The rugged and arid Gemfire Mountains surround the Velaka Desert. The mountains were first settled by Dwarven explorers from Kwarlog, whereupon they established the now Therengian-controled town of Hvaral. The mountains are jagged, and suffer from the same desert heat as Velaka. Several mines are the only known source of the Zenith Spinel.
