Tuesday Tidings - 114 - Rent A Forge · on 04/26/2022 18:38 1944
Happy Tuesday, folks! I have loads of words to share, so buckle up!

This week, we're expanding the Crossing Forging Society with personal forges that you can rent! We've heard the concerns of others coming in and messing with stuff you were working on and the crowding in general at certain times. These personal forges should help with both! These are based on the same mechs that B&E uses to spin up and reserve temporary areas (shoutout to Javac for making those reusable by other systems!).

NOTE: Before you run off to explore, know that there is no confirmation on renting a forge. If you try to enter the newly added doors, and have the coins on you, you will be charged and given a forge that lasts for an hour! You can also STUDY the door to see what your fee (at that moment) would be, as well as some additional information.

The fee is based on your forging skill. There's a minimum of 1 gold enforced, and the max is around 3 platinum. BUT, there are also discounts for Platinum, Premium and Citizenship within the area. (If you are a bad citizen, you could see a markup!) These are designed so that we can add them to any forging society going forward, but this initial release is for Zoluren, Crossing specifically.

You can come and go as you like from your private forge, so long as the rent is active. You are able to lead groups within, but only you can access it. If someone from your group leaves and tries to come back, they're instead going to be charged and spin up their own private forge. If 1 hour is not enough time, at any point during the rental you can head back out to the society and MARK the doors to signal you want to extend it by another hour; you will be charged.

You'll be messaged when there are ~10 minutes, ~5 minutes and ~1-2 minutes remaining. When the timer expires, anyone inside will be ejected from the personal forge back to the forging society where they entered. Any items left will be dumped *on the ground* -- we can't guarantee such items would be the renter's since groups can come in, so we do not put the items at anyone's feet. Standard rules apply -- if you don't want to lose it, don't leave it lying around. Don't try to tempt the clock -- if you have something in-process, it's going to get dumped, too!

Thanks to Ulerith for the area description and to Paklin for the quick QC! You can find "some broad stone doors" in the 'Supplies' room of the Crossing Forging Society in all instances. Let us know if you run into any quirks!

I don't know the specifics off hand, but it uses the same mechanics that the old style catalog shops use and the more modern ezshop ones (with a clerk messaging) do. It is old, but is capped so that the bonus/markup can be 10% discount up to 15% markup.

I seem to have forgotten it in the release, but you get these as part of the private forge:

a waste bucket
a pile of fuel
an ingot cutter
a granite crucible
an iron anvil
a slack tub
a grindstone
a glowing forge
and the doors leading back out
