Velmix Strawn
Status: Alive
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Location: Unknown
Type: undead
Associates: Grishnok, Jomay, Sithsia, Sidhlot

Velmix Strawn is considered to be a powerful human necromancer.

During his first visit, in 356, he recruited elves to form an army for "The One and True King", presumably Teiro. It is of note that at the Necropolis in Aesry Surlaenis'a, there is a headstone that marks the gravesite of one "Velmix Strawn, born 199 years after the Victory of Lanival the Redeemer, died 225 years AtV." This perhaps is the source of the rumor that Velmix rose from his own grave.

He uses a raven familiar that talks in rhymes, gave prophecy regarding Teiro returning.

(1999/2000) Moon mages reported that Velmix was seen in Sorrow's Keep along with Sidhlot and Sithsia.

More recently (2003) was associated with Grishnok, Jomay, and others in attacking the five provinces, see Outcast War.

March 2003, disabled the Turtles used by Moon Mages.

Unique spells/attacks/abilities:

Body gives off lightning when killed, then disappears.
Green Fog (poison)
Can tear off a finger and cause scourges to appear.
Points at target and cases them to speak gibberish and hinders all spell casting abilities.

Velmix Strawn

Velmix is an utterly nasty individual. His actual goal is unknown and he may not be a direct part of the upcoming war...but he will be there, walking his own path. He is well versed in the Necromantic arts. His array of abilities is quite impressive. He can garble your speech beyond recognition by pointing at you, often for several hours(makes 'Shadowling Traps' look like a cakewalk). He can bite off a finger, which will form into a rotting scourge. He can summon a deadly poison fog, even from afar. He can summon a velver from the palm of his hand. He can steal a portion of your soul with a mere point. He can rip your heart out, still beating. It should also be noted he can most likely summon other forms of undead. Velmix is rarely seen without his staff, which gives him the ability to turn invisible. Upon death, his corpse will explode, so be wary when he falls. While I cannot confirm it, I have heard he gains some form of control over those he steals spirit from. Hearts ripped out are most commonly eaten, Grishnok's being an exception. He may or may not be allied with Jourok, Jomay etc. but he HAS helped them on occaision. A poetry-reciting raven follows him. Whether or not it is his, it is linked to him.

You see Velmix Strawn, a Human.
He has black eyes. His black hair is long and fine, and is worn tied back. He has tanned skin. He is middle-aged for a Human.
He is in good shape.

He is holding a smoke colored staff topped with an obsidian raven in his right hand. He is wearing a raven charm, an emblazoned tower shield, a sturdy silver backpack, a black weapon's harness, a great helm shaped to resemble the head of a snarling dog, some black riding boots, an onyx stud, a cambrinth ring, a corded claymore sheath, a silver earring, some gleaming silver-white plate, a jadeite gwethdesuan and a kyanite gwethdesuan.

Velmix bites off one of his fingers and spits it upon the ground! Almost instantly a rotting scourge sprouts from the dismembered digit!

Velmix points at you. "Err...hey now... You say, "vmheeqwt dve qh."

A velver suddenly emerges from Velmix's open palm, and leaps to the ground!

A green-tinted fog rolls in. You can't help but inhale a bit of the fog. You feel a tickle in the back of your throat.

Velmix extends his hand to you, reaching into your very soul! You feel your life force ebb! You are stunned!

Velmix turns the raven on his staff and disappears in a flash of light!

Velmix punches through Paschein's ribcage and rips out her heart!

Weird rituals, 12 November 2003

[Rroht] "Grishnok is unconscious...what's the deal with that?"
[Scandi] "Where is he unconscious at?"
[Rroht] "A place called Irasushen, Pier."
[Elsulose] "who put de hole in his chest?"
[Rroht] "The Dawnsinger is within shooting distance...maybe the ship?"
[Nubpot] "'Jomay or someone did...I don't remember the name exactly"
[Anlise] "Velmix took his heart and gave it to Jomay not long ago."
(it is believed that this ritual changed Grishnok in some creepy way)

Description of Velmix from Dreamheart

Submitted: 22 February 1999
Velmix Up to Old Tricks
by Dreamheart Delaevan
(The Provinces: 3 Akroeg 357)

Years ago, the name of Velmix was whispered in certain quarters as he stealthily tried to raise an army for "The One and True King." This gave way to the rumors of the resurfacing of the dead elven Lord Teiro, since Velmix was attempting to garner the support and loyalty of elves.

