>>Its not really free if you've already earned them though no?
I suspect that this will come up quite a lot, and I want to clarify early. It is absolutely true that we are taking the time you spent in some skills and essentially forcing you to re-exert a portion of that time to regain the benefits. Nobody is under any impression that the bonus experience pools are actually 'free experience', and nobody should be. However, consider that until the change happens, you will reap the benefits of the time you put in in the ways you expected. After the change happens, the time you put into those skills that are getting combined has turned into banked double experience that you can use to accelerate your circling/skills even faster. This is a more balanced solution than allowing you to place the combined experience wherever you want. I'd rather not go into it here (it took weeks of research, simulation, balancing, etc to come to this conclusion, and I don't feel like writing a thesis), and it's really the best way to pay you back for the skills you've spent time on. >>...get those tdp's. I know, it's not going to be a one-to-one thing but it seems like I'm more likely to lose some if I don't do this. Most people will not be losing TDPs, I don't think. Also, we're going to be refiguring *everybody's* tdps, so there's really no way to game the system by sneaking in tdp earning now. Focusing on circling won't really get you TOO much benefit (if any at all). The redesigned guild requirements won't really look that different, and it's unclear whether or not we'll need to bring ANY ranks up to an at-circle level at this time. Your best bet really is to just train like you normally have, because that's the scenario we've made sure will be as beneficial to you as possible. Trying to game the system will very likely end up with no effect (And thus wasted effort) or skewing your skills in some way that's not that useful. >>wouldn't I be MORE effective if I had just stopped training ME and focused on LE? Maybe, but considering that as long as you can maintain 2/34 learning state you're learning optimally, chances are pretty good that you were training both at the same time, and thus wouldn't have benefited at all from only training one of them (since instead, you had two that were actively learning at once). Consider also that the time you're spending on ME instead of LE is effectively translating directly into LE ranks as you continue to train SE after the change. >>Because Backstabbing is on the same page, that it doesn't cover the same thing, could it get called Ambushing or something of that nature, because Thieves use it for well Ambushing attacks. Maybe. The guild-only skills have the highest chance of changing names. >>Because if TDPs are draining out with those ranks, then this pretty much feels like a giant kick in the face. Guys, stop talking about what TDPs mean after the combination. The landscape there is very different, and we are aware that you have earned TDPs by training skills and do not want to lose them. The TDP post will happen as I get the final bits and pieces of that nailed down, but please don't start an uproar about something you know nothing about. | |
