Syntax
- HOLD <PERSON>
- Takes the person's hand and makes that person follow you as a member of your group. The result can be blocked by the target's AVOID settings, and the messaging depends on the DEMEANOR and BEFRIEND settings of both participants.
- This is the only accepted form for hand-holding. Phrasings such as HOLD HAND <person> or HOLD HANDS WITH <person> are not parsed and return Hold hands with whom? followed by the usage message.
- HOLD <WORN ITEM>
- Acts as REMOVE for the item, moving it from its worn location into a free hand. Item-specific removal restrictions and messaging still apply.
Game Helpfile
USAGE:
HOLD [person]
Allows one player to form a group by holding another player's hand, subject to
specific checks one of which are the AVOID settings. Messaging is dependent on
both DEMEANOR and BEFRIEND options.
Related Verb: JOIN, GROUP
Notes
- The hand-holding form makes the target follow the character using HOLD; it does not make the character using HOLD follow the target.
- A person who is already following someone cannot be added this way. You must also leave your current group before using HOLD to lead another group.
- Tender hand-holding messaging can vary with the relationship and demeanor of the participants. Mutual spouses receive the longer embrace message.
- Very inexperienced characters may receive: You are not experienced enough to do this yet.
- The worn-item form uses the same messaging as REMOVE, including the item's own removal messaging.
