Notes

  • Although the mana cap of each cast is 66, the spell does stack beyond that. Each cast of 66 provides about 30 minutes of shielding. The PERCEIVE command only shows durations of up to two anlaen (1 real-life hour), but the real cap for shield duration is more than an hour and a half.
  • The Multiple Ethereal Shields effect (i.e. the shield expanding to also cover members of your group at the time of casting) begins taking place without fail at 230 ranks of Primary Magic skill.
  • Adds a minor bonus to Parry Ability skill and Shield skill.
  • Protects against all offensive spells and several nasty spell side effects such as casting an Electric spell in water. A discharged shield is really effective against electricity, while a charged ES is great against all elements except electricity. Non-elemental spells aren't affected very much, but elemental sorceries (including some Necromancies and Blackfire) are reduced a great deal. In most situations the reduction isn't much to write home about, but in the situations where it's effective it can severely blunt the potency of a spell.
  • Compatible with the Pattern Hues cantrip.
  • With the release of the Analogous Patterns Spellbook, this spell can now be chosen at 1st circle.
