Relight
Abbreviation: -
Prerequisites: Must be Redeemed, Emuin's Candlelight
Signature: Yes
Spell Slots: 2
Mana Type: Arcane Magic
Spell Type: metamagic / -
Description: Relight is a spell of second chances. There are times when the candle may seem heavier than one can carry, its price unbearable. With this spell you may purify your Candlelight and turn over a clean new leaf.
Effect: cleanses damage stored by Emuin's Candlelight, increases damage capacity of Emuin's Candlelight
Example Messaging: CAST:

You clench your fists, pressing your fingernails painfully into your flesh.
When you reopen them, a benign candlelight falls across your palms, though there is no flame. You are pervaded by indistinctly sweet memories as well as a presentiment of peril.

RELIGHT (with stored damage):
Dim, orange firelight coruscates before your eyes, and you sink into a smoky memory not of your own.
A door slowly swings open, rusty hinges protesting loudly, and you stride through, limping slightly and head held high. You find yourself in a softly lit chapel, candles casting dancing shadows along the walls. At your entrance, the muted sounds of birds nesting in the rafters fall silent, all eyes on you.
Afterward, you are yourself again, purified and absolved from the pain that would have parched you.

RELIGHT (with no stored damage):
There is nothing for Relight to cleanse!

RELIGHT CHECK (Fully charged, no damage stored):
In your hands lies the undiminished power of Relight.

Emuin's Candlelight is yet heatless.

RELIGHT CHECK (1 charge, damage stored):
Your Relight pattern is sufficiently ready but diminished, which should be remedied in about fourteen roisaen.

You forefeel that the oncoming heat of Emuin's Candlelight will singe your flesh.

RELIGHT CHECK (no charges left, no damage stored):
Your Relight pattern is spent, which should be partially remedied in about ten roisaen.

Emuin's Candlelight is yet heatless.

Devices/Tattoos: No devices or tattoos documented.

Notes

RELIGHT - cleanse the damage stored by Emuin's Candlelight
RELIGHT CHECK - display your charge and cooldown status.
  • The spell has 2 charges and regains 1 charge every 15 minutes. However, cooldown will be paused if EMC is not active and your reactor slots are otherwise in use.
  • Since the stored damage can persist beyond Emuin's Candlelight ending, these actions still function whether Emuin's Candlelight is active or not.
  • As a secondary effect, knowing this spell will greatly increase how much damage Emuin's Candlelight can store.
  • Usable while hidden, webbed, or immobile.
  • There is variable messaging when using RELIGHT to cleanse stored damage. The first and third lines about entering and exiting the memory are always the same, but the middle line about the memory itself will be randomly chosen from this (as yet incomplete) list:
  • A door slowly swings open, rusty hinges protesting loudly, and you stride through, limping slightly and head held high. You find yourself in a softly lit chapel, candles casting dancing shadows along the walls. At your entrance, the muted sounds of birds nesting in the rafters fall silent, all eyes on you.
  • Quailing at what you almost remember, you turn back from the horrors you refuse to relive.
  • Torch in hand, you squint with your one eye as you proceed down a dark corridor. There are several, unnaturally large insects of different kinds in retreat, but they cannot outrun you. Taking a prayerful breath, you torch them all.