I am unaware of any direct reference by Velmix to any name, let alone Teiro. But I am not elven, and was not approached. There are those elders in the Realms who could probably say for sure and help sort out the facts from the rumors which were rampant during that awful time.

Now suddenly Velmix has resurfaced, and is once again recruiting specifically elves for "The One and True King." According to some sources who held some conversations with him, he is doing this to raise an army and reclaim the land back to those it belongs to. He still communicates through his raven familiar at times, just as he was said to have done years ago.

If you happen upon him, he is dangerous, and his staff seems to make some poisonous dust or smoke or gas. He was seen near at least one of those awful Goblin invasions west of the Crossing last week.

To further add to this mystery, Alishana reports that at the Necropolis in Aesry Surlaenis'a, there is a headstone that marks the gravesite of one "Velmix Strawn, born 199 years after the Victory of Lanival the Redeemer, died 225 years AtV."

Raven Poetry

The following are verses that were recited at various times. Unfortunately some dates are missing.

Khamman says, "Raven dark and thin, tell me that days are grim. Sing me the name of a king before your master makes you take wing."

The thin raven squawks, "He rules the land by deed and right, His word is true, His presence light. To speak His name, you should know, pick up the histories and read it so"

Khaman tried in several ways to get a less cryptic answer:

The thin raven squawks, "The One, The True, He seeks you to follow; what is right, not what is hollow. He rests in mountain, slumbers in stone--when the time is right He will return home "

The thin raven squawks, "The lands are broken, split asunder; the bastard Lanival's work and plunder. He will return to set it right, by peace, or force you will feel His might"

The thin raven squawks, "Those of blood, true and sweet, shall sit at His Lord's feet, those that live and deserve Him not, may journey north and recieve their lot"

The thin raven squawks, "I must go, feed I seek, if such graceful wings I wish to keep. Remember my caw and call to you, follow what you know is True"

(4/22/03)

A thin raven recites:

"The goblin dies
The raven flys
The time of one does soon arrive.
A voice from the past
A healer of ages past
Returns to walk the lands
Your heads will be in her hands."

A thin raven recites:

"Mock as you will
Your time of ill
Your blood for the feeders will be their fill."

A thin raven recites:

"The master rests
My voice is the crest
You will heed me
It is the time of blood
And you will see."

A thin raven recites:

"The army of the past
The king will last
He will rise once more
And your bones he will gore."

8/21/03 - visions and voice from the shadows.

Paschein - the following transpired in my yard while I was alone.

Your mind swirls in a kaleidoscope of images sending you into a dark crypt. Several images appear to be covering a body with a crimson shroud. A chanting in a tongue that seems older than time itself is heard eminating from the walls. As you observe the ritual, you are thrust forward to what appears to be a resurrection. You notice that something went terribly wrong and the spirit and corporeal body were separated in some horrid mishap. Moments later, bodies lie near the crypt laying in a perfect circular pattern. As you gaze up from the shock, you realize a dark figure turn towards you. The figure draws closer and before you can react a pair of hands surround your neck. You awake feeling somewhat drained and sweating profusely.

Shortly after I took a stroll around town, and discovered at least one other person had received the same vision. Others spoke of a crimson pool of blood that looked like a raven.

I wandered back to my yard for some quiet again alone, when the following occured.

The ground begins to tremble slightly.
> A darkened substance rises from the dirt.

As I searched around for the source I heard the following

You hear a voice recite from the shadows:

"There are those that are food,
And those that will feed,
All others will forever bleed.
The song of the raven has been sung,
The time of the true one has now begun.
Plans within plans, and plots within plots,
The corpse of those fallen will shrivel and rot.
Believe if you will, it matters not,
For in the end, you will fear what the true King brought."

The thin raven squawks,

"Peace we'll have when He returns,
the One and True King you will learn.
Bow before him and you shall see,
a life of joy will return to ye".

The thin raven squawks,

"He rules the land by deed and right,
His word is true, His presence light.
To speak His name, you should know,
pick up the histories and read it so".
