pockets, usually introduced by erosion. Several attempts have been made by alchemists to reproduce svelae from diamonds, but so far none have been successful. |
a huge sana'ati heart - Kept a very well-guarded secret until recently by the Rose Sisters of Ain Ghazal, the sana'ati heart is extracted already hardened from living trees as clear amber tinted with red. It is said that the gems are harvested from the spot on the trunk where the branches begin to spread. Old Ain Ghazal legend has it that the Sana'ati Dyaus tree of Leth Deriel has magical sana'ati hearts the size of a person's fist. |
a large glittering eldring - A pale, very light champagne-colored stone that occasionally throws off other colors when turned, this gem is found in the highest reaches of the Seord Kerwaith mountain range. The jewel forms as crystals in icy cavern and pockets, made from the minerals found in the mountaintops. Because it naturally crystallizes into many facets, it is almost never cut, but rather used in its natural state. |
a large green dwalgim - Found at the bottom of large mineral-rich rapids, this gem usually is discovered in small clusters of minerals between stones or boulders, covered in a chalky white substance before it is cut. Harvesting the jewel is extremely hazardous and unreliable at best, so much so that the phrase "chasing the dwalgim" is used to describe someone taking a wild risk to gain wealth. |

Silvyrfrost nods to you and explains, "Using steady, deep breaths, you draw upon your inner strength, focusing your mind and expanding your lungs so that you are better able to vocalize and perform upon wind instruments. Use of this practicing technique is calming, and you will find yourself better able to utilize your abilities afterwards. If you wish to learn this ability, ASK me FOR it." |
Going on, Silvyrfrost says, "However, during your practice you should focus upon what you are doing, and not let yourself get distracted, lest you have to start all over again from the beginning. Bards in times past once performed these exercises to greet each Elanthian dawn, thus renewing their energy to face the day ahead. It is unlikely that you will be able to reap benefits from using these exercises more often than that." |
Silvyrfrost nods to you then signals two journeywomen over to take care of your training. |
You are led to a quiet corner of a storage room that has been scrubbed clean and lined with soft mats. Here you spend a great deal of time learning to sit up straight with your eyes closed, and counting silently to the soft beat of a naqqara as you breathe in, hold your breath, then exhale. Impatience gnaws at you several times in your practice, and you find yourself shifting your position when a leg has fallen asleep, or your head listing to the side more than once. Each time this happens, the nearest journeywoman prods you sharply with the end of her staff, causing you to mutter as you assume the proper position once more. |
After what seems like an eternity, you are able to sustain the breathing exercises for several minutes without too much effort. Nodding in satisfaction, the journeywomen leads you back to Silvyrfrost. |
==Readying Stretch== |
Silvyrfrost nods to you and explains, "Using this routine for stretching, you loosen and limber up the muscles in your body, preparing yourself for physical activity ahead. Stringed and percussive instruments, especially, should pose a bit less of a challenge to you once you have properly stretched first. Use of this practicing technique is calming, and you will find yourself better able to utilize your abilities afterwards. If you wish to learn this ability, ASK me FOR it." |

Bardic Practices
Steadying Breaths
Silvyrfrost nods to you and explains, "Using steady, deep breaths, you draw upon your inner strength, focusing your mind and expanding your lungs so that you are better able to vocalize and perform upon wind instruments. Use of this practicing technique is calming, and you will find yourself better able to utilize your abilities afterwards. If you wish to learn this ability, ASK me FOR it."
It is unlikely that you will be able to reap benefits from using these exercises more often than that."
Readying Stretch
Silvyrfrost nods to you and explains, "Using this routine for stretching, you loosen and limber up the muscles in your body, preparing yourself for physical activity ahead. Stringed and percussive instruments, especially, should pose a bit less of a challenge to you once you have properly stretched first. Use of this practicing technique is calming, and you will find yourself better able to utilize your abilities afterwards. If you wish to learn this ability, ASK me FOR it."
It is unlikely that you will be able to reap benefits from using these exercises more often than that."
Silvyrfrost nods to you, then signals a journeyman over to take care of your training.
The journeyman leads you to a white-walled practice room lined with soft mats where, for several long hours, you spend your time copying his movements as he demonstrates a variety of ways to stretch your body and limber up each of your joints. When you are finally able to repeat the repertoire of movements to his satisfaction, you're sweating and each of your limbs feel like overcooked noodles. You finish feeling confident in your ability to perform any task ahead of you.
You are led back to the main room.
