As my schedule has notably improved and more behind the scenes work gets resolved I'm planning for us to see an uptick in Moon Mage events. As such, I thought I'd provide a short primer to help people understand what's going on. This is not meant to be at all comprehensive, just a starting place.

The Mirror Wraith Prophecy:
A sprawling event that took place about fifty years ago (In game). The extremely short version is that Tezirah was trapped on the Plane of Probability (Or something that passes for Tezirah, the Progeny debate this point) and managed to trick just about everyone into going along with a Rube Goldbergian scheme to free herself. The Moon Mage Guild was nearly destroyed, the council shattered, the sects started to pull away from the Guild but in the end Tezirah was confronted on Taisgath and forced back to the Plane of Probability.

While many events have followed, this fundamentally sets the stage for where the guild is, politically, today - the council disbanded and Taramaine ruling with singular authority.

The Children of Kalestraum:
Lead by Karosti Kalestraum, they trace their heritage back to the Saesordian Cabal (the sect the Progeny split from). They have waged a guerrilla war against the Moon Mage Guild for decades in an attempt to rectify centuries-old grievances. They are known for their extensive use and study of sorcery, the revival of Teleological Sorcery, and the destruction of the Throne City/Taisgath turtle.

Cast of Characters:
Taramaine - Grandmaster/Guildmaster Prime of the Moon Mage Guild. He is old, powerful, arrogant and has enjoyed not sharing power with the council for the last several decades.

Mortom - Shard Guildleader, prominent member of the Progeny of Tezirah. He is intelligent, sly and manipulative. He's known as a master artificer and faked his death as part of the the Mirror Wraith Prophecy, leaving the guild in Gylwyn's control for a time.

Gylwyn - Haven's beautiful Guildleader. How she still controls a guild with her murky history is anyone's guess. (See: Mirror Wraith Prophecy)

Tiv - The Lesser Fist's Guildleader. He is a member of the Monks of the Crystal Hand and has acted as a mentor to several generations of Moon Mages.

Kssarh - Crossing's Guildleader. A member of the Celestial Compact. He was a student of Tiv and is generally a friendly fellow.

Lomtaun - Taisgath's Guildleader. He most closely associates with Fortune's Path and is known for his skill with moonblades. He is the guardian of the last obelisk.

Cherulisa - The Guildleader of the Trabe Plateau. She is the leader of the tribes and another student of Tiv.

Tozu - Mortom's apprentice. Though they share a knack for artifice, they do not always see eye to eye and Tozu is outspoken in his dislike of sorcery and Taramaine's abuse of power.

Raelyka - A relatively new character on the scene, she is a friend and fellow student of Tozu and a moderately renowned scholar.

Karosti - Leader of the Children. He is very powerful and very ruthless. Messing with him is a bad idea.

Everelles, Xailes, and Ealuik - Karosti's Scions.

Edantu, Hhstin, Olandern, Tressoth, and Wyren - Known (living) votaries. Essentially the redshirts of the Children.

Pelag ai Aldam - A powerful entity from the Plane of Probability. He's known for murdering people in the Ways.

Abyssal Child, Emperor of the Line, Arbiter in Darkness, and Entropy's Glory - Other powerful entities from the Plane of Probability of which less is generally known.

A few recent events of some note:
Hhstin was found poking around the Taisgath obelisk. Lomtaun removed him and improved the security of the island.

Tozu, at the direction of Mortom, recovered a Grazhir shard (which is now located in Fang Cove). During this time it was clear that there is a growing tension between Taramine and Mortom, and Tozu seems to be stuck between them.

Strange signs have appeared around The Wolf. While many have speculated on their meaning, no clear answer has arisen.

As events progress would people like more summary posts like this? Or would you prefer to leave it to just learning through other players and IG events?
