NOTE: At least as of 8/24/2020, Ilithi citizenship did NOT protect me from being kidnapped, so the parenthetical comment above is not currently correct. This happened on a high level character, so the circle/skill protection seems to also no longer be valid. It's possible this is a bug. |

There are four ways to enter Undershard. First is to be kidnapped at night while loitering on the streets of Shard (Ilithi citizens are protected from this). Second is to enter through the backroom of Aelik's Pawnshop. The third entry is through an opening under the Bridge of Sparrows. Fourth is to swim north from the shore of the Lake of Tears and enter via the gap.
Kidnapped from the Streets
Randomly, a player can be kidnapped from any of the outdoor rooms of Shard. There is no way to trigger this event, and as you increase in circle and/or overall skill, you will be able to avoid the attempts. If you are taken, you will be teleported into a random room in the Warrens section of UnderShard. You will arrive with a heavy stun.
Kythryn's map of UnderShard matches the first few words of each Warrens room with the location on the map for an easy reference to find your way out.
NOTE: At least as of 8/24/2020, Ilithi citizenship did NOT protect me from being kidnapped, so the parenthetical comment above is not currently correct. This happened on a high level character, so the circle/skill protection seems to also no longer be valid. It's possible this is a bug.
Aelik's Pawn
[Aelik's Pawn, Backroom]
Shelves line the walls, side-by-side with cabinets that hold various oddities and objects that will not fit in the front room being shoved in here instead. Clutter covers nearly every inch of bare space, piling up to the ceiling.
Obvious exits: out.
- LOOK BEHIND CABINET: There is nothing behind there.
- LOOK BEHIND CABINET: Behind the large cabinet you see a hidden ladder.
- CLIMB LADDER: You begin the descent down the hidden ladder....
- You continue your descent into the darkness.
- You slide down the rest of the way, landing with a thump on solid earth.
[Undershard, Secret Nook]
This cramped nook forms the base of a narrow shaft leading straight up, with a rickety wooden ladder stretching up to a trapdoor far above. The nook itself looks to be a dead end, the ladder balanced against a curving wall of sheet rock.
Obvious exits: none.
Bridge of Sparrows
[Shard, Katamba's Crescent Road]
The courtyard of Brickwell Tower stretches beyond the keep's curved archway, the black iron "teeth" of the portcullis gleaming with intended malevolence for any who dare try to cross the pride and joy of the Shard Traders' Guild. Murder holes glare out approximately thirty feet from the base, gazing down upon the Bridge of Sparrows that protects Shard's civilians from one of the water channels that rushes through the city with aimless abandon. You also see a Human juggler.
Obvious paths: southeast, northwest.
- SEARCH: Just under the Bridge of Sparrows you notice a partially concealed channel bank.
- GO BANK
- DOWN
- NORTHEAST
- GO OPENING
- If a sentinel is stationed at the opening (daytime), you'll need Invisibility to move past the guard into the opening. No guards are posted at night.
Lake of Tears
From outside the Shard south gate, climb path into Rock Trolls, then move 1 room west. Go current into the Elsrael hunting area and swim due north 3 times, then go gap. This will put you in a short (3 room) channel with Crocodile hunting, from which you can enter the SW Gallery portion of UnderShard near the ladder from the pawn shop.
