The CONVERT command is used in DragonRealms 3.0 to move Mechanical Lore experience over to the crafting skills. Mechanical Lore is being replaced with the new crafting skills as they are released. CONVERT had no function in DR 2.0.

Syntax

  • CONVERT ### MECH INTO {SKILL}

Converts ### ranks of Mech Lore into the specified crafting skill. You can also substitute ALL for the number of ranks to move all of your mech lore over.

  • CONVERT SPLIT

This will show you how many ranks to convert in order to achieve an even split among 2, 3, 4, or 5 skills.

Currently available crafting skills are:

Forging
Engineering
Outfitting
Alchemy

When the Enchanting skill is released, it will be a valid target for conversion.

Usage

After entering the command, you will be asked to confirm. This message will also inform you as to how many ranks you will be converting. This will let you experiment with how many ranks you want to convert.

It is important to remember that conversions into each skill can only be done once! Once you confirm converting ranks into one of the new crafting skills, you can never put more ranks into that skill using the CONVERT command.

Note also that if Mechanical Lore is used as one of your Lore skills for determining circle, after conversion you will have significantly fewer Mech Lore ranks, and this could require backtraining a different skill in order to circle again.

Examples

These examples were captured from a player with 63 ranks of Mechanical Lore.

>convert 20 mech into forging
You are about to convert 20 of your 63 ranks of Mech Lore into your Forging skill, leaving you with 23 ranks in Forging and 43 ranks of Mech Lore.

If this is what you want to do, please re-enter this command in the next 10 seconds.

>convert 20 mech into forging
Conversion Complete!
>convert split
If you wanted to split your mechanical lore 2 ways, your first conversion should be of 30 ranks.
If you converted them into an empty skill, you would have roughly 33 ranks.
If you wanted to split your mechanical lore 3 ways, your first conversion should be of 20 ranks.
If you converted them into an empty skill, you would have roughly 22 ranks.
If you wanted to split your mechanical lore 4 ways, your first conversion should be of 15 ranks.
If you converted them into an empty skill, you would have roughly 17 ranks.
If you wanted to split your mechanical lore 5 ways, your first conversion should be of 12 ranks.
If you converted them into an empty skill, you would have roughly 14 ranks.
