Who Am I...The Beginning

To know who I am, we must go back...
...back to the beginning...
...back to where it all began...
...back to where I began

The Wheel turned, and a soul was delivered to one who was about to be born.

I was born on a cold morning, to a mother on the run. Wounded by the Undead that got through the Barrier, my Mother ran for as long as her legs could carry her before she collapsed. It was then and there that I was born. It was then and there that my Mother died. The Wheel traded one life for another. The Wheel will turn, and my Mother's soul will return again, but until then, she will rest. If not for a S'kra Ranger named Crystalmyth, The Wheel would have reclaimed my spirit. I owe everything to my adopted father. It was he that raised me, although he did not know what a young Prydaen Kit would need to grow up. He told me stories about the lands outside our small house in the wildlands. I say house, but in reality it was more of a hut or a shack. We never had much, but we always had what we needed. Food, clean drinking water, clothes, warmth, shelter...what else is needed?

Throughout the years of growing up I studied what books and papers my Father had in the house, but there wasn't much there. My childhood was simple and safe, filled with learning and playing. There were times during those early years that I felt something was missing...something wasn't complete, so I asked questions and learned about everything that my Father knew.

I learned from my father all about the guilds and the other races, I learned to hunt and to take care of myself. I learned that we must never fear the wilds. I grew up with several constant companions, one, my protector, was a pure white wolf named Ghost. Ghost accompanied me everywhere, keeping an eye on me for father, I know that now, but I never feared anything when Ghost was near. After years growing up in the wilds, with no one but Father and Ghost to talk to, I found I needed to understand my past, and staying at home was not the answer to that. I needed to find others.

Others like me.

Prydaen.

Who Am I...Recent Years

Using an old trail map of my Father's, I left one brisk morning. I had said my goodbyes and packed for the trip before the sun rose over the horizon. A Ranger Trail is safe, for this I was very thankful since all around our home were dangerous creatures and animals. Father said that when I left I would be on my own, but I swore I caught glimpses of white fur shadowing me as I walked. Miles and miles passed on those trails, but after many anlas I finally arrived at a well-traveled road, and by the caravans that were traveling down it, it must have been the Northern Trade Route that my Father had mentioned in my youth.

Turning South, I walked for several more anlas. The longer I walked, the more people I saw traveling with me. So many people headed to the same place, this concept was alien to me. Yes, my Father spoke of all the people he met in his travels, but I never knew they would all live so congested in one area. My first glimpse of the City of Crossing was almost too much for my mind to bear. Tall walls stretched on as far as my eyes could see, and such noise coming from through the gate...How can one CHOOSE to live in these conditions? It took a little effort to get up the courage to step through those massive gates, but once I did, everything changed...

City Life is fast paced and hectic, but it is what I need. My ears twitched at every noise, my senses overwhelmed by the sights and smells...even the TASTE of the air was different...spices and aromas wafted from the local restaurants and food carts and mingled with the dust from the road. Stopping at a local beverage vendor, I quenched my thirst with a local brew and asked for directions around town. I was told that the best place to gather information would be either the local Ranger Guild or the Infirmary. With everything that was going on, I was feeling somewhat lightheaded so I decided to head to the Infirmary.

Walking into the large building is itself a shock, a structure dedicated to healing is beyond my concept up to this point. Looking around I see many people of all races waiting in line to be healed by the healers that are on duty at the moment, so I get in line and wait my turn. As I wait in line, a strong tenor voice breaks into song up near the front of the line. There, on the floor between two patients sat a Bard, singing his songs to the injured while they wait. When I get to the front of the line, I am quite happy to realize that the Empath I am about to see is also a Prydaen like me, only several years younger. Her name is Khatlyne and she and I speak for a long time, becoming fast friends. When it comes time for me to leave the infirmary, I realize that I have yet to decide on my profession.

I step outside and wander the streets aimlessly, when I stop and look around, there is a small building in front of me, quiet music emanates from within. I know what I want to do, and so I open the door and step inside. Before me stands a lovely Elven woman, and I confidently step up to her and without hesitation declare my desire to become a Bard. Silvyrfrost spends long hours teaching me the basics of the Bardic Ways and at long last, I emerge from my training as a Fledgling Bard. I learn from Silvyrfrost the requirements for advancement and many abilities and Enchantes (Bardic Magic), but find that I know little else about what it means to be a good Bard.

Sitting in the Infirmary with my new friend Khatlyne, I spot the Bard that I heard singing earlier, and introduce myself to him. This man volunteers to become my Mentor, and his name is Ticrit of Pack Augstawne Girene Dzirta.

Who Am I...Discovering the Triquetra

Over the next several months, I trained hard to advance as a Bard, and sought Favor with Glythtide, becoming more and more at ease with the Eastern Immortals. But something was wrong...The Eastern Immortals were not the Gods of my people...They were not right for me.
