Sayings

Lakyan's face lights up in an overexaggerated expression of joy. "Oh madam! You want to know about ME?" He launches right into the tale.

"I know I dont look much like a smith or tanner. Truth is I dont do well with this work. I like to give the locals a chance for an extra bit of coin by helping out with the bits I'm not great at."

He continues, "My cousin captained a ship, just a small thing used for family trade mostly. He saw my talent with the strings and story telling early on. As a lad, I stayed around the docks to amuse the crew while they worked."

"My cousin provided transportation to any who paid his fee. One passenger many years ago was a traveling bard. He called down from the ship while I was in the middle of some great tale or another. I was less than pleased to be interrupted, to say the least." Lakyan huffs.

He returns to his spirited, smiling tale. "I'm glad of it now, mind you. He introduced me to others -- the tavern crowd, the traveling groups, those who stay locked away within the guilds and all manner of others. I knew my calling, and it wasn't to sit around the docks any longer."

Lakyan says, "Well, excluding now anyways. I did my training. I was actually supposed to just be a passenger on this trip. I'd asked my cousin to take me to Ratha. His ship wasn't much, and it was desperation on the Council's part to have taken the Azure Gale to transport their wares. A mighty festival that would have been." He gazes off into the distance before saying, "You know that tale."

Lakyan says confidently, "With you all having found us, I suppose one of these days I'll visit Ratha to see of my talents are still desired. At the very least, I've a partial payment for work never done that should be returned. I'm an honest man, if nothing else."

Lakyan's Apprentice

An apprentice repairman whistles a tune you're sure you've heard Lakyan humming before. Noticing your attention, he blushes. "It's catchy," he says.
