The CONVERT command is used in DragonRealms 3.0 to move Mechanical Lore experience over to the crafting skills. Mechanical Lore is being replaced with the new crafting skills as they are released.
CONVERT has no function in DR 2.0.
Syntax
CONVERT MECH INTO [SKILL] {SKILL} {SKILL}
Splits your Mech ranks into a crafting skill. You may perform a split into each of the new crafting skills one time only. You can specify MECHANICAL if you want to leave a portion of your ranks in your Mech Lore.
You may specify one, two, or three skills to be included in the split.
Your Mech Lore experience will be split evenly between the specified SKILL parameters. Skills may be listed more than once to adjust the weighting of the conversion.
Currently available crafting skills are:
When the Alchemy skill and the Enchanting skill are released, they will become valid targets for conversion.
Usage
After entering the command, you will be asked to confirm. This message will also inform you as to how many ranks you will be converting. This will let you experiment with how many ranks you want to convert.

It is important to remember that conversions into each skill can only be done once! Once you confirm converting ranks into one of the new crafting skills, you can never put more ranks into that skill using the CONVERT command.
Note also that if Mechanical Lore was used as one of your Lore skills for determining circle, after conversion you will have significantly fewer Mech Lore ranks, and this could require backtraining a different skill in order to circle again.
Examples
- CONVERT MECH INTO FORGING -- This will transfer all of your current Mechanical Lore skill into the new Forging skill. While you may be able to learn more Mech Lore afterwards, you will not be allowed to convert it into Forging again.
- CONVERT MECH INTO CARVING FORGING -- This will convert 1/2 of your Mech into Carving, and 1/2 into Forging. While you may be able to learn additional Mech skill afterwards, you will not be allowed to convert it into Forging or Carving.
- CONVERT MECH INTO ENGINEERING ENGINEERING MECHANICAL -- Two-thirds of your remaining Mech skill will be converted into Engineering and 1/3 will remain in Mech Lore. Subsequently, you will no longer be able to move any Mech into Engineering.
