Description

You have a series of razor-thin scars along the jawline and electrifying Xibar-blue eyes.  Your silver-gilt-streaked white hair is very long and fine with both sides shaved at the temple, and is worn in a simple, pulled-back style held in place by a knotted length of blackened deathfiber.  You have a ghastly mixture of chalky white bone ash streaked with soot smeared across his pale skin and a pair of stout leather weapon straps with kertig rivets crisscrossing an athletic build.

You are of commanding height for a Kaldar.

You have some carved wooden togball-shaped beads dangling from a long shaped beard.

Your shoulder has a tattoo of a whirlwinding Kaldar barbarian marauding through a corpse-filled battlefield scarred by magical destruction.  His body is scorched and battered, yet enveloped in a brilliant aura of flames that burns outwards at twice his height.  Stylized depictions of elemental lightning, starlight spheres, holy bolts, and arcane drops of bile-green acid assault him, mostly being deflected by his volcanic aura.

Branded along the corner of your right eye and through your eyebrow is a puckered scar in the shape of a dragon's tail flail.  Thinner lines create the trio of interlocking chains that crisscross down your cheek.

History

• 357-373 (Childhood's End): Born to a Kaldar migrant family in Dirge. Malkien grew up in a city steeped in brutality and practical survival needs. The volcano nearby was more than a childhood fascination; its unpredictable violence became a personal metaphor for his own path — strength rooted in primal fury. His parents instilled in him traditional Kaldaran values of honor, clan loyalty, and reverence for the 13 gods, but he latched onto Everild, god of Battle, as the truest embodiment of what it meant to live and die with purpose.
• 373–393 (Barbarian's Oath): Malkien’s traditional Kaldar values direct him to join the Barbarian guild. A veteran of the Lyras conflict and raised by parents who survived the Sorrow War, he develops an almost religious conviction that mortal dependence on magic - particularly sorcery, and especially necromancy - invites ruin. Ever pragmatic as his cultural forebears, he accepts the potential benefits of some magic, such as enchanted weapons or gwethdesuans - but those who wielded such power were to be watched closely.
• 393-414 (Conflicted Loyalties): The second Gorbesh invasion shook him. His blood tied him to the Kaldar and Gorbesh peoples, yet his oaths bound him to Therengia and to his guild.This conflict hardened him, tempering his sense of identity: Malkien came to believe that his true loyalty was not simply to a land or a people, but to the defense of all Elanthia against outside invasion or corruption - particularly against threats invited by the hubris of mages and sorcerers meddling with other planes.
• 414 - 441 (Rise to Leadership): Malkien's diligence leads him to joining the Northern Watch, and in 441, he is appointed Lieutenant of Combat One, the heavy combat wing of Therengia's unofficial military order. It was validation that his life of scars and struggles had purpose. He swore an oath to defend Therengia against necromancers, sorcerers, the Ravens, and all threats both domestic and foreign.
• 442: The discovery of Ephemera lead him to vow to discover their mysteries, and to become Ephemera Kermorian League Champion some day.

• Being voted 'Most Handsomest Kaldar' by a panel of himself.
• Hunting flex westies to extinction and still not having enough money for a boat.
• Single-handedly repelling a goblin invasion by lining the walls of The Crossing with soap suds.
• Enslaving Kemosiris to a life of delicious sandwich-making.
  • After being enslaved for so long, Kemosiris finally escapes after distracting Malkien by having him look at a bug under a moving caravan.
