Rhoran, a Kaldar.
He has a square face, wide-set leaf-green eyes and a freckled nose. He has cropped mouse brown-streaked ginger hair, with tanned skin and a brawny build.
He is slightly under average height for a Kaldar.
He appears to be young.

He is wearing a pilgrim's badge, a lumpy bundle, a small steel skinning knife with a leather-wrapped hilt, some metal scale gloves, a metal target shield, a metal chain balaclava, an etched steel parry stick with black leather straps, some rugged leathers, an embossed sword belt with a steel broadsword and an iron-studded nightstick hanging from it, a cloth-of-gold baldric clasped with an onyx scorpion, a green leather belt quiver embroidered with intricate Gypsy knotwork, an oilcloth rucksack, a jadeite gwethdesuan, a black spidersilk lootsack clasped with a platinum dragon, a deeply cowled cloak with a heavy austere mantle, a dark thornweave messenger bag with weathered onyx-hide straps, a rugged pilgrim's satchel crafted from oiled leather with polished silver buckles, a rugged leather thigh bag with copper-riveted straps, a soft gem pouch, a darkened metal lockpick case, an oilcloth long pouch, a weathered pouch with patches of lightly scorched leather, a dark green leather thigh pouch branded with a stylized dragon, a wide leather utility belt with steel accents, some thick hiking boots with polished brass buckles, some dark brown woolen socks, an undyed linen shirt with rolled cuffs held by leather tabs and some pliant doeskin trousers side-stitched in sinew.

Background

Born and raised in the Crossing, Rhoran was exposed to a variety of beliefs and teachings from an early age. Normally, this upbringing has resulted in Kaldar that worship the traditional Kermorian Gods. However, his father held little love for any deity and gave his devotion only to the Wilds, the Rangers and his family. When pressed, however, he would pay some lip-service to the Akrian teaching's version of the 13.

Rhoran's mother, on the other hand, was descended from Kaldar who were unusually devoted to the "old ways". They scoffed at the teaching of Akrian Dein and the "weak" Kermorian Gods. She was a fierce Barbarian who chaffed at the "soft" and "weak" ways of the Kermorians and often spoke of trying to return to the Empire.

Raised alongside Rhoran were his two younger sisters. They each took after his mother strongly and held little love for their home in the Crossing. When his youngest sister turned five, his father was out on a ranging when his mother decided to take the children and return to Albaria. Rhoran, age 14, decided to remain behind for his father. That decision saved his life, though he would not know it for two more years.

Eventually, Rhoran chose a path apart from either of his parents: that of a Cleric.

Devotion

Rhoran has developed a unique perspective and somewhat unorthodox personal belief system. He draws no distinction between the gods of the Alaudian Pantheon and the Kermorian Gods; he believes the 13 are simply aspects of the Alaudian gods. His personal beliefs and priorities have focused his attentions on the line between life and death, and maintaining the sanctity of that division. His beliefs are frowned upon by most Clerics as having little basis in known teachings or beliefs, and to some degree flying in the face of them.

  • Primarily serves Orisas, Goddess of Spirit.
    • He seeks to ensure that all Kaldar/Gorbesh souls safely reach the Kaneija.
  • Believes Urrem'tier (the Akrian version) is simply another face of Orisas.
    • Urrem'tier collects non-Gorbesh souls to the "Halls of the Dead" - a place much like the Kaneija.
  • Offers devotion to Alamhif and Berengaria for their creation of the Bridge of Life.
    • He believes this is a way to allow mortals to return to life in order to grow, learn, and prove their worthiness to enter the Kaneija.
  • He obtains favors in Urrem'tier's name.
    • Despite favors not being granted by the Alaudian Pantheon, he believes it is necessary to obtain them for a time to better serve Orisas.
