This wasn't functioning the way it was supposed to be. Subscribers' hidden items absolutely should have been hidden; it was the free folks' items that should remain visible (even with a hider) unless the pass was active. This is now fixed.

>I think the free chatter should be toggle-able for anyone who wants to help, not just mentors.

CHATTER with a population the size of prime's, even with people opting out, can get overwhelming fast. GMs monitor gweths game-wide, and THAT gets busy at times. CHATTER is meant to be a low level, new player help tool, and we don't want to risk it turning into "global OOC gweths" where people coordinate meetups and are generally disruptive. We know there are a lot of good players who would love to help out, but the mentors, hosts and GMs have special tools and training that make assisting the new folks easier, without it being so overwhelmingly noisy that it's unusable. Global gweths have been discussed in the past, and it's a possibility some day (plat has them), but that would be separate from CHATTER.

>Is that bad? (gweths being global default chatter)

Yes, for the reasons listed above.

>I'll just make a free that works too.

We can't stop folks from doing this, but please keep the above in mind. Staff and mentors should primarily be the ones helping, and if someone is disruptive, we can and will remove the ability.
